Gives percantage of children living in poverty and the effects of poverty on children. It also includes what the federal poverty line is. I was shocked by how many kids are living in poverty and how strongly it affects almost all aspects of their lives.

I thought it was really interesting when they said that the children living in poverty that go to school can't learn because they have problems at home that keep them from reaching their potential in school. This reminded my about maslows heirarchy and how if they don't have a strong base(home) everything else will fall apart.

this article talks about who are homeless and the percents of each homeless group. IT was really touching because it showed that everyone is affected. It really made me feel sad when I saw that 36% of homeless people are families

it makes us relize how we shouldnt take things for granted, and just should be thankful for what we have, becuase some people dont even get the love and support we get. they just have nothing. ):

I found this article interesting becasue it gives statistics about peopl who are homless, like 28% don't have enough to eat, compared to the 12% of adults who are hungry nut have homes." and "22% have been physically assulted". It gave me a different perspective about people who are homeless.

It has facts and stats on poverty like the percentage of people in the world at different poverty levels. And it tells how much people die from poverty. it made me sad that alot of people live on 2.50$ or less on food everyday!

Wow...this article really grabs you with the first few facts. I find it heartbreaking that 1 in 2 children, over 1 billion in all, live in poverty. When one is born into poverty, it's hard to leave it. These 1 billion children may never know what it's like to not be hungry.

This article is about the causes of poverty. Poverty is caused by overpopulation, unequal distribution of resources, costs of living, inadequate education, and unemployment. I was upset by the some of the causes of poverty, but hopeful too, because some of the causes could be changed in order to end poverty.

This site is about a new system to help solve homelessness. It is called a Vulnerability Index and provides housing for the homeless. I was saddened by reading that when you see someone who is homeless you are essentially seeing someone who is dieing.

The article is about poverty-related diseases (PRDs) and how it is a mafor cause and cosequence of considerable povert in Developing Countries (DCs). The burdens of PRDs, especially HIV/AIDS, which today more than 40 million people are infected with AIDS, and many of them are in sub-Saharian Africa. Malaria, and Tuberculosis (TB), also TB remains the leading cause od morbidity and mortality world-wide, accounting for more than 2 million human lives every year. The annual global death toll of these three diseases approaches 6 million people and, in some African countries HIV infected 40% of the entire population. But the European Commision has propposed to support a long-term partnership between Europe and developing countries by providing $200 million for development of new medicines and vaccines to fight these three diseases. Thus the European and Developing Countries Clinical Trials Partnershipm(EDCTP) brings together EU Member States plus Norway, developing countries and industry in a joint effort to combat PRDs. Fighting thses diseases will also be one of the most effective ways to alleviate poverty and promote economic progress in DCs. My opinion of this article is that it's brilliant, knowing that U.S. is not alone and that countries are coming together to stop thess diseases and poverty problems alike. I hope this article would be an insperation to teh U.S. and other countries, that are facing poverty and the horrific effects of the grotisque "plague!"

This is an article about how Philadelphia cut its food pantry budget while so many families are already struggling. To be more specific they cut their State Food Purchase Program which is how the states buy food for their food pantries.

Why would you you do a budget cut for a food pantry when tones of familys need the most help they can get.

I cant believe that in 2008 15.45 million children were living in poverty or were poor. Those children will probably not get an adequate education or have a good healthy childhood. Most likly when those children are old enough they will have to get a job as soon as they can to help the family pay for the things they need. We are so lucky and most of us dont realise it.

It really scares me to know that one child dies every five seconds from hunger. Also, it was eye-opening to see that 9 million kids die of hunger before their fifth birthday. I think it's really unfair that someone that young has to go through such living.

925 million people are hungry. They cant put food on their tables. I think we take it for granted. We always have food in our fridges, we always have food on our tables. We need to appreciate more for what we get. Next time our moms put something on the table we don't like, you should still appreciate that you get food in your bodies. There are millions people out there that would do anything for just a thing of spinach.
