Soundtrap - Make music online - 0 views

  •
This is a cloud based music software that I use in my music classroom. Students can create their own music and share it with others. There is a collaboration feature that allows students and teachers to work together on a song. One of my favorite tools is the podcasting feature. My students instead of written summative tests create a series of podcast episodes where they speak about what they have learned, and they can collaborate together and even have guests on their episodes. This podcasting feature is great for students who struggle with writing and are better with speaking.

Make a Personal Connection in Your Online Classroom - OnlineCollege.org - 0 views

  •
Advice to post a faculty bio and develop online presence are not uncommon, but when I look out at my class roster in the school's learning management system (LMS), on a sea of new names at the beginning of each term, my focus has increasingly become direct instructor-student exchange with each person.

I've only ever worked with adult learners, so I've really struggled with how to apply the readings from this unit to my teaching. This article helped me wrap my head around what personalized learning might look like in a higher ed setting.

Free Online Appointment Scheduling Software - Calendly - 0 views

This tool integrates with my school Outlook calendar and allows anyone with my link to schedule a meeting with me! Our school tech coach utilized it last spring, and it was amazingly easy. Instead of bouncing emails back and forth, her calendar showed me available times, and I booked what worked for me! I envision this being a fantastic tool to use for parents or students to schedule office hour appointments, as well as for student committees to schedule check-ins with me at times that work for them!

Building a classroom community without machines - 0 views

  •
This education trend teaches students how to interact without social media. In the exercise called "Living Facebook Project" students learn that "friend" is not just a button you click. I plan on trying this activity with my fourth grade class as a class building activity.
