    Each year, approximately 25 scholars are selected as Members in the School of Social Science. A completed doctorate or equivalent is required by the application deadline. Memberships are awarded at both the junior and senior levels. They are for the full academic year only unless the scholar is from a country with an academic calendar that is substantially different than the one in the U.S., in which case single-term Memberships will be considered. Scholars may be considered for a second residency if a sufficient amount of time has passed since their initial Membership. Members are expected only to pursue their own research and participate in the seminars. The theme for 2021-22 is "Political Mobilizations and Social Movements," but applications outside the theme are also welcomed. An interdisciplinary dialogue will be fostered and applications are strongly encouraged from scholars across the social sciences, whether or not their research corresponds to the theme.

The application should make a cohesive argument for how the applicant will expand his or her expertise. The research plan should evolve in conjunction with the development of new expertise, and the mentoring plan should describe how the proposed mentors will support applicants in acquiring that expertise. Proposed research plans must address questions that are relevant to policy and practice in the Foundation's focus areas.

    The NSF ADVANCE program contributes to the National Science Foundation's goal of a more diverse and capable science and engineering workforce.1 In this solicitation, the NSF ADVANCE program seeks to build on prior NSF ADVANCE work and other research and literature concerning gender, racial, and ethnic equity. The NSF ADVANCE program goal is to broaden the implementation of evidence-based systemic change strategies that promote equity for STEM2 faculty in academic workplaces and the academic profession. The NSF ADVANCE program provides grants to enhance the systemic factors that support equity and inclusion and to mitigate the systemic factors that create inequities in the academic profession and workplaces. Systemic (or organizational) inequities may exist in areas such as policy and practice as well as in organizational culture and climate. For example, practices in academic departments that result in the inequitable allocation of service or teaching assignments may impede research productivity, delay advancement, and create a culture of differential treatment and rewards. Similarly, policies and procedures that do not mitigate implicit bias in hiring, tenure, and promotion decisions could lead to women and racial and ethnic minorities being evaluated less favorably, perpetuating historical under-participation in STEM academic careers and contributing to an academic climate that is not inclusive.

The Consortium will form multi-disciplinary teams composed of members from the CCs and the DCC to undertake a prospective longitudinal observational study of the occurrence of diabetes that occurs during an acute pancreatitis episode or subsequently, with an emphasis on type 1 diabetes (T1D). The study will be designed to gain insight into the incidence, clinical evolution, etiology, type and pathophysiology of the T1D and other forms of diabetes after acute pancreatitis..     An organization that applies to the Challenge America category, may not submit another application to the Grants for Arts Projects category. You may apply to other National Endowment for the Arts funding opportunities, including Our Town, in addition to Challenge America. In each case, the request must be for a distinctly different project or a distinctly different phase of the same project, with a different period of performance and costs. The Arts Endowment's support of a project may start on or after January 1, 2021. Grants awarded under these guidelines generally may cover a period of performance of up to two years. An organization that has received Challenge America grants in FY 2018, 2019, and 2020 may not apply for a Challenge America grant under these FY 2021 guidelines. That organization may apply for FY 2021 support under other National Endowment for the Arts funding opportunities including Grants for Arts Projects.     Tribal Resources Grant Program - Technical Assistance (TRGP-TA) program funds are used to provide funding to support tribal law enforcement agencies through training and technical assistance efforts around community policing topics. The COPS Office, a federal provider of innovative, customer-focused resources that address the continuing and emerging needs of those engaged in enhancing public safety through community policing, has designed the TRGP-TA solicitation to address tribal law enforcement training and technical assistance efforts. The 2020 TRGP-TA program has been established to fund specific projects related to the following topic areas: (1) Cold Cases and Missing or Murdered Indigenous Persons; and (2) Developing an Alaskan Law Enforcement Recruitment Strategy. Detailed descriptions of each of these topics are available in the application guide. There is up to $800,000 in TRGP-TA funds available. All awards are subject to the availability of appropriated funds and any modifications or additional requirements that may be imposed by law. Funding is limited, and it is expected that this solicitation will be very competitive. Each award or cooperative agreement is two years (24 months) in length. There is no local match.     With this solicitation, NIJ seeks applications for research and evaluation projects that will improve knowledge and practice related to identifying, preventing, investigating, prosecuting, and reducing technology-facilitated abuse, including sextortion, nonconsensual pornography (revenge porn), doxing, swatting, cyberstalking, and cyber-hate. NIJ will support scientifically rigorous projects designed to produce highly practical findings that will inform program, policy, practice and other efforts to address such crimes. NIJ is particularly interested in research and evaluation projects addressing the following topics . Risk and protective factors associated with an individual falling victim to technology-facilitated abuse, as well as how individuals or organizations become involved in these types of crimes. . Studies of the costs and consequences of technology-facilitated abuse (financial and otherwise), as well as how Internet-enabled harassment may be related to other crime(s). . Studies of the effectiveness of approaches in identifying, preventing, investigating, and prosecuting technology-facilitated abuse (This may include consideration of legislation and/or training). . Studies of the frequency and impacts of technology-facilitated abuse, in particular their effect on women and ethnic, religious, and racial minorities.
