    The Board of Regents is seeking high quality, focused cooperative education and internship program proposals from Ohio institutions of higher education and their partners. This program has been funded  through one-time casino licensing fees; it is expected that the funds will be awarded to build systems to sustain co-ops and internships beyond the direct investment from the State and to ensure these workbased learning opportunities are relevant to the needs of students and businesses. Funds will be awarded to build the capability and capacity of programs to engage more students, more businesses,  and more faculty members in co-op and internship programs. The programs should address the talent needs of JobsOhio key industries.

    ACHA's Healthy Campus 2020 serves as a framework for improving the health of all students, faculty, and staff on campuses nationwide.  Strategies recommended in Healthy Campus 2020 guidelines extend beyond traditional interventions of education, diagnosis, treatment, and health care at the clinical level. Through the collaborative efforts of health, academic, student affairs, and administrative colleagues, institutions of higher education can foster healthy environments and behaviors. Healthy Campus 2020 resources include national objectives for students and faculty/staff, an action model, and a toolkit for implementation based on the MAP-IT (mobilize, assess, plan, implement, and track) framework. Priority consideration will be given to proposals that result in sustained mobilization and engagement of campus partners to achieve the goals of Healthy Campus 2020.

Stephan D. Weiss, PhD Mental Health Fund for Higher Education Writing Prize - 0 views

    The Stephan D. Weiss, PhD, Mental Health Fund for Higher Education was established in December 2010 to support efforts to promote and improve the quality of mental health care for college students. The fund seeks to encourage the development of creative initiatives that will enhance mental health service delivery to students. Support from the fund can be directed to college health professionals or to students who plan to work in this field. This year, the fund will support the Weiss Writing Prize, which will be awarded to the lead author of a pivotal publication in college mental health. American College Health Association Institutional or Individual Members are eligible to apply. The winning article should demonstrate a successful student retention program for those with mental health issues. The program will provide creative, innovative solutions that could be implemented on other campuses. Preference will be given to articles published in the Journal of American College Health.

    The intent of the FY14 PH/TBIRP Community Partners in Mental Health Research Award (CPMHRA) is to address Section 706 by supporting research on the causes, development, and innovative treatment of mental health, substance use disorders, TBI, and suicide prevention in members of the National Guard and Reserves, their family members, and their caregivers. The focus of the CPMHRA is on research only; proposed projects should NOT include other treatment, education, and outreach efforts. Research projects should be carried out by or in collaboration with community partners. Community partners as referenced in Section 706 are private non-profit organizations or institutions that engage in (1) research on the causes, development, and innovative treatment; (2) identifying and disseminating evidence-based treatments; and/or (3) outreach and education for mental health, substance use disorders, TBI, and suicide prevention in members of the National Guard and Reserves, their family members, and their caregivers.

    The Institute of Education Sciences (IES), in collaboration with the Educational Testing Service (ETS), is sponsoring a series of training workshops for individual researchers and research teams to explore and use data and assessment tools from the Program for the International Assessment of Adult Competencies (PIAAC). These workshops are designed for those who want to go beyond computing basic statistics with the PIAAC databases. During the workshops we will train participants to conduct simple and complex analysis with the PIAAC data. We will also help participants familiarize themselves with the statistical and data complexities of PIAAC. The general day-to-day schedule of the workshops will include both presentations and hands-on practical assignments using released PIAAC databases.

OVC FY 17 Developing Future Victim Specialists for Indian Country - 0 views

    The goal of this project is to begin building a pipeline of victim service professionals that will serve American Indian /Alaska Native victims in locations that are often remote and where positions are often hard to fill. This program will work to identify students in relevant disciplines (e.g., sociology, social work, psychology, etc.) to serve in victim service positions either at BIA or in tribally based victim service programs. Eligible applicants will include tribal colleges and universities (individually or as a consortium), non-tribal colleges and universities that are located close to American Indian/Alaska Native communities, or any other organization with connections to both tribes and educational institutions that educate students pursuing degrees in fields relevant to victim services. It will be up to the applicant to create and propose a program including structural and administrative make-up. However, the applicant will identify students interested in serving in victim service positions in Indian Country or Alaska Native locations, handle the administrative aspects of the project (including setting internship requirements, addressing privacy issues associated with students interning in direct service positions etc.), and work directly with either BIA or a local tribally based victim service program to place students in internship or practicum experiences for credit or pay.
