A VoiceThread is a tool for having conversation around media. A powerful new way to talk about and share your images, documents, and videos. Viewers can leave comments via voice, text, audio file, or video. Imagine, an entire group discussion on ONE page; digital storytelling made simple! It is free and has an education side to it with a secure network for K-12 students and teachers to collaborate and share ideas with ANYWHERE in the world!
This site offers so much. The teacher activity packs allow teachers to upload lessons, links, and activities to their own websites. There is a PD section with online courses for teachers. Lesson ideas are connected to standards and are available for many different grades.
A site full of lessons that can be categorized by grade levels and topics. With each category there is a "professional development" tab with great instruction and ideas.
The ramblings, rants, and thoughts of Gwyneth A. Jones. First runner-up in the 2009 Edublog Awards for Best Librarian/Library Blog, this site is full of ideas, links, and resources for today's teacher-librarian. I really like her straightforward (blunt) style of writing and her passion for today's librarians to stay abreast of emerging technologies.
Really great blog about pushing the envelope in the roll of librarian. This blogger is an active advocate for the 21st century Library Media Center and fun to read to boot!
eLearning eVolution: Transforming Teaching & Learning through Innovative Technology. This edublog gives tips on using technology for your professional development. This would be helpful for your school and district when planning professional development days.
A technology news website. Provides resources, videos, and webinars on technology in education. Current topics that I found interesting are: "Ten tips for using social media in communications" and "Empowering education with video".
A list of resources for school librarians ranging from Evaluation and Weeding, Book Repair, Selection Tools, Collection Development Policies, and General Collection Development. This is a great site to bookmark for any librarian.
This is a great site that is divided by subject and then it is divided into topics. There is also a good selection of professional development resources. There is even a section divided into state standards.
You've got to check this one out, especially if you are or plan to be an elementary school librarian. This librarian, Keisa Williams, has such great ideas. She even talks about some of the professional development she has done with the staff. Awesome!
