"The new Voki Educational Web Site includes ideas, networking, and explanations that bring talking avatars to the educational stage. At first glance it appears to be void of advertising, quite a feat since Voki For Education is still free. Next, the educational page has resources that will get everyone in education talking. One resource to check out is the important facts for education. As in all Web 2.0 sites used in education, this is an important read. Next, you may wish to view a collection of lesson plans that include thoughts for using Voki in the classroom. Ideas include all subjects and levels from primary school to the university classroom. "What is the BC Universal Design for Learning Project? The BC UDL project is a Ministry of Education funded initiative to assist pilot school districts in implementing principles and building infrastructure for UDL. BC teachers often find it challenging to maintain high standards in education while addressing the increasingly diverse needs of learners. UDL combines some of the current best practices already used by BC educators including differentiated instruction, performance-based assessment and the use of educational technology in order to improve student learning."

"Through this Joint UDL Project, teams of classroom teachers from general education and special education with the support of principal leadership, university educators with support of university administrators, and RI Department of Education representatives participated in training held at Rhode Island College and conducted by the Sherlock Center and consultants for the Center for Applied Special Technology (CAST) in January 2008. Twelve universally-designed curriculum units were cooperatively developed as a result of this training. Teachers, university educators, and others are encouraged to use these units as examples and guides for practical implementation of UDL in elementary, middle, secondary, and post-secondary classrooms."

"The Advisory Commission on Accessible Instructional Materials in Postsecondary Education for Students with Disabilities, established by the Higher Education Opportunity Act of 2008, has brought together government leaders, representatives from the publishing industry, individuals with print disabilities, representatives from two-year and four-year institutions of higher education and leaders in accessible technology. The Commission will study the current state of accessible materials for students with disabilities in postsecondary education and make recommendations to the U.S. Congress for improving access to and the distribution of instructional materials in accessible formats. This is the first commission in history charged with examining accessible instructional materials for postsecondary students with disabilities. "

"Our current project How can we encourage the use of Video Modeling, an approach to autism education that has been recommended since 1971? In the past, few people knew about it. Those that knew also understood it was expensive and technical. Today there are more options available to us. We can buy commercial dvds, visit web sites or make our own videos. But, using video modeling, commercial or home-made, without an appreciation for the underlying science is a haphazard approach to education. Our solution is three-fold: 1. Increase public awareness of video modeling 2. Provide public education to ensure that parents and educators understand how to use the tool effectively 3. Advise school administrators how to plan for and coordinate its' use"

Texas Assistive Technology Network (TATN) is working to ensure that students with disabilities receive assistive technology devices and services when needed to benefit from a free, appropriate public education. The TATN consists of representatives from each of the Texas Education Services Centers, and the Texas Education Agency (TEA). Region 4 Education Service Center (Region 4) in Houston, TX provides statewide leadership for the network. Through a comprehensive planning process, the TATN has developed a framework for statewide collaboration. Priorities in professional development and technical assistance focus on providing training, products and services that: build district capacity in assistive technology knowledge and skills promote strategies for building the literacy skills of all students, and are aligned with statewide literacy initiatives.

Education Tech Points is the web site of the Coalition for Assistive Technology in Oregon (CATO).
