Google Shows Results for Similar Searches - 1 views

"This feature used to be an experiment, but now it should be publicly available. Unfortunately, Google shows results for too many different queries and not all of them are useful. Some of Google's suggestions remove important keywords from the query and that's a mistake. For example, removing "gingerbread" from [gingerbread install chrome browser manually] returns results related to the desktop Chrome. Maybe Google could automatically detect nonessential keywords and show results that don't include them instead of cluttering the list of results with so many options. "

Second Grader Shows How She Uses Evernote For Fluency - Edudemic - 1 views

  •
"The above video by Nicole Gleason shows one student explaining the benefits of Evernote, how she's using it to improve fluency, language learning, keeping track of her studies, and leveraging all the iPad and Evernote have to offer. It's impressive and my hat's off to Mrs. Gleason (check out her other videos here!) and this video."

How to Create Your Own Search Engine - 3 views

  •
"One of the reasons that some teachers like to create their custom search engines is so that they can control which websites appear when their students search. You can also control how many sites appear in a search result by building a custom search engine. This can be useful with young students who are just learning to search and can be overwhelmed by the number of results or confused by content that is far above their reading levels. "

The Engaging School Handbook for School Leaders - 5 views

"The Learning Futures programme was established in order to find out more about how best to make schools more engaging places to learn. Engaging learning involved good leadership in learning environments. This document is well worth exploring as it positions schooling within a culture of 21c learning

Creating a reading community - with Goodreads - 8 views

"Encouraging young people to read has never been harder - on the one hand. Recess and lunchtimes at our school attest to a full-to-bursting library, but on closer inspection our boys are socialising around the games on their ipads. On the other hand, the technology we sometimes blame for a drop in an interest in literature could also become our saving grace in bringing the passion back in reading."
