    Wishing to advance research into the health benefits - physical, mental and emotional - of physical activity and sports, the Weiss Research Endowment has been established for ACSM students studying in this field. One project will be funded for applied rather than for basic research, with the intent of applying the results to programs involving physical activity and sports. The psychological and emotional benefits of physical activity are of particular importance to the benefactors of this endowment, Drs. Raymond and Rosalee Weiss, and proposals addressing those issues will be given priority. One reward of $1,500 is available.

2018 Autism Pilot and Research Awards - 0 views

    The mission of the Simons Foundation Autism Research Initiative is to improve the diagnosis and treatment of autism spectrum disorders by funding, catalyzing, and driving research of the greatest quality. The program is seeking applications for SFARI awards from individuals who will conduct bold, imaginative, rigorous, and relevant research. Applications are invited for two categories of grants, including SFARI Pilot Awards and SFARI Pilot Awards. 1) SFARI Pilot Awards: These grants are intended for innovative, high-impact proposals requesting support for small-scale projects or early-stage experiments that will build on preliminary data or a prior track record and lead to competitive applications for funding by SFARI or other organizations. Investigators new to the field of autism are encouraged to apply. The maximum budget is $330,000 (including indirect costs) over two years. 2) SFARI Research Awards: Grants awarded through this category are designed for investigators with demonstrated expertise conducting compelling high-impact research on an experimental hypothesis for which, in most cases, preliminary data have already been gathered. The foundation also will consider projects focused on a central hypothesis where success depends on close collaboration between two or more labs. The initiative expects to fund proposals for a maximum of $975,000 over to three years. All applicants and key collaborators must hold a Ph.D., M.D., or equivalent degree and have a faculty position or equivalent at a college, university, medical school, or other research facility.

Graduate Psychology Education (GPE) Program - 0 views

    The purpose of this program is to train doctoral health psychology students, interns, and post-doctoral residents to provide integrated, interdisciplinary, behavioral health and Opioid Use Disorder (OUD) and other Substance Use Disorder (SUD) 2 prevention and treatment services in high need and high demand areas. The program also supports faculty development of health service psychology. For purposes of this NOFO, high need and high demand areas are identified by two defined sources: o County of experiential training site location has less than 10 licensed psychologists per 100,000 population as found in the APA County Level Analysis of US Licensed Psychologists o Experiential training site is located in a Mental Health Professional Shortage Areas (HPSAs) or that are Facility Mental HPSAs with a score of 16 or above as found in the HPSA Find Tool. The overarching goal of the program is to prepare and build capacity of the doctoral health psychology workforce, to provide mental/behavioral health care, including OUD and other SUD prevention and treatment services, in high need and high demand areas.

    The goal of this FOA is to support short courses geared to behavioral and social scientists who have existing expertise in aging research and can make research contributions in Alzheimer's disease and Alzheimer's disease-related dementias (AD/ADRD) with additional knowledge about the disease and related research resources. Fields of behavioral and social science research relevant for this FOA are health economics, labor economics, health services research, healthcare policy, public policy, demography, sociology, social epidemiology, psychology, and social neuroscience. Priority areas of focus include, but are not limited to, the following: dementia care; dementia caregiver research; cognitive and dementia epidemiology; behavioral and social pathways of AD/ADRD; role of social, contextual, environmental, and institutional factors in AD/ADRD; early psychological changes preceding AD/ADRD onset; prevention of AD/ADRD; disparities in AD/ADRD or dementia-related outcomes; and research resources and methods for studying the determinants and impact of AD/ADRD.

    Fahs-Beck Fund for Research and Experimentation is accepting applications from behavioral or psychological research studies based in the United States or Canada. Through its Faculty/Post-Doctoral Fellows program, the fund will award grants of up to $20,000 in support of studies aimed at developing, refining, evaluating, or disseminating innovative interventions designed to prevent or ameliorate major social, psychological, behavioral, or public health problems affecting children, adults, couples, families, or communities. The fund will also consider studies that have the potential for adding significantly to knowledge about such problems. Projects must be focused on the United States or Canada or on a comparison between the U.S. or Canada and one (or more) other country. To be eligible, applicants must be a faculty member at an accredited college or university or an individual affiliated with an accredited human service organization that is tax exempt under Section 501(c)(3) of the Internal Revenue Code. In addition, the principal investigator must have an earned doctorate in a relevant discipline and relevant experience.

    The Early Career Faculty Innovator Program is inviting a second cohort  of early career faculty in the social and behavioral sciences to co-develop interdisciplinary and actionable research projects in partnership with scientists and engineers at the National Center for Atmospheric Research (NCAR) in Boulder, Colorado.
