ISLAMABAD: Chairman of National Accountability Bureau (NAB) Qamar Zaman Chaudhry Thursday said a corruption free Pakistan would remain a dream unless people at their own refuse to accept corruption as a fact of life.
ISLAMABAD: The Election Commission of Pakistan on Monday declared an independent candidate, Riaz-ul-Haq winner from NA-144 by securing 85,714 votes in by-election. According to ECP, an independent candidate Chaudhry Riazul Haq got 85,714 votes while Ali Arif Chaudhry of Pakistan Muslim League (N) achieved 45,199 votes in NA-144.
Mian Maqsood, Ameer of JI's Lahore chapter, said his party would also support PTI in PP-147 by-polls. "We will jointly contest elections with the PTI," Maqsood said. Yesterday, a PTI delegation led by Chaudhry Muhammad Sarwar had met JI's Lahore ameer and sought his party's support in NA-122 against ruling Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N).
KARACHI: An anti terrorism court (ATC) Monday sentenced an activist of Muttahida Qaumi Movement (MQM) to jail for 19 years, Samaa reported. Chaudhry Shujaat, the convicted MQM activist, was charged with criminal possession of weapons and explosive material. Last year the government launched a major crackdown against criminal elements in the largest city of the country.
