The March 10 issue of Computerworld includes the following article on Oracle's announcement of several major investments in higher education solutions. Of note, ComputerWorld is an IDG News Service publication and this coverage also appeared in: CFO World, CIO, IT World, Network World, PCWorld, and TechWorld. The article highlights the new Oracle Student Cloud that Oracle will release sometime in 2015. Additionally, the article discusses how Oracle will release new features for its Human Capital Management (HCM) and Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) cloud services that will tie into Oracle Student Cloud. The article further discusses the plan to release a new version of Oracle PeopleSoft Campus Solutions to provide a simpler, more productive user experience.

The June 9 edition of Computerworld includes the following article based on an interview with Brian Haugabrook, interim CIO, Valdosta State University, on how the university plans to implement an effective IT operation that will provide officials more ways to reach out to students who are at risk of failing.  The article further discusses the university's decision to implement Oracle Business Intelligence Enterprise Edition, Oracle Application Express and Oracle Endeca Information Discovery to help support its plan to improve student retention and success. The article notes that since implementation of these tools, the university has seen an increase in retention rates and passing grades.

The article highlights Kentucky Community and Technical College System (KCTCS), which used Oracle's PeopleSoft Enterprise Human Capital Management system to roll out self-service components to its various user constituencies. The article also notes that KCTCS uses PeopleSoft's Campus Solutions application to allow students to enroll in classes, pay their bills and make scheduling changes. The article includes comment by Paul Czarapata, chief technology officer, Kentucky Community and Technical College System, who notes that the PeopleSoft Campus Solutions module is relatively easy to administer.
