This article is written in a humorous way and does describe the basic necessity of a project manager in eLearning projects. While it doesn't cover all aspects, it is well written and is open ended.
This is an extensive article in the form of a presentation about eLearning Project Management. It has some great charts and graphs showing the compromises needed such as the image showing the compromise between time, quality, and money.
Hi Naomi -- great addition. I especially like the section about common pitfalls. Were there any other accompanying materials to this like a video or paper?
This article illustrates how successful eLearning project management is directly tied to University culture and processes. I found the "Tactics and Technique" section particularly enlightening. -Duncan McBogg

This article is relatively old (2002). Nonetheless, it contains timeless tips to ensure eLearning success, particularly with regard to managing stakeholder expectations. -Duncan McBogg
Abstract:
Leading a major e-learning or blended learning initiative is a relatively new, complex and high-stakes challenge. Success depends on a variety of factors, not the least of which is the project leader's ability to manage threats in the form of miscommunication among key constituents, excessive rework, missed milestones, cost overruns, poor quality deliverables, etc. To help ensure the success of your organization's learning initiatives, consider how you might apply these proven tips:
In this article, Preetam Kaushik explains what Kaizen is and how it is used in project management. It is an introduction to Kaizen - a philosophy developed by engineers while manufacturing cars at Toyota. It basically involves continuous improvements in all stages of any process with every small improvement making its own contribution to the final process.
In the article it mentions the concept of "Work Backwards." In education, when planning, it is called "Backwards Design," beginning your plan at where you want to end up, which is usually the the state standard of learning.
I was researching information on writing an effective business case when I came across this blog. It's written by a practicing PM, which makes it interesting to me because I'm not officially a PM. The author's posts cover a variety of topics that are informative and interesting, and she gives a lot of helpful tips about project management. I especially like how she tags her articles and gives them simple titles, which makes it easy to skim over the pages and find something that piques your interest. Also, the articles are a good length for quick information-gathering.
New technologies, revelations in behavioural science and changing cultures are generating exciting advances in the world of project management. In this article, I'll take a dive into five concepts that are creating buzz in the project management community, why they are important and what difference they're making in project work today.
I found the five trends really interesting as they fly in the face of what we've been doing in this class. I think that everything we learned has value but with such drastic changes and approaches taking place it makes you wonder if the focus we've been on is in the wrong areas??
Anyway, I also came across this for Top 10 Trends in PM for 2013 which is similar in some ways: http://www.itbusinessedge.com/slideshows/top-10-trends-in-project-management-for-2013.html
Great concise article on conflict management with specific strategic tips. The goal is not just to resolve conflict, but rather to work through conflict toward a productive outcome.
Great article. I love the very first point - finding the common goal to concentrate on, and using your empathy to approach your adversary as you would a friend.

Article giving a broader perspective to our readings about - the new organizational model
One reason PMs fail is their desire to get the product right the first time. This site says that this is an unrealistic expectation and that we should expect to get it wrong the first time and communicate this to our team. The dynamics will change making them more open and less pressured to "make the wrong step". This approach is modeled by Microsoft which generally takes about 3 times before they get a product right. Other useful tips and lessons follow such as Less is More. An uplifting site that reminds us that it is okay to make mistakes as long as we learn from them.
Very insightful article. The point the article made that I felt was interesting was the part about how it can be hard early on to not test what they are making. Easy to go down the wrong direction.
