The Course Hero-Woodrow Wilson Fellowship for Excellence in Teaching will support rising stars in the academy who love teaching, demonstrate excellence as educators, and are making their mark as exceptional researchers, poised to shape their fields. Designed for young scholars working towards tenure, the Course Hero-WW Fellowship is a "genius grant" that will emphasize the balance between scholarly excellence and commitment to teaching practice that draws on new approaches to pedagogy, creating a new level of engagement for students in and beyond the classroom. In short, Fellows will be emerging heroes in their fields, on a clear trajectory to become great college educators. In its inaugural year, the Course Hero-WW Fellowship will identify five outstanding junior faculty members. Fellows will receive a one-year grant of $40,000-approximately $30,000 to support the engagement of a student assistant and the balance to be used for research and travel support. Exceptional candidates teach in ways that build student confidence and mastery of a subject; encourage critical thinking; explore foundational concepts through the lens of broader themes and global events; promote the power of learning communities beyond the classroom; leverage technology to complement the classroom experience; consider and serve different learning styles; prepare students for lifelong learning; and can serve as replicable teaching models for other educators. Selection takes place in June 2018. The five Fellows will be invited to attend the Course Hero Education Summit in July 2018, where their Fellowships will be announced.

Established by the American Psychiatric Foundation (APF), a philanthropic and educational subsidiary of the American Psychiatric Association (APA), the Typical or Troubled?™ School Mental Health Education Grant Program provides funding to implement the Typical or Troubled?™ School Mental Health educational program in up to ten schools in a community. 

The goal of this NIEHS undergraduate research education R25 program is to support educational activities that enhance the diversity of the biomedical, behavioral and clinical research workforce in the environmental health sciences. To this end, this funding opportunity announcement (FOA) encourages the development of creative educational activities with a primary focus on research experiences for undergraduates at the junior and senior level.

The NIH Research Education Program (R25) supports research education activities in the mission areas of the NIH. The over-arching goal of this National Institute of Mental Health (NIMH) R25 program is to support educational activities that complement and/or enhance the training of a workforce to meet the nations biomedical, behavioral and clinical research needs and advance the priorities outlined in the Office of AIDS Research (OAR) Annual Strategic Plan and the research program priorities of the NIMH Division of AIDS Research (DAR).

The goal of the RCN program is to advance a field or create new directions in research or education by supporting groups of investigators to communicate and coordinate their research, training and educational activities across disciplinary, organizational, geographic and international boundaries. The RCN program provides opportunities to foster new collaborations, including international partnerships, and address interdisciplinary topics. Innovative ideas for implementing novel networking strategies, collaborative technologies, training, broadening participation, and development of community standards for data and meta-data are especially encouraged. RCN awards are not meant to support existing networks; nor are they meant to support the activities of established collaborations RCN awards also do not support primary research. Rather, the RCN program supports the means by which investigators can share information and ideas, coordinate ongoing or planned research activities, foster synthesis and new collaborations, develop community standards, and in other ways advance science and education through communication and sharing of ideas.

This award is designed to facilitate SPP trainees' ability to attend professional meetings that will enhance their educational pursuits. The C. Eugene Walker Education Award was established in 2007 by Dr. Walker. One or more awards may be made up to $750 each.

CAREER: The Faculty Early Career Development (CAREER) Program is a Foundation-wide activity that offers the National Science Foundation's most prestigious awards in support of junior faculty who exemplify the role of teacher-scholars through outstanding research, excellent education and the integration of education and research within the context of the mission of their organizations. Such activities should build a firm foundation for a lifetime of leadership in integrating education and research. NSF encourages submission of CAREER proposals from junior faculty members at all CAREER-eligible organizations and especially encourages women, members of underrepresented minority groups, and persons with disabilities to apply.

AERA invites education-related research proposals using NCES, NSF, and other federal databases. Research Grants are available for faculty at institutions of higher education, postdoctoral researchers, and other doctoral-level scholars. Applications are encouraged from a variety of disciplines, such as but not limited to, education, sociology, economics, psychology, demography, statistics, and psychometrics.

People With Disabilities Foundation (PWDF), an IRS § 501(c)(3) public, nonprofit agency that serves people with psychiatric and/or developmental disabilities, is pleased to announce Phase 2 of its pilot grant program. PWDF's mission is to provide education and advocacy for people with psychiatric and/or developmental disabilities, so that they can achieve equal opportunities in all aspects of life.  PWDF currently accomplishes its mission through two programs:   Advocacy and Public Awareness and Education. PWDF is continuing the development of its grant program.  Grants may be used for a specific program, project, or general operating expenses if related to a specific project or program in furtherance of providing advocacy, education, vocational, or other services to people with psychiatric and/or developmental disabilities. It is anticipated that this pilot program will award smaller grants in the range of $5,000 to $12,500, with a goal of future program expansion that will make larger awards. Letters of Interest are due November 6, 2017.

The goal of this funding opportunity announcement is to support research that will further elucidate the pathways involved in the relationship between education and health outcomes and in doing so to carefully identify the specific aspects and qualities of education that are responsible for this relationship and what the mediating factors are that affect the nature of the causal relationship. The annual award recognizes a teaching program that demonstrates innovation in psychiatric education. The award consists of a grant and a certificate and also will cover the expenses of one representative from the winning program to attend the college's annual meeting. The award is open to any creative/innovative program for psychiatric education that has been in operation for at least two years and has been a part of a U.S.- or Canadian-approved psychiatric residency training program. Trainees may include medical students, residents, other physicians, allied mental health professionals, and/or members of the community.

The Science and Technology Centers (STC): Integrative Partnerships program supports exceptionally innovative, complex research and education projects that require large-scale, long-term awards. STCs focus on creating new scientific paradigms, establishing entirely new scientific disciplines and developing transformative technologies which have the potential for broad scientific or societal impact. STCs conduct world-class research through partnerships among institutions of higher education, national laboratories, industrial organizations, other public or private entities, and via international collaborations, as appropriate. They provide a means to undertake potentially groundbreaking investigations at the interfaces of disciplines and/or highly innovative approaches within disciplines. STCs may involve any area of science and engineering that NSF supports. STC investments support the NSF vision of creating and exploiting new concepts in science and engineering and providing global leadership in research and education.

July 16 | 3:00-4:30pm ET The IUSE: EHR program seeks to promote novel, creative, and transformative approaches to generating and using new knowledge about STEM teaching and learning to improve STEM education for all undergraduates. The program supports proposals interested in improving undergraduate education, developing faculty expertise, preparing K-12 teachers, and providing all undergraduate students with STEM competencies and a basic understanding of STEM concepts and principles. All projects must contribute to the body of knowledge about what works in undergraduate STEM education and the conditions that lead to improved STEM teaching and learning.

Major League Baseball and the Major League Baseball Players Association are launching the Healthy Relationships Community Grants initiative to address positive relationship health, with self and others. The initiative will focus on three distinct areas: 1. Build and improve relationship skills of the next generation as a prevention strategy. Organizational efforts may include, but are not limited to, the following: -Educate the public (with a preference for youth populations) on the difference between healthy and unhealthy relationships as it relates to inter-personal violence (e.g., intimate partner, family, or teen dating violence) as part of prevention and awareness efforts (e.g., Create, produce and distribute PSAs with relevant content and call to action, Conference/events with a focus on education) -Support existing or introduce new programming on how to break the cycle of violence 2. Build and improve mental health resiliency for vulnerable populations. Organizational efforts may include, but are not limited to, the following: - Provide greater access to quality mental health services and wellness programs - Preventative programs designed to reduce suicide, suicidal ideations and self-harm - Training programs for mental health professionals working with vulnerable populations - School or community-based interventions for vulnerable populations 3. Strengthen and provide critical services to survivors of domestic violence. Organizational efforts may include, but are not limited to, the following: - Capacity building to support organizational mission - Mental health services for survivors of domestic violence - Assist survivors in rebuilding their lives (e.g., professional skills and life skills workshops, Additional education and support materials to improve employee readiness/workplace development skills) - Advocacy efforts to reduce domestic violence, dating violence, sexual assault, and stalking

BEA will award up to $10,000 per year in conference grants. Awards must support organizations or groups of psychologists planning conferences and workshops intended to enhance the quality of graduate and professional education. Proposals must address how the conference or workshop would lead to improvements in graduate and postgraduate training and education.

This Dear Colleague Letter is to alert all basic science and engineering communities, including education researchers, to the Foundation's interest in receiving proposals that, while investigating fundamental questions, seek to pose and test hypotheses that could inform research in forensic sciences. The interest spans both disciplinary and interdisciplinary research. Additionally, the wide public interest in forensics can provide an effective vehicle for basic research in science education. International partnerships, where appropriate, are encouraged, as are synergistic interactions with forensics and/or law enforcement agencies and organizations. Proposals for workshops to explore fundamental science drivers and their relevance to forensics are also welcome. 

The Office of Juvenile Justice and Delinquency Prevention (OJJDP) seeks to enhance the ability of the juvenile justice, child welfare, mental health, and education systems to share information that will facilitate the provision of services and ensure better outcomes for children, youth, and families. OJJDP will deliver training and technical assistance (TTA) services to build state, local, and tribal capacities to implement solutions to address this nationwide need. Through this program, OJJDP will build the capacity of juvenile justice, child welfare, mental health, and education systems and use existing information sharing standards, procedures, tools, and practices across agencies to improve services and outcomes for youth, families, and communities.

In keeping with the Spencer Foundation's mission, this program aims to fund academic work that will contribute to the improvement of education, broadly conceived. Historically, the work we have funded through these grants has spanned, a range of topics and disciplines, including education, psychology, sociology, economics, history, and anthropology, and they employ a wide range of research methods.

The purpose of the Institutional Research and Academic Career Development Award (IRACDA) Program is to develop a diverse group of highly trained biomedical and behavioral scientists to address the Nation's biomedical workforce needs. The strategy is to promote effective partnerships between research-intensive institutions (RII) and institutions that have a historical mission or a demonstrated commitment to educating students from diverse backgrounds underrepresented in the biomedical and behavioral research enterprise of the nation. The IRACDA program provides support for a traditional mentored postdoctoral research experience at an RII combined with an opportunity for these fellows to develop critical academic skills, including teaching, through workshops and through mentored teaching assignments at a partner institution. The primary goals of the IRACDA program are to (1) develop a group of highly trained biomedical and behavioral scientists who have the necessary knowledge and skills to pursue independent research and teaching careers in academia; and (2) strengthen and modernize science educational offerings at partner institutions, and promote links between RII and the partner institution(s).
