The video explained the term open access in easy to understand terms. It is clear that digitization and the price increase played a major role in the open access movement. Open Access is just like science, it is about the spread of the knowledge. Open Access stress the idea of free to read and free to re-use right. The two major obstacles in the open access movement is impact factor and name of the journal.

Intellectual property is a brought term. Talking about intellectual property than it means that the terms like copyright, patent laws and trade laws are included. Each one of these terms has its own laws and places in which those laws can be can be practice. Stallman (2004) make it clear that the term intellectual property is confusing. e.g. copyright deals with authorship, patent laws deals with the promoting of the publication of useful ideas at hte price of given the one who publishes and idea a temporary monopoly over it and trade laws is to enable buyers to know what they are buying, that is according Stallman (2004). It make sense to treat the concepts as separate topics. It will be easy to understand for the man on the street and to make sense of the concept of intellectual property. http://io9.com/ebola-vaccine-delay-may-be-due-to-an-intellectual-prope-1642035584 This what can happen with intellectual propery. It brings out the problems that can happen with intellectual property. It is in such cases where the Washington Declaration on Intellectual Property and the Public Interest comes in. In this article it talks about putting Intellectual Property in its place.

The speaker in the video talk about one of the mail stones that the open access group has riches during 2013 in the US.
This connect to the article that was discussed yesterday at a reading club at the institution where I am working. The article was Institutional Policies for Open Acces by Peter Suber. According to Hodgson(2014:6) research in some form of open access (OA) grew from one in 2003 to over 350 by the end of 2013.
This is an indication that open access movement is starting to win field. If more business operations and government institutions come on board and implement policies than it will push the open access movement.

Copyright is a good and a bad thing. It restrict the freely use of information and the sharing of the information that is needed to educate and inform people. On the other hand it is good because it forces the users of content that they found and was not created by them to give credit to the creator of the content.
