This group is designed for parents who are dealing with specific challenges usually encountered once their adoptees are settled in (~ 1 year or more into the adoption), for parents with challenging children and interested others. CONNECT (formerly Together in Parenting) is a process-based support group lead by a licensed therapist that gives parents a venue in which to form an emotional connection with other parents experiencing similar issues with their children. Each month, we address concerns of parents who are present via peer support and therapeutic suggestions. Parents who are experiencing challenging times with their children find the support of other parents who have been on the adoption and parenting journey for some time to be invaluable.Therapeutic suggestions are offered when appropriate and helpful. For parents who need the support of other families who are at the beginning of the adoption journey and who would like information and the camaraderie of other families at the same early stage in the process, we offer the EQUIP support group. Easter Seals-Goodwill is offering a series of classes using Michelle Garcia Winner's "Think Social!" curriculum to help kids ages 9-14 who need extra support in learning and practicing social skills. Group leaders include people with backgrounds in P.L.A.Y. (Play and Language for Autistic Youngsters), social work, special education, and one-on-one work with kids of ranging abilities. Our goal is to provide a safe and fun environment for kids to explore and learn about our social world together!

Connect: The Center to Mobilize Early Childhood Knowledge, an initiative of the FPG Child Development Institute, is working with the early childhood community to create a series of web-based resources that respond to challenges faced by those working with young children with disabilities and their families. CONNECT recently released a new 12-minute video, entitled Foundations of Inclusion Birth to Five, which includes highlights from the recently released DEC/NAEYC Joint Position Statement on Early Childhood Inclusion. The video also addresses questions many teachers and families have about inclusion, such as: What is inclusion? Is there research to support it? What are characteristics of high quality inclusive settings?

What:
Connecting Math Concepts (CMC) is a research-validated developmental math program designed to be utilized with students in grades 1st - 6th. Corrective Mathematics (CM) is a research-validated, specialized math program designed to be utilized as a remedial/intervention program for those students in grades 4th - 12th who have not mastered basic math skills.  The program has four basic strands: addition, subtraction, multiplication and division. Both CMC and CM utilize explicit instruction to teach necessary pre-skills as well as basic math skills and strategies.  In this in-service, you will learn the rationale for CMC and CM, how to teach the pre-skills and strategy lessons embedded in the program, how to provide adequate practice and how to give the initial placement test, as well as on-going mastery assessments.

Have you ever wanted to travel back in time? Do you remember hearing about Chief Joseph's surrender speech in 1877? What else do you know about the Nez Perce Conflict of 1877? How does it connect to Montana History? How did it connect with your community? How can you find out? How can you use Primary Sources to meet the Montana Common Core Standards? BYOD and learn the "rest of the story"? Chronicling America is part of the National Digitized Newspaper Program and is probably the closest thing we have to a "Time Travel Machine". This workshop will explore how to locate Primary Sources that connect to the Nez Perce Conflict of 1877. We will use Chronicling America and Montana Historical Society resources as our primary tools. This is an excellent opportunity to learn to use primary resources with an Indian Education for All presentation.
