    What:
Assisting with Reading Fluency in the Classroom will provide the paraeducator with the information and skills needed to assist classroom teachers in meeting the literacy needs of a variety of students. It deals with the specific area of reading fluency. It prepares paraeducators to understand important fluency concepts and terms, and to use a variety of research-based instructional techniques that improve fluency at the word, phrase, sentence, and connected text levels. The Instructional Teamwork Academy academy is designed to help paraeducators work effectively on a team. This course is recommended for teachers as well. Teachers and/or paraeducators may take this course without the other team member, but it is most effective when teams take the course together. The academy consists of four modules consisting of introductory material regarding teamwork, delineation of roles and responsibilities, classroom instruction, and behavior management.

Getty's Window To Inclusion: robot in the preschool classroom - 0 views

  • This video illustrates how essential early childhood inclusion is for all children, including those who cannot be in close proximity to other children because of health concerns. In this video, Kate Mathany describes how her daughter Getty virtually attends a typical preschool classroom every day using a VGo. In the first part, Kate introduces us to Getty and describes how the idea to use the VGo came about. In the second part, Kate is joined by Eileen Sedilko, Getty's preschool teacher, as they illustrate how Getty's school day works from both home and classroom perspectives. They discuss a range of topics including preschool inclusion, parent leadership, the use of adaptations, collaboration, teamwork, the benefits of inclusion for all children, families, and teachers. This video has important messages for families with children who cannot attend a preschool because of health reasons who are looking for solutions, for all those interested in early childhood inclusion, and for current and future early childhood educators. A presentation of the Desired Results Access Project, Napa County Office of Education, funded by the California Department of Education, Special Education Division. Produced by Larry Edelman.

Anaconda school wins national recognition - 0 views

  • ANACONDA - Of all the artwork and posters that decorate Fred Moodry Middle School's main hall, one blue flag hangs just a little higher than the rest. Like most flags, it is a uniting symbol to those who helped raise it. It honors progress, achievement and teamwork, with bold white words that say it all: Distinguished School. The National Title I Association recently honored Fred Moodry as one of its distinguished schools for 2009. Only two schools from Montana received the award, joining 63 nationwide.

Department of Education Provides Guidance for Physical Education for Students with Disa... - 0 views

  • In August, 2011 the Department of Education (DOE) released a report providing recommendations for improved equal opportunities for physical education for students with disabilities in response to a 2010 Government Accountability Office (GOA) report which states that local and state officials would find more federal guidance helpful in this arena. The recommendations from the DOE include the use of specialized equipment and tools such as Play Station, Wii and Xbox which simulate participation. It is the participation, however, which is seen as the key component for physical education whether the students participating have disabilities or not. The report notes that it is only through participation that all students learn about teamwork and sportsmanship.
