As part of its overall commitment to diversity, SPA intends to promote and support ethnic diversity representation at the SPA Annual Conventions. Toward that end, the organization is now offering one diversity support grant of $1000.00 or two diversity support grants of $500 each to support ethnically diverse professionals or students involved in personality assessment who seek to attend the annual convention.

This cooperative agreement will establish and maintain an interdisciplinary, multicenter research forum for scientific collaboration and infrastructure building, which will provide national leadership in research designed to improve the behavioral, mental, social, and/or cognitive health and wellbeing of children and adolescents with Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) and other developmental disabilities. As authorized by Section 399BB of the Autism CARES Act, the research network will determine the evidence-based practices for interventions to improve the behavioral health of individuals with ASD and other developmental disabilities, develop guidelines for those interventions, and disseminate information related to such research and guidelines. The AIR-B Network will be one of two HRSA-supported research networks that will provide national leadership in research to advance the evidence base on effective interventions for children and adolescents with ASD and other developmental disabilities, with AIR-B having a focus on addressing behavioral health and wellbeing. As directed by the FY 2015 Congressional Appropriations for HRSA's Autism CARES Act programs, HRSA is broadening the scope of this funding opportunity to reflect an additional emphasis on addressing disparities in effective interventions and treatment and access to care experienced by underserved minority and rural communities. In particular, applicants should consider diverse ethnic/racial, cultural, linguistic, socioeconomic, and geographic (e.g., rural/urban, tribal) populations for whom there is little evidence regarding the effectiveness of interventions, or for whom access to effective treatments is limited. Applicants should include plans to conduct multi-site research protocols on innovative treatment models, including the use of telehealth networks, to improve behavioral health interventions and treatment for ASD in underserved minority and rural communities. Through its Fellowship Programs, the Ford Foundation seeks to increase the diversity of the nation's college and university faculties by increasing their ethnic and racial diversity, maximize the educational benefits of diversity, and increase the number of professors who can and will use diversity as a resource for enriching the education of all students.

SASP and Division 16 support students from under-represented cultural backgrounds as they endeavor to become a part of the inspiring profession of School Psychology. SASP and Division 16 are aware of the financial pressures that graduate students experience and thus, through generous support from Division 16, the Diversity Scholarship Program was created to provide monetary support to aid students from diverse cultural backgrounds entering the field. SASP offers the following three awards each year for student support: two incoming student awards in the amount of $500 and an advanced student award in the amount of $1,000.

As part of broader university-wide diversity and inclusion efforts, the Office of the President and the Office for the Advancement of Research and Scholarship (OARS) have issued a special call for proposals to conduct research, scholarship, or creative activities in the areas of social justice, human rights, diversity, and inclusion. Proposals may be submitted in any of these areas, but must address a scholarly question that will lead to testable objectives or measurable outcomes.

The NIH Research Education Program (R25) supports research education activities in the mission areas of the NIH.  The goal of this NIGMS R25 program is to support educational activities that enhance the diversity of the biomedical, behavioral and clinical research workforce.  To this end, this funding opportunity announcement encourages the development of creative educational activities with a primary focus on Research Experiences and Courses for Skills Development.  Applications are encouraged from research-intensive institutions that propose to develop recent baccalaureate science graduates from diverse backgrounds underrepresented in biomedical and behavioral sciences so that they have the necessary knowledge and skills to pursue PhD or MD-PhD degrees in these fields.  The program provides support for well-designed courses for skills development and extensive research experiences aimed at preparing individuals from diverse backgrounds to complete doctoral degrees.

The Society for Personality and Social Psychology has established a fund devoted to increasing diversity within personality and social psychology. As part of this initiative, eligible undergraduate students are invited to apply for an award that will cover the expense of registering for the SPSP annual conference. The SPSP Diversity and Climate Committee will also host a reception for award recipients during the conference (time and location to be announced). Undergraduate award winners are encouraged to attend this reception. ELIGIBILITY REQUIREMENTS Be currently enrolled in a bachelor's degree program majoring in psychology or be a graduate of such a program and currently working in areas related to psychology. Preference will be given to currently enrolled undergraduates.  Not have received this award in the past.  Be a member of an underrepresented group in social/personality psychology (these groups include, but are not necessarily limited to, ethnic and racial minorities; first-generation college students; lesbian, gay and bisexual students; transgendered students; and students with a physical disability).

The Council on Undergraduate Research (CUR) is pleased to offer a limited number of conference grants. These grants will be used to subsidize the cost of attendance for individuals to attend either CUR Dialogues 2015: Climbing the Ladder to Funding Success: Diverse Sources, Diverse Pathways or Undergraduate Research Programs: Building, Enhancing, Sustaining. Nominees are asked to provide contact and demographic information, a statement of expenses, a statement describing financial need, and a statement on expected outcomes from attending the conference. Historically under-represented groups and first-time attendees will be given priority. The review committee will work to ensure awardees represent a diverse subset of the applicants, specifically across discipline/CUR Division and geographic location. Awardees will receive the conference grant as a rebate after their confirmed participation in the conference, and the submission of reimbursement paperwork.

The purpose of this Funding Opportunity Announcement (FOA) is to enhance the diversity of the mental health research workforce by providing dissertation awards in all research areas within the strategic priorities of the NIMH to individuals from diverse backgrounds underrepresented in biomedical, behavioral, clinical and social sciences research. This two-year award supports the completion of the doctoral research project.

The purpose of the Institutional Research and Academic Career Development Award (IRACDA) Program is to develop a diverse group of highly trained biomedical and behavioral scientists to address the Nation's biomedical workforce needs. The strategy is to promote effective partnerships between research-intensive institutions (RII) and institutions that have a historical mission or a demonstrated commitment to educating students from diverse backgrounds underrepresented in the biomedical and behavioral research enterprise of the nation. The IRACDA program provides support for a traditional mentored postdoctoral research experience at an RII combined with an opportunity for these fellows to develop critical academic skills, including teaching, through workshops and through mentored teaching assignments at a partner institution. The primary goals of the IRACDA program are to (1) develop a group of highly trained biomedical and behavioral scientists who have the necessary knowledge and skills to pursue independent research and teaching careers in academia; and (2) strengthen and modernize science educational offerings at partner institutions, and promote links between RII and the partner institution(s). 

This Funding Opportunity Announcement (FOA) aims to stimulate the broader research community to utilize a resource funded through the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act of 2009 (Recovery Act) to generate and evaluate hypotheses about the complex interrelationships and multi-directional influences among genetics, brain maturation, neurocognitive function, and psychiatric symptoms during development. This FOA is a strategic effort to disseminate this data resource, stimulate the broader research community to use the resource, and accelerate research on neurodevelopment and trajectories of risk for mental illness. Secondary goals of this initiative are to foster collaborations among researchers from diverse fields of expertise, enhance diversity of research questions and analytic approaches, advance methods for integration across data modalities and levels of analyses (i.e., imaging, genomics, behavior), and encourage inclusion of early stage investigators among these collaborations.

As defined in the DD Act of 2000, the term "developmental disabilities" means a severe, chronic disability of an individual that is attributable to a mental or physical impairment or combination of mental and physical impairments that are manifested before the individual attains age 22 and are likely to continue indefinitely. Developmental disabilities result in substantial limitations in three or more of the following functional areas: self-care, receptive and expressive language, learning, mobility, self-direction, capacity for independent living and economic self-sufficiency. The DD Act of 2000 identifies a number of significant findings, including: Disability is a natural part of the human experience that does not diminish the right of individuals with developmental disabilities to enjoy the opportunity for independence, productivity, integration and inclusion into the community. Individuals whose disabilities occur during their developmental period frequently have severe disabilities that are likely to continue indefinitely. Individuals with developmental disabilities often require lifelong specialized services and assistance, provided in a coordinated and culturally competent manner by many agencies, professionals, advocates, community representatives and others to eliminate barriers and to meet the needs of such individuals and their families. The DD Act of 2000 also promotes the best practices and policies presented below: Individuals with developmental disabilities, including those with the most severe developmental disabilities, are capable of achieving independence, productivity, integration and inclusion into the community, and often require the provision of services, supports and other assistance to achieve such. The National Institute on Minority Health and Health Disparities (NIMHD) invites applications for the Minority Health and Health Disparities Research Training (MHRT) awards. The Program supports research training activities in minority health and health disparities research for individuals from diverse backgrounds, including groups underrepresented in biomedical, behavioral, clinical and social sciences research, at domestic institutions and/or at specified foreign low and middle income (LMIC) locations. This program is intended to promote both domestic and international training opportunities in a diverse and inclusive environment for eligible undergraduate, post-baccalaureate and graduate students, as well as for eligible residents, fellows and postdoctoral students.

The IMEE program supports fundamental, multidisciplinary research on the impact of hazards and disasters upon civil infrastructure and society. The program is focused upon research on the mitigation of, preparedness for, response to, and recovery from multi-hazard disasters. Community and societal resilience and sustainability are important topics within the research portfolio of IMEE. The program is deeply multidisciplinary, integrating multiple perspectives, methods and results from diverse areas in engineering, social and natural sciences, and computing. Among these are civil, mechanical, transportation and system engineering; sociology, cognitive science and psychology, economics, geography, political science and urban planning; geology, biology and meteorology; and applied computing. Methodological innovations that span multiple, diverse disciplines are strongly encouraged.

The NIH Director's New Innovator Award Program supports early stage investigators of exceptional creativity who propose highly innovative research projects with the potential to produce a major impact on broad, important areas relevant to the mission of NIH. For the program to support the best possible researchers and research, applications are sought which reflect the full diversity of the research workforce. Individuals from diverse backgrounds and from the full spectrum of eligible institutions in all geographic locations are strongly encouraged to apply to this Funding Opportunity Announcement. As an initiative of the Office of Diversity and Inclusion, the Aspiring Physicians & Research Scientists Conference is a two-and-a-half day enhancement program that focuses on science innovation and world-class care. Cleveland Clinic physician and research scientist-led presentations and mentoring/coaching sessions provide students a unique opportunity to interface with our world renowned staff. An abstract poster competition provides students the opportunity to showcase their research. Our target audience includes underrepresented minority science, math and pre-med college students. It is designed to increase representation of American Indian, Black/African American, Hispanic/Latino, and Native Hawaiian/Pacific Islander physicians, research scientists, physician investigators and physician leaders. Applicants, who must be at least 18 years of age and currently enrolled in college majoring in math, science, or pre-med will be notified of acceptance via email by April 19, 2013. Research students interested in participating in the poster research scholarship competition must submit an abstract of their work by April 12, 2013. Applicants accepted to present their posters will be notified by email by April 19, 2013.

The purpose of this FOA is to support Administrative Supplements to active NIMH grants to foster research across the NIMH Strategic Objectives that target the reduction and elimination of mental health disparities by race and ethnicity, geography, and socioeconomic status in the United States.
