The Board of Regents is seeking high quality, focused cooperative education and internship program proposals from Ohio institutions of higher education and their partners. This program has been funded  through one-time casino licensing fees; it is expected that the funds will be awarded to build systems to sustain co-ops and internships beyond the direct investment from the State and to ensure these workbased learning opportunities are relevant to the needs of students and businesses. Funds will be awarded to build the capability and capacity of programs to engage more students, more businesses,  and more faculty members in co-op and internship programs. The programs should address the talent needs of JobsOhio key industries.

ACHA's Healthy Campus 2020 serves as a framework for improving the health of all students, faculty, and staff on campuses nationwide.  Strategies recommended in Healthy Campus 2020 guidelines extend beyond traditional interventions of education, diagnosis, treatment, and health care at the clinical level. Through the collaborative efforts of health, academic, student affairs, and administrative colleagues, institutions of higher education can foster healthy environments and behaviors. Healthy Campus 2020 resources include national objectives for students and faculty/staff, an action model, and a toolkit for implementation based on the MAP-IT (mobilize, assess, plan, implement, and track) framework. Priority consideration will be given to proposals that result in sustained mobilization and engagement of campus partners to achieve the goals of Healthy Campus 2020.

The Stephan D. Weiss, PhD, Mental Health Fund for Higher Education was established in December 2010 to support efforts to promote and improve the quality of mental health care for college students. The fund seeks to encourage the development of creative initiatives that will enhance mental health service delivery to students. Support from the fund can be directed to college health professionals or to students who plan to work in this field. This year, the fund will support the Weiss Writing Prize, which will be awarded to the lead author of a pivotal publication in college mental health. American College Health Association Institutional or Individual Members are eligible to apply. The winning article should demonstrate a successful student retention program for those with mental health issues. The program will provide creative, innovative solutions that could be implemented on other campuses. Preference will be given to articles published in the Journal of American College Health.

More than 200,000 students are currently enrolled in high school psychology. APF wants to support high quality education in psychology and to nurture the next generation of psychologists, with up to $20,000 for projects that support the goals of the program: Reinforce the discipline of psychology as a science in secondary school curricula.Expand the profile of psychology as a science to attract talented high school students to pursue the discipline.Convey to high school students that psychological science is a tool to improve society.Teach students about career options that apply psychology outside of an academic setting (e.g. NASA, organizational development).Proposals for programs must focus on supporting the education of talented high school students.

The intent of the FY14 PH/TBIRP Community Partners in Mental Health Research Award (CPMHRA) is to address Section 706 by supporting research on the causes, development, and innovative treatment of mental health, substance use disorders, TBI, and suicide prevention in members of the National Guard and Reserves, their family members, and their caregivers. The focus of the CPMHRA is on research only; proposed projects should NOT include other treatment, education, and outreach efforts. Research projects should be carried out by or in collaboration with community partners. Community partners as referenced in Section 706 are private non-profit organizations or institutions that engage in (1) research on the causes, development, and innovative treatment; (2) identifying and disseminating evidence-based treatments; and/or (3) outreach and education for mental health, substance use disorders, TBI, and suicide prevention in members of the National Guard and Reserves, their family members, and their caregivers.

The Division of Physics (PHY) supports physics research and education in the nation's colleges and universities across a broad range of physics disciplines that span scales of space and time from the largest to the smallest and the oldest to the youngest.  The Division is comprised of disciplinary programs covering experimental and theoretical research in the following major subfields of physics: Accelerator Science; Atomic, Molecular, Optical and Plasma Physics; Computational Physics; Elementary Particle Physics; Gravitational Physics; Nuclear Physics; Particle Astrophysics; Physics of Living Systems; Quantum Information Science; Education and Interdisciplinary Research.

The Esther Katz Rosen Precollege Psychology Grant Program provides financial support for efforts aimed at improving the quality of education in psychological science and its application in the secondary schools for high ability students. Proposals must focus on supplying education for gifted and talented high school students. 

Established in 2004, the grant program is intended to encourage and support students conducting research pursuant to graduate and postgraduate studies in disciplines related to assessment, intervention, and support of learners with autism spectrum disorders and their families. Grants of up to $2,000 will be awarded to projects related to the analysis, evaluation, or comparison of assessment models, treatment models, or service systems; applied aspects of early and/or school-based education, behavioral, or communication intervention; adult issues such as containing education, employment, housing models and later intervention; and/or issues related to family support, social and community integration, and assessment and intervention with challenging behavior.

The American Psychological Foundation is accepting applications for its David H. And Beverly A. Barlow Grant. Through the program, a single grant of up to $7,500 will support novel basic and clinical research on anxiety and anxiety-related disorders conducted by a graduate student or early-career researcher. To be eligible for the grant, applicants must be a graduate student or early-career researcher (no more than ten years postdoctoral) and be affiliated with a nonprofit charitable, educational, or scientific institution or a governmental entity operating exclusively for charitable and educational purposes. The American Psychological Foundation provides financial support for innovative research and programs that enhance the power of psychology to elevate the human condition and advance human potential, both today and for generations to come. As part of this mission, APF is accepting applications for its APF Trauma Psychology Grant. Through the annual program, a single grant of up to $3,000 will be awarded in support innovative work aimed at alleviating trauma. To be eligible, applicants must be an early-career psychologist (no more than ten years postdoctoral); be affiliated with a nonprofit charitable, educational, or scientific institution, or governmental entity operating exclusively for charitable and educational purposes; have a demonstrated knowledge of trauma and trauma research; have demonstrated competence and capacity to execute the proposed work; and, if human participants are involved, have IRB approval from his/her host institution before funding can be awarded.

The Institute of Education Sciences (IES), in collaboration with the Educational Testing Service (ETS), is sponsoring a series of training workshops for individual researchers and research teams to explore and use data and assessment tools from the Program for the International Assessment of Adult Competencies (PIAAC). These workshops are designed for those who want to go beyond computing basic statistics with the PIAAC databases. During the workshops we will train participants to conduct simple and complex analysis with the PIAAC data. We will also help participants familiarize themselves with the statistical and data complexities of PIAAC. The general day-to-day schedule of the workshops will include both presentations and hands-on practical assignments using released PIAAC databases.

The American Psychological Foundation is accepting applications for its Visionary Grants program. Through the program, grants of up to $20,000 will be awarded to programs that use psychology to address social problems in one of four priority areas: violence prevention; understanding the connection between behavior and health (e.g., wellness, diabetes, obesity); understanding and eliminating stigma and prejudice (e.g., race, gender, sexual orientation, religion, age, disability, and socioeconomic status); and applying psychology to vulnerable, at-risk populations (e.g., serious mental illness, returning military, those who are incarcerated, and the economically disadvantaged). Preference will be given to pilot projects that, if successful, would be strong candidates for support from major federal and foundation funding agencies as well as "demonstration projects" that promise to generalize findings broadly to similar settings. To be eligible, applicants must be a graduate student or early-career researcher (no more than ten years postdoctoral) affiliated with a nonprofit charitable, educational, or scientific institution or a government operating exclusively for charitable and educational purposes

The American Psychological Foundation is currently accepting applications for its General Psychology Mary Whiton Calkins grant. Through the program, a single grant of up to $3,000 will be awarded in support of faculty research by an individual who teaches at a primarily undergraduate-serving institution and who identifies undergraduate education as his/her primary focus. Priority will be given to projects likely to be presented and/or published in a peer‐reviewed outlet or that could be made available to division members through Web resources. The foundation has a particular interest in research that combines multiple subfields within the discipline or addresses overarching themes.

Grants of up to $2,000 will be awarded for projects related to the analysis, evaluation, or comparison of assessment models, treatment models, or service systems; applied aspects of early and/or school-based education, behavioral, or communication intervention; adult issues such as containing education, employment, housing models and later intervention; and/or issues related to family support, social and community integration, and assessment and intervention with challenging behavior. Priority will be given to studies that will likely produce practical and clearly objective results that may aid parents, families, professionals, and people with autism to make more fully informed choices that will lead to healthier and happier lives. International students are eligible to apply.

The goal of this project is to begin building a pipeline of victim service professionals that will serve American Indian /Alaska Native victims in locations that are often remote and where positions are often hard to fill. This program will work to identify students in relevant disciplines (e.g., sociology, social work, psychology, etc.) to serve in victim service positions either at BIA or in tribally based victim service programs. Eligible applicants will include tribal colleges and universities (individually or as a consortium), non-tribal colleges and universities that are located close to American Indian/Alaska Native communities, or any other organization with connections to both tribes and educational institutions that educate students pursuing degrees in fields relevant to victim services. It will be up to the applicant to create and propose a program including structural and administrative make-up. However, the applicant will identify students interested in serving in victim service positions in Indian Country or Alaska Native locations, handle the administrative aspects of the project (including setting internship requirements, addressing privacy issues associated with students interning in direct service positions etc.), and work directly with either BIA or a local tribally based victim service program to place students in internship or practicum experiences for credit or pay.
