The Arc Announces New Chapter in Montana to Serve People with Disabilities and their Fa... - 0 views

  • Washington, DC – This month, The Arc officially announced the affiliation of AWARE, Inc. in Montana as a state chapter. The affiliation of AWARE will mark the first time in over a decade that The Arc will have a statewide presence in Montana. “We are very excited to have such a strong partner in Montana and look forward to working with AWARE. Together, The Arc and AWARE will help provide individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities throughout Montana a powerful voice,” said Peter V. Berns, CEO of The Arc.

Webinar Presenter Recruitment - Request for Presenters - Now until July 31, 2013 - 0 views

    The AUCD is hosting thier fourth student webinar series. This webinar will focus on aging with an intellectual disability, topics could include health disparities or health promotion.  The next webinar will take place on Wednesday July 31 from 12:00 pm - 1:00 pm Mountain.

    The webinar is sponsored by The Arc for People with Intellectual and Developmental Disabilities.  Our last webinar participants included doctors, a dentist, therapists, students, Arc chapter employees, and state/local health department employees- so a pretty broad audience. The webinar will be live captioned.

    If you are a student or know of any students who might be interested in presenting, please let us know. Each presentation is 15 minutes long (3 presenters) with five minutes of questions at the end.

  • I’ve always believed that as a parent I am the best advocate for my children. If I don’t do it, who will? I also believe in giving back and paying forward so I joined the Bozeman Area Special Education PTA to help advocate for families who are still in need. Please join me in helping to raise awareness regarding disability issues in the community at the Legislative Candidate Forum on Disabilities on August 27. The forum will be held at Eagle Mount at 6901 Goldenstein, at 6:30 p.m., with a reception to follow. Childcare, accommodations, and transportation will be provided.
