"Extreme Speed Booking" The idea behind the site is to introduce students to a variety of books and form classroom book groups. How does Extreme Speed Booking work? A whole lot like speed dating. :) Students spend a little time with each book and then rate them accordingly with "I want to read more", "Interesting", "Not for me", or "I've already read". Students can also make a note of how interested they are in reading the book (maybe a 1-10 scale)? This process introduces students to a variety of books, genres and authors. Students may come across titles and authors they wouldn't otherwise find. It also helps teachers form classroom book groups that are of high-interest and investment to students because they had input.

Book Talk Resources Galore: I thought it would be a good idea to archive all of the Book Talk Tuesday posts- make them a little easier to access. On this blog you will find the links to all of the books that have been shared. We will still post Book Talk Tuesday on The Lemme Library page each week... only once the week is over will I archive the post on this blog.

I think book trailers are an effective way to connect young readers with books. I include book trailers in almost every booktalking session.

In the Share a Story-Shape a Future introductory entry today, I indicated this posting would be a list of blogs I hope you will find useful in your efforts to become more familiar with a wide array of multicultural books and customs. Kathy Otto, an Oregon school librarian, has a blog about incorporating children's books when teaching in grades K-6. We recently put up a book display that has books flying off of the shelves! Flying, I tell you! It seems that as soon as we fill it up, it is empty again.

Since "Maybe Dats Your Pwoblem Too" a poem I wrote about Spiderman, shows up in a lot of anthologies and text books and therefore becomes assignment material for students of many ages, I frequently get emails requesting more information on the poem. So I've prepared the following to answer some basic questions about that poem.

A few days later, the three of us have a present for you. A lovely little family that we call the "Go Away" Dust Jacket series. We wrote a bunch of snarky "leave me alone" messages, I designed a few fancy covers, and now we want to share the entire batch with you.
