When Enough Is (Good) Enough: A Review of 'Professor Mommy' - 0 views

  •
This is a book review of 'Professor Mommy' which discusses a work life balance for women working in academia. There are women I know who have children and go to graduate school. It is difficult and I couldn't imagine leaving a newborn at home to go to class/work/research. This was different from the other work life articles I have been reading (which are aimed for most populations).

Eight Tips on Writing Efficiently while Overloaded with Teaching, Service and Kids (A G... - 0 views

  •
Provides tips on making teaching and writing more efficient, presumably freeing more time for "life." I've seen a version of his "paragraph response sheet" used by one of the full professors in my department. HIs point on tenure evaluation equivalencies reinforces my opinion that it is important to find a mentor or advocate at your institution that has served on the promotion and tenure committee for advice.

Biomechanics CV Example- University of Nebraska - 0 views

This is an example of one of the more well-known researchers/professors that is in the same line of study I am going into. As you will see, it is quite extensive! The highlights section, I can't decide if I like that or think it is sanctimonious...maybe a little of both

CV from a Dean and Professor at Rose-Hulman, a private four-year engineering institute in Indiana. I was searching for a different Carnegie classification than my previous posts, but still within my discipline. This document is labeled as a CV, but I suspect this is an abridged version for the web.

This is the portfolio of a professor of IR at Mary Baldwin College. I like the layout quite a bit and how it does double-duty as a professional and teaching resource.

New to Mid Career Health Services Researcher -George Mason University - 0 views

This is one of the only examples I've been able to find of a professor in my field. I'm finding that most professors' CVs are not publicly posted on their schools website (unless it's like ODUs where their CV is sort of smushed onto their profile page)

I like the bullets, however, I feel like there leaves much to be desired. The first bullet point is not really a belief but an action. I do like the specific examples the professor uses, but I do not get a sense of who this person is. Nor does it sound like a professor I would like to have!
