I was looking for a good book to read and I came across the movie trailer for the Maze Runner. It looked exciting so I thought that I should read the book. I did and even though I'm not usually into Sci-Fi, I found the book very exciting and interesting.

When I wasn't sure what I wanted to read next I used articles like this to get inspiration. If I the book sounded good I would read it.

Piktochart is a media form (sort of like prezi) that lets you choose a template and make your own informational graphic, which can include pictures, your own text, and features like graphs, interactive maps, and youtube videos. This source gives you a lot of options, but it is hard to take advantage of them all your first time around, and the site could definitely be more intuitive and user-friendly. However, I would recommend it to fellow students anyway, since it is a relatively easy way to create a class project that looks much more polished and professional than a powerpoint. Using this source was a risk for me, since I am not very tech-savvy, and I was afraid I would not know how to use it. However, after a bit of exploration I now feel pretty confident using piktochart, and it has bettered my learning by making me more comfortable with technology and giving me another option for school projects.

This AFS site gives in-depth cultural information about all of the countries that AFS sends students to. I used it to learn about family life, entertainment, and the customs of Peru, where I will be studying abroad next year. I know that this site is reliable, since it is published by AFS, and I know this organization is very well-established and an expert in the field of cultural study. The information is also pretty non-biased, since even though they are trying to convince you, as a student, to study abroad in this country, they also talk honestly about what might be difficult for foreigners. This site was more helpful to me than the other sites I'd used to learn about what life in Peru might be like next year, since it was written with long-term living in mind, instead of tourism or short volunteer trips. And because this site included small details you might not get from reading a guidebook, such as what dating is like and how to greet people, it made me feel as if I was already in the culture, and I could start to imagine, for the first time, what it would be like to actually live there.

This was the site I used to fundraise for the half marathon that I ran to benefit Zeno Mountain Farm. The whole team from Zeno made fundraising pages with this site, and it let you set a goal, provide information about what you are fundraising for, and notified you via email when you got donations or reached your goal. With a site where people will be entering their credit card numbers to donate to you, you have to be sure that it is reliable. The only way I knew this site was reliable was because it had been endorsed by the leader of our marathon team, but now that I know I will feel confident using it for future fundraising endeavours I embark on. I liked using this site because it made fundraising a communal activity that I could share with my entire marathon team; instead of just calling people in isolation, I could track my progress with my teammates and receive inspiration from what they were doing. It also allowed me to broaden the pool of people I was reaching out to to sponsor me, since I could connect the stayclassy page with my facebook and other social media pages.

This forum compares the new Duramax and Cummins diesel trucks,and it is very informational. It includes specs and even ride quality observations. I would get the Cummins just because its cheaper for a truck with all the same luxuries. This source was helpful for me because I wanted to know which diesel truck would be a better value and I learned that the Cummins is the better value

This webpage explains how a Pittsburgh machine works. The machine uses a series of rollers to create a locking mechanism to put duct together. This website has similar information as other websites, thus it is legitimate. It was very helpful to me because I use a Pittsburgh machine every day and now I understand more fully how it works.

This online video shows this awesome mechanic tearing down a whole dirt bike in 5 minutes. It thought it was amazing and would recommend that others watch this video if they want to see an crazy fast mechanic. This video taught me how to be more time efficient while taking apart a dirtbike by having the right tools, such as T handles.

In this article Russian protesters force police out of a government building in the Ukraine and don't even budge when a full scale anti-terrorist assault is threatened. It was useful to read because it informed me about this international event in the Ukraine making me a better global citizen. I am now more aware of the unrest in the Ukraine and resilience of the Russian protesters.

This article is about Obama, the current U.S. President, who is trying to outlaw guns by going behind the citizens backs and making it a crime for any citizen to own a gun by not stopping the U.N. from passing international gun control laws. This will allow the secretary of state, without consent from the citizens of the United States, to decide the gun control laws in our country and across the globe. This article came from CNN, which is a reliable news source. I fear Obama's actions are going to start a civil war if this actually happens because it would violate the second amendment right of all U.S. citizens by creating a larger global law banning guns. I am strongly opposed to the U.N. setting our country's gun control laws and want to protect my current rights as a U.S. citizen.

In this article, a powerful spring storm system has caused tornadoes, killing 29 people in six states throughout the south east of the United States. It is a factual recall of a current event on CNN's website, which is a reliable news source. This article made me realize how serious the storms in the southeastern U.S. were and the magnitude of their death toll. It also made me glad to live in the northeast where tornadoes are very rare.

This article is about how the Taliban is, once again, attacking government buildings in Afghanistan like they do every spring when the weather warms up in the mountains. The reason they do this every spring is to try and regain control of the government of Afghanistan. It is my understanding that their motive is to control the global opium market and ultimate wealth. I believe this is reliable information because it is on the CNN website and they have a good reputation for accurate news. I have learned that the Taliban is very persistent and violent. I can't imagine living in a country where a violent terrorist group is trying to overthrow the government every spring. I feel that must be an unsafe place to live, work, and try and raise a family, and am glad I live in the U.S.

This article is about a tragic mine fire in Turkey that killed dozens of miners and left many trapped deep underground. In response to this tragedy, Turkey is doing as much as possible to stop unsafe and unregulated mining operations. According to the article, unregulated mines account for 85% of the mines in Turkey, so its going to take some time for them to follow through with regulations. This is a reliable article as it is from the CNN website. This article helped me realize how dangerous it is to work in the mining industry in countries that lack safety regulations.

This site was and still is a very helpful site for me while I was completing my environmental project in global. It describes what acid rain is as well as how it effects environment. It also refers to the specific country of Sweden which is the county in which I was studying the impact of acid rain on the lakes and rivers. This sites was my most informational and gave me most of my data for the project.

This cite allows you to look at any color that you please and find the code that would be needed for it to be entered into a web site. I used this many times because it allowed me too use a variety of different colors that expanded beyond the colors that my teacher gave me. It also suggested color schemes that look good on a website.

This is a fantastic article that shows what life lessons growing up with horses can teach us. It's from the voice of a mother who is reflecting on her daughter as she watches her ride. Quite heartwarming.
