KARACHI: Farooq Sattar, senior Muttahida Qaumi Movement (MQM) leader, Thursday said ongoing targeted operation in Karachi against criminal elements is being used to "eliminate" his party. Addressing a press conference here, Sattar said a conspiracy is being hatched to sideline MQM from political arena and to replace it with some other political party by using the targeted operation.
LAHORE: Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) Chairman Imran Khan accused the ruling Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) of planning to carry out rigging in the upcoming by-election of NA-122 at women polling stations. "I want to ask my tigresses to remain alert in order to foil PML-N's plans to rig the by-election," Khan said while addressing a large gathering of supporters at Doongi Ground in Samanaabad area of Lahore.
KARACHI: An anti terrorism court (ATC) Monday sentenced an activist of Muttahida Qaumi Movement (MQM) to jail for 19 years, Samaa reported. Chaudhry Shujaat, the convicted MQM activist, was charged with criminal possession of weapons and explosive material. Last year the government launched a major crackdown against criminal elements in the largest city of the country.
