When advertising is as creative as this, one can't help but be impressed by it. When Faber Castell, one of the world's largest manufacturers of pens, pencils,…
Montreal-based artist Kevin Ledo uses images of world famous fashion icons such as Dior, Calvin Klein, Jean-Paul Gaultier, Prada and Louis Vuitton to draw parallels between modern fashion and Christian art from European medieval times. Coolhunting notes Ledo does this by, "transposing methods of religious paintings into an advertising context".
This impressive ad campaign for Christian Louboutin was shot by the American photographer Peter Lippmann. He arranged every picture so that they emulated classic still life paintings from the 17th and 18th century.
Paul Graves.
Earlier this year, actress Julianne Moore was shot by Peter Lindbergh for a fashion spread for Harper's Bazaar, in a shoot which took inspiration from art paintings.
Gustave Klimt wasn't the only one getting a faithful, in the flesh reproduction of his works. In Genlux's winter issue, an editorial called Sir Realist shot by Andrew Matusik used surrealist master Rene Magritte's work as inspiration. While the reenactment isn't always as faithful as Klimt's, Magritte's vision clearly shines through.
Bear with me, I'm on a roll here, so I'm just flooding the gates with all these art to life related posts! I suppose I could have broken this down into 2 separate posts, but I guess there's strength in numbers and neither is a full fledged editorial so this pairing seems sorta of ok!
Tying all sorts of loose ends dangling here and there, all those random pics and editorial bits I found in my meanderings that I can tell are inspired by art. Mostly like all those other art to life posts but in a messier more diverse format! Enjoy!
Kattaca are no strangers here. I've previously mentioned their mad art directing skills and in this editorial lensed by Moisés González and aptly called La

This ad for a L.A.M.B. Fragrance is another interpretation of good old Venus or Aphrodite arising of the sea foam. Maybe there are countless paintings of this subject here only one example.
Les Promises De L'hiver - Christian Louboutin collaborates with Peter Lippmann for a series of images juxtaposing the shoe label's fall-winter collection with portraits inspired by classic paintings. From Georges de la Tour's "Magdalene and the Flame" to Jean-Marc Nattier portraits, the images pay homage to art masterpieces with a contemporary twist.

Christian Louboutin likes his campaigns to stand out and his latest is no exception. He re-teams with photographer Peter Lippmann for another round of art inspired ads (which actually, by now is pretty standard I must say).
Another case of art seriously inspiring fashion. A somewhat old campaign, from 1999 for Yves Saint Laurent, shot by Mario Sorrenti, it sticks closely to some great classical paintings to deliver a thrillingly unique set. The original paintings are included alongside the shots for your delight.
