This site allows users to create stories using pictures. You can collaborate with another person, or work on your own. I think this would be a great tool for those students who need help/ideas to get them started with their writing. It's also nice because they can see their story come to life like a real book.

Regrouping Addition Step-by-Step - 1 views

  •
This website is a great tool for reinforcing and explaining regrouping addition. It takes the students through the process step-by-step. The website uses great graphics and makes the problem seem like a game. My students that struggle with this concept have great success with this website. I post it to my port-a-portal, so students can have access to it anytime.

ThinkQuest - 1 views

This one is sort of a work in progress for me. I had worked with think.com before and now it has joined with ThinkQuest. I am trying to get enrolled through my school which is already registered. So I'll have to report back on how that goes. But, I did find some resources that were in the "library," which didn't require being registered. I even found a website with an activity about our friend, Mr. Dewey! :)

What girl doesn't love shoes! This site is fun to rate, read about, and watch videos about shoes! It also gives places to find the shoes you like at low costs. It's not necessarily an educational tool, but lots of fun, none the less.

MyPyramid Blast Off Game - 1 views

  •
This website was designed by the United States of Agriculture. This particular activity teaches the importance of getting a variety of food from the food pyramid and the serving size of such in a rocket ship format. Students can reach Planet Power by fueling their rocket with food and physical activity. "Fuel" tanks for each food group help students keep track of how their choices fit into MyPyramid. Students will understand the food pyramid better and have fun while learning about it!

Shelfari - 1 views

Shelfari is a social networking site to share a collection of the books you have read, the books you want to read, and your favorite books. The books are displayed on a bookshelf for you to share with others. Students could display their choices for others to view. This could also be added to a library media website so others could see what the media specialist is reading.
  •
This is a great site that allows you to compile your own personal booklist. It is set up like a bookshelf and you can add titles of the books that you are reading, have read, or want to read. It also allows members to see what other members have on their book shelf. You may also create a group to which members of the group may add books to the book shelf. I have set up a book shelf of my personal books and also one for the Washington High School Library. This is exciting because I have invited the entire staff to be members and hopefully they will add books that they have read or ones that they want students to read. As soon as it is up and running I am going to add a link to our interactive grading system called, Schoolloop for the students to view. Maybe this will spark some interest in reading some great books.\n\n

This site provides a directory of Web 2.0 tools. It claims to be the "Complete Web 2.0 Directory." This can be used as a directory to explore all the Web 2.0 tools that are available.
  •
This is a great directory, but there are so many that it is hard to get through them even if you break them down into more specific tags.
  •
This is a great site to access a multitude of Web 2.0 Resources. It even gives a short description of the link when you put your mouse over it.

The First Thanksgiving-Student Activities - 0 views

  •
This interactive website teaches students how the Pilgrims lived to celebrate The First Thanksgiving. It gives a real life look at the Mayflower and what life was like aboard the ship (far from a cruise ship), what life was like once the Pilgrims arrived in America, and how the Indians helped the Pilgrims survive. This has great information and activities. I use it every year in my classroom. It has different grade levels of information (PK-12).

Summer Time Hangman - 0 views

  •
Students play hangman. They can play the game using different holidays as a theme (Fourth of July to St. Patrick's Day). It gives students the opportunity to use letters and sound relationships, and they have to figure out what words can be made by the letters chosen (or not). The students have to learn to look at the entire word in order to see what would make sense. It helps that the word they are trying to figure out corresponds with the holiday chosen.
