Evernote - 2 views

  •
Perhaps this is an obvious post, but I still run across people who don't have a searchable, organized or unorganized online notebook, notepad, or repository of anything and all things you want to remember or keep track of. I've used it for smaller projects, to contain all of the lengthy articulations that are then hyperlinked to more formal Word documents or Excel charts. It's a phenomenally useful tool.

I agree, there aren't a whole lot of tools out there to stay organized like Evernote. I use MS One Note for the same type of folder organizing and also for passwords etc.
  •
On the surface and quick glance, Evernote is like Pinterest but for your life :-) I am going to have to try it and see if it keeps me a little more organized!
  •
I need a tool like this. How long was the learning curve? Do you have any tips for getting started? Pitfalls? Thanks.
  •
I love Evernote because it's accessible from several mobile devices. I especially like their app (I'm using Android), because it's easy to use and fast. You could add multiple people to the account and share checklists, wiki-like notes pages, and calendar items. I'm not sure it would be ideal for huge projects with many parts, but it would be perfect for organizing a small collaboration or just for organizing your own work.

Michael, Thanks for sharing this app and your experience with it. This tool sounds just like the tool I need to track and remember all my pending tasks.

The Project Management Game - 3 views

  •
The object of The Project Management Game is to assign the best staff to particular tasks and complete your project on-time and under budget. This is definitely not Call of Duty, but it's free. Here's a more realistic PM game, but you have to purchase: http://www.sharkworldgame.nl/

ADDIE Model | Instructional Systems Design ISD - 1 views

  •
This is a pretty accessible, concise outline for using ADDIE for project management in ID. I find it interesting because there is criticism that ADDIE is not adequate for project management, but I am still not entirely sure why. This adaptation looks pretty sound.

"Post Mortem" Review Questions - 2 views

  •
Michael Greer's site that composes a list of questions as the project moves along. It starts with identifying lessons learned from other projects in order for the team to be refreshed for the new project.
  •
I liked the idea of preparing responses in advance of a face-to-face meeting. That gives people the opportunity to reflect and provide quality answers.
  •
These are good suggestions, but I think it would be even better to also instruct team members to jot down issues and solutions as they come up. I find that when we wait for a debrief after one of our huge events, many of us recall some of the problems that came up over the past months, but not all. There have been many times we've sat there looking at each other saying "what was that thing we had to deal with a few months back?" Sometimes we remember, sometimes we don't. Or conversely, we remember the problem, but didn't document exactly how we solved it and have to recreate the solution in the following year's event. So definitely something to be said for documenting feedback in the heart of the matter rather than in a recap, and reviewing the list in the recap meeting rather than trying to reconstruct it then.

The Project Management Podcast - 0 views

  •
I subscribed to this podcast (it has a free option) I liked because it is short (each episode is around 30 min long) and gets directly to the point, so it helps me to understand better some concepts we discuss in our class. I listened to the interview in the Episode 266: PMO and Capitalizing on Diversity (Free) This one gave me a perspective about how to integrate diversity in PM. The other episode I listened was Episode 261: How to Identify Project Stakeholders (Free) , so I learned a little more about this confusing topic for me. I also enjoyed the British accent; I finally can catch what they are saying! I think my English skills are improving: double check!

WBS Tool is a free web software for building Project Work Breakdown Structures (WBS), WBS Charts, Organograms and other types of hierarchies. The Tool works with any web browser with the adobe flash plugin installed. Simple to use.
  •
I like that you do not have to create a log in to use the program. Also the ease of use. Very intuitive.
  •
The tool is very intuitive to use. It has the ability to export as an image, word document or MS project file. That's an important feature. Looks like a great tool.

The Role of an Instructional Designer as Project Manager - 0 views

This article is second in a series about eLearning and Project Management, and I chose to post this because it really points out the similarities between IDs and PMs while really emphasizing the role of the ID.

Project Management for Instructional Designers - 6 views

  •
Great SlideShare presentation given by Kim Mckee and Kimberly Klotz at the Teaching with Technology Conference at UAMS in July 2013. Includes Project Management phases as it relates to the ADDIE Model.
  •
Clear and easy to understand. One item that stood out is the 'goals are defined by stakeholders'. When goals/definitions are clear from the beginning then it is easier to mover forward.

Trusted by millions, Basecamp is the leading web-based project management and collaboration tool. To-dos, files, messages, schedules, and milestones.
  •
Reminds me of just a plain old free wiki like the PB wiki. It would be interesting to test some of these products to see what stands out as really useful, and what doesn't seem worth the time or money...
  •
This is a great project management tool that helps you stay connected with all involved in your project. This tool provides a way to keep stakeholders updated, share documents and timelines, and get instant feedback.
