KARACHI: An anti terrorism court (ATC) Monday sentenced an activist of Muttahida Qaumi Movement (MQM) to jail for 19 years, Samaa reported. Chaudhry Shujaat, the convicted MQM activist, was charged with criminal possession of weapons and explosive material. Last year the government launched a major crackdown against criminal elements in the largest city of the country.

BEIRUT: Russian jets launched a fourth day of air raids in Syria Saturday, a monitor said, hitting the Islamic State group's main stronghold after claims Moscow was instead targeting moderate rebel factions. "Several Russian strikes hit IS positions west of Raqa overnight and explosions were heard in the city," Rami Abdel Rahman, head of the Britain-based Syrian Observatory for Human Rights, told AFP.

JACOBABAD: AT last eight people have been killed and several others injured when an explosion struck a Muharram procession here on Friday. Our correspondent said the blast took place on Quetta road. The dead and injured were being taken to a nearby hospital.
