  •
The Article linked above is about children in Ghana, Africa getting poisoned by chemicals that are in the electronic waste fields there. Its very informative and horrifying that we are one of the three largest contributors to these waste fields.
  •
This article is especially disturbing considering I am a heavy user of computer components. There has got to be a better way to deal with this waste.

Community of College Applicants - 0 views

  •
This website allows you to sign up, enter in your test scores, GPA, extra curriculars and other important academic information. Then, you can pick all of the colleges you want to apply to and they will show you your chances of getting in based on percentages. It compares you to other students on parchment, as well as your academic profile and that is how they make the educated guess. It also tells you how sure they are of the percentage they gave you. On this site, you can also look at others that are applying to the schools you want to go to, and whether or not they got accepted or not. It is a great support system and a resourceful tool to use, even if it may not be the most accurate.

This website shows examples of college essays that were successful because of their voice and tone, creativity, and clarity. They range from emotional, cerebral, philosophical, humorous, serious, or a combination of styles. The most important aspect of all of them being that they got the applicants into the college of the choice. It is a very useful website for determining the flavor you want your essay to have!

'Fed Up' Theatrical Trailer - 0 views

I got this trailer via Russel and Ms. Camera and it looks great. I suggest to anyone who is concerned about the obesity epidemic and would like to educate themselves on the subject of sugar and how it is related to our health, as well as how it is perceived in our society.

Crucibles - 0 views

  •
The crucible is an integral part of the type of foundry I made, as it is what the metal is melted in and contained before pouring. The crucible I got is made of clay-graphite. Clay-graphite is a ceramic, meaning that it is very sensitive to thermal and mechanical shock, and will literally explode if not used properly.

Fundraising Site - 0 views

  •
This was the site I used to fundraise for the half marathon that I ran to benefit Zeno Mountain Farm. The whole team from Zeno made fundraising pages with this site, and it let you set a goal, provide information about what you are fundraising for, and notified you via email when you got donations or reached your goal. With a site where people will be entering their credit card numbers to donate to you, you have to be sure that it is reliable. The only way I knew this site was reliable was because it had been endorsed by the leader of our marathon team, but now that I know I will feel confident using it for future fundraising endeavours I embark on. I liked using this site because it made fundraising a communal activity that I could share with my entire marathon team; instead of just calling people in isolation, I could track my progress with my teammates and receive inspiration from what they were doing. It also allowed me to broaden the pool of people I was reaching out to to sponsor me, since I could connect the stayclassy page with my facebook and other social media pages.

SeaWorld's Blue Horizons - Behind The Scenes - 0 views

This video was an incredible resource. I really got to understand the relationship between trainer and dolphin. I think this video definitely helped me to see the different personalities of dolphins, as well as their personalized training regimen and preferences. This really gave me a deep understanding of the topic that I would never have been able to have achieved unless I was right there having the trainers tell me this. This video is a must see for anyone looking into becoming a trainer, or just trying to study dolphins in general. Truly an amazing resource.
