The Virginia Center for Civil War Studies and Virginia Tech's Special Collections invite applications for the 2014-15 Virginia Center for Civil War Studies Research Grants. Each grant recipient will visit Virginia Tech's Special Collections in order to conduct research on some aspect of the American Civil War era. An honorarium of $100 per business day will be provided, up to a maximum of $1,000. Recipients will also have the opportunity to give an informal presentation on their projects during their visit. Graduate students, faculty members, and independent scholars are all eligible.

Papers are solicited for the Association for the Advancement of Baltic Studies (AABS) conference to be held June 1-3, 2018, at Stanford University in Palo Alto, California.  Papers are especially encouraged on topics related to Jewish history and culture in the Baltics.  Graduate students are encouraged to submit proposals.  Travel grants are available.  Deadline for proposals is October 15. 

The purpose of this fellowship is to provide financial assistance for African American women graduate students studying abroad, and/or graduate foreign students studying within the U.S.

The NIJ Graduate Research Fellowship program in science, technology, engineering, and mathematics provides awards for research on crime, violence, and other criminal justice-related topics to accredited academic universities that support graduate study leading to research-based doctoral degrees. NIJ invests in doctoral education by supporting universities that sponsor students who demonstrate the potential to successfully complete doctoral degree programs in disciplines relevant to the mission of NIJ and who are in the final stages of graduate study. Applicants sponsoring doctoral students are eligible to apply only if the doctoral research dissertation has direct relevance to providing science, technology, engineering, and mathematics to better prevent and control crime and ensure the fair and impartial administration of criminal justice in the United States. Doctoral students in the fields of science, technology, engineering, or mathematics are encouraged to apply.

Established in 2010, these funding programs award grants to scholars engaged in projects studying Congress, politics, or policy issues. The Dole Archive and Special Collections at the Dole Institute of Politics houses Senator Bob Dole's extensive collections that document his 36-year career in the House and Senate. While in residence, the Research Fellow and Travel Grant awardees will use these collections, which encompass a wide range of legislative, historical, and policy issues. The Travel Grant program is intended to defray costs associated with research-related travel to the Dole Institute. This program offers reimbursements of up to $750 to undergraduate and graduate students, post-doctoral researchers, and independent scholars.  Awards for 2013 must be used before June 30, 2013, while 2014 awards may be used after July 1, 2014. Recipients will be required to submit a final copy of any projects produced through the Travel Grant as well as submitting to the Dole Institute a 500-1000 word statement describing the research conducted here that will be used by the Dole Institute. The Dole Archive and Special Collections is now accepting applications for the 2014 Research Fellowship.  Graduate students and post-doctoral scholars are eligible to apply for this $2,500 award which will support substantial contributions to the study of Congress, politics, or policy issues on a national or international scale. The fellow will be required to conduct research at the Dole Archives for a period of 1-3 weeks between July 1, 2014, and June 30, 2015. In addition, the Fellow will be required to submit a final copy of projects produced through the Fellowship as well as submitting to the Dole Institute a 500-1000 word statement describing the research conducted here that will be used by the Dole Institute.

The Zeta Phi Sorority, Inc., General Graduate Fellowships are available to graduate women working on a professional degree, masters, doctoral or enrolled in post-doctoral study. The fellowships are awarded for full-time study for one academic year (fall-spring). Not to exceed $2,500 per year-paid directly to recipient.

Welcome to the D. Kim Foundation for the History of Science and Technology in East Asia. The Foundation provides fellowships and grants to support graduate students and young scholars who are working in the history of science and technology in East Asia from the beginning of the 20th century, regardless of their nationality, origins, or gender. Comparative studies of East Asia and the West as well as studies in related fields (mathematics, medicine and public health) are also welcome. English is the official language of the Foundation. All application materials (including sample chapters, papers or essays) should be written in English. All publications, workshops, and meetings that the Foundation supports use English only.

The Society for the Anthropology of Food and Nutrition (SAFN) is pleased to invite students to submit papers in competition for the 2013 Christine Wilson Awards presented to outstanding undergraduate and graduate student research papers that examine topics within the perspectives in nutrition, food studies and anthropology. Papers may report on research undertaken in whole or in part by the author. Co -authored work is acceptable, provided that submitting student is first author. Papers must have as their primary focus an anthropological approach to the study of food and/or nutrition and must present original, empirical research; literature reviews are not eligible. Papers that propose a new conceptual framework or outline novel research designs or methodological approaches are especially welcome. Winners will be recognized and presented with an award at the 2013 AAA meeting in Chicago, IL and receive a year's membership in SAFN.

The CLS Program is a program of the U.S. Department of State, Bureau of Educational and Cultural Affairs. It is a fully-funded overseas language program for American undergraduate and graduate students. With the goal of broadening the base of Americans studying and mastering critical languages and to build relationships between the people of the United States and other countries, CLS provides study opportunities to a diverse range of students from across the United States at every level of language learning.

The Woolf Institute in Cambridge, UK, has been dedicated to the provision of graduate and postgraduate study for more than 15 years. In partnership with the Cambridge Commonwealth, European and International Trust, the Woolf Institute established the Woolf Institute Cambridge Scholarships. These scholarships are intended to support outstanding research students at the University of Cambridge who have the potential to become exceptional leaders of the future.  Scholars will be selected from amongst applicants in the Arts, Humanities and Social Sciences. Their research must be relevant to the focus of the Woolf Institute - the multi-disciplinary study of relations between Jews, Christians and Muslims.

The Midwest Slavic Association, with support from the Association for Slavic, East European, and Eurasian Studies (ASEEES), is now welcoming submissions for its annual student essay prize competition for undergraduate and graduate students. Interested students can submit a paper on any topic related to Slavic, East European, and Eurasian Studies to the Midwest Slavic Association for consideration. The best undergraduate paper received will win a one-year membership to ASEEES, and the graduate winner will receive a one-year membership to ASEEES, as well as being considered then for the ASEEES Student Essay Prize at the national level.

The Endeavour Scholarships and Fellowships offer support to non-Australians to undertake study, research or professional development in Australia. All recipients will receive: $3,000 travel allowance (Provision to pay up to $4,500 under special circumstances) $2,000 (for fellowships) or $4,000 (for scholarships) establishment allowance $3,000 monthly stipend (paid up to the maximum programme duration on a pro-rata basis) tuition fees as shown in the tables below, paid up to the maximum study/research duration on a pro-rata basis. With this Dear Colleague Letter, NSF is providing advance notice of a change in the eligibility of prospective applicants to the Graduate Research Fellowship Program (GRFP) to allow the community to plan accordingly. Effective as of the 2017 competition (Fall 2016 deadlines), NSF will limit graduate students to only one application to the GRFP, submitted either in the first year or in the second year of graduate school. No change is made to the eligibility of undergraduates, of bachelor's degree holders without any graduate study, or of individuals who have had an interruption in graduate study of at least two consecutive years.

We are pleased to welcome American students to apply for the Critical Language Scholarship (CLS) Program to learn critical foreign languages next summer on a fully-funded study abroad program. The CLS Program is an intensive overseas language and cultural immersion program for American students enrolled at U.S. colleges and universities. Students spend eight to ten weeks abroad studying one of 15 critical languages. The program includes intensive language instruction and structured cultural enrichment experiences designed to promote rapid language gains.

The Autism Science Foundation is inviting applications for its Pre- and Postdoctoral Training Awards and Medical School Gap Year Research Training Awards from graduate students, medical students, and postdoctoral fellows interested in pursuing careers in basic and clinical research relevant to autism spectrum disorders. The proposed training must be scientifically linked to autism and may be broadened to include training in a closely related area of scientific research, including but not limited to human behavior across the lifespan (language, learning, behavior, communication, social function, motor skills and planning, epilepsy, sleep, repetitive disorders); neurobiology (anatomy, development, neuroimaging); pharmacology; neuropathology; genetics; epigenetics; genomics; epigenomics; immunology; molecular and cellular mechanisms; studies employing model organisms and systems; and studies of treatment and service delivery.

The National Institutes of Health (NIH) awards senior individual research training fellowships to experienced scientists who wish to make major changes in the direction of their research careers or who wish to broaden their scientific background by acquiring new research capabilities as independent investigators in research fields relevant to the missions of participating NIH Institutes and Centers. This Funding Opportunity Announcement (FOA) is designed specifically for applicants proposing research that does not involve leading an independent clinical trial, a clinical trial feasibility study, or an ancillary study to a clinical trial, but does allow applicants to propose research experience in a clinical trial led by a sponsor or co-sponsor.

The Ruth L. Kirschstein National Research Service Award (NRSA) Individual Fellowship for Students at Institutions Without NIH-Funded Institutional Predoctoral Dual-Degree Training Programs (Parent F30) award will support students at institutions without formal NIH-funded institutional predoctoral dual-degree training programs. The purpose of this FOA is to enhance the integrated research and clinical training of promising predoctoral students, who are matriculated in a combined MD/PhD or other dual-doctoral degree training program (e.g., DO/PhD, DDS/PhD, AuD/PhD, DVM/PhD), and who intend careers as physician/clinician-scientists. Applicants must propose an integrated research and clinical training plan and a dissertation research project in scientific health-related fields relevant to the missions of the participating NIH Institutes and Centers. The fellowship experience is expected to clearly enhance the individuals' potential to develop into a productive, independent physician/clinician-scientist. The English Speaking Union of the United States each year sponsors a travel grant for study or research providing a stipend of up to $2,000. This competition is open to qualified under-graduate and post-graduate students, faculty, and others involved in academic pursuits that are in accord with the goal of the English Speaking Union of promoting education and understanding among the English speaking peoples of the world. The grant is designed to assist worthy individuals who are active in the fields of Business, the Humanities, Science and Engineering, Liberal, Fine or Applied Arts and who wish to study or conduct research either in the United States or in one of the countries of the British Commonwealth.
