We will be watching Pirates of the Caribbean in the back room after dinner. It is VERY IMPORTANT that you RSVP. If you do not let us know that you will be coming, we will not be prepared to have you. Bullying Hurts Everyone, Not Just the Victim | LD Parents - NCLD - 0 views
-
At first, the word “bullying” conjures up images of a tough, wise-cracking kid verbally taunting and embarrassing another, pushing, punching, poking, tripping, threatening, taking his possessions, ripping his clothes, defacing his property… all behaviors that are clearly inappropriate and that demand immediate adult intervention. But what about the child who because of her small stature and difficulties with expressive language, is rejected by peers when she tries to sit next to them on the school bus and taunted when she tries to join in a conversation? Or the student who is fearful of walking through the hallways in school because of the dozens of times (by any number of peers) he has been shoved, face first, into a locker or had his backpack yanked off his body causing him to fall backwards (sometimes on the staircase!) resulting in his being late for class, not to mention the physical and emotional pain he’s had to endure.
Special Needs Parents: How to earn "The Look" | Friendship Circle -- Special Needs Blog - 0 views

Has anyone ever given you a serious look that says unequivocally, “You have absolutely lost your mind?” I have. Several times. Yes, recently. I guess I’ve earned it with my hair styled by a 6 year old, dark under-eye circles and wrinkled clothes that never seem to fit quite right. And then there’s my questionable behavior in public – as the parent of a child with special needs, I often find myself breaking social norms. These are some of the circumstances in which I’ve been on the receiving end of “that look.”

This event is organized through the school PTAs/PACs, so you hopefully have already heard about it through your child's school. In case you hadn't, I wanted to make sure you know about it. Anderson school, on Cottonwood, where our children attend, has participated all 5 years, and it's a great event! These families have been incredibly generous, donating clean, gently-used clothing, shoes, hats, etc. of all sizes, infant through adult. Volunteers are also always needed to help sort, hang, and organize the donations during set up. Any time you have to volunteer, short or long, will be greatly appreciated. If you come on Tuesday or Thursday over the lunch hour, the Tumbleweed Gourmet Food truck will be there selling volunteers their gourmet tacos and burritos. If you are able to help anytime next week for 2 hours, you can take a brown paper grocery sack of treasures for yourself! This free clothing giveaway is a fantastic opportunity to reuse and recycle gently worn clothing collected by Bozeman area schools. This event is not based on "need," but on "sharing" what we have as a community. Everyone is welcome and encouraged to participate by donating what they no longer need and taking what they When/Where:
