DML Competition 6: Playlists for Learning funds the development of connected learning playlists for learners ages 13 and up. Successful applicants will create innovative and transformative learning playlists composed of existing or newly created learning resources and experiences that bring proven connected learning activities and events to scale.

The Knight Foundation is accepting applications for the Knight Community Information Challenge, an initiative to help community and place-based foundations have an impact on issues they care about by funding news and information projects. The initiative also aims to encourage local foundations to step in and take a leadership role in ensuring that residents are informed about and engaged in issues important to them.
The Robert L. Platzman Memorial Fellowships, established by bequest of George W. Platzman (1920-2008), Professor Emeritus in Geophysical Sciences at the University, are named in memory of George's brother Robert Platzman (1918-1973), who was Professor of Chemistry and Physics and worked at the Metallurgical Laboratory at the University of Chicago in the 1940s.
The program provides up to $3,000 for visiting researchers working on projects that require on-site consultation of University of Chicago Library collections, primarily archives, manuscripts or printed materials in the Special Collections Research Center. The funds can be used for travel, living and research expenses. Support for beginning scholars is a priority of the program, as are projects that cannot be conducted without onsite access to the original materials and where University of Chicago collections are central to the research. Special consideration will be given to applications in the fields of late 19th or early 20th-century physics or physical chemistry, or 19th-century classical opera.
The Public Affairs Section of the North India Office at the U.S. Embassy New Delhi seeks proposals for a project entitled "Beyond Borders: A Workshop on Filmmaking Across the Punjab Region." The grantee will bring together a total of thirty participants, fifteen each from India and Pakistan from the greater Punjab region on both sides of the border, to work together on conceptualizing, writing, and producing short films. The thirty participants will travel together to the United States for a three-week filmmaking workshop, led by the grantee. The participants will be between the ages 22-30 with an interest in filmmaking and storytelling, but no formal prior training is required. The participants will work in pairs or small groups, ideally including participants from both India and Pakistan, to produce short three-five minute narrative (fiction) films over the course of the seminar.
The Summer Stipends Program at the National Endowment for the Humanities (NEH) provides $6,000 for individuals to spend two consecutive months of full-time advanced research and writing that is of value to scholars and general audiences in the humanities. Miami University is eligible to nominate two full-time faculty for the program. The Associate Provost and Dean of the Graduate School is the nominating official for Miami University. The two Miami nominees will be selected by the Associate Provost with input from an ad-hoc committee of humanities scholars who will review all internal submissions. The foundation will award scholarships of up to $5,000 to journalists from the United States and Canada to take religion courses at any accredited college, university, or seminary. The program is open to all full-time journalists working in general-circulation news media, including reporters, editors, designers, copy editors, editorial writers, news directors, researchers, and producers. Journalists can choose any religion, spirituality, or ethics course.
Scholarships can cover expenses related to tuition, registration, parking, and books. Online and travel classes also are eligible as long as travel costs are part of the curriculum.
Scholarships must be used within three months of the award date.
The Residency Partnership Program supports ensembles and presenters in building audiences for classical/contemporary, jazz, and world chamber music through residency projects. Funding is specifically aimed at activities that take place in community settings and that are not part of a regular concert series. These activities may include, but are not limited to, clinics, interactive classroom programs, and lecture/demonstrations in libraries, hospitals, senior centers, or similar venues. Projects must take place in the U.S. or its territories.
The length of the residencies ranges from a minimum of three days to one year. Grants support up to 75 percent of expenses directly connected to the project. The balance must be drawn from other sources, such as cash from other grants, earned income, or an allocation from the organization's general operating funds.

Partnerships for Innovation: Building Innovation Capacity (PFI:BIC) supports academe-industry partnerships, which are led by an interdisciplinary academic research team collaborating with at least one industry partner in order to carry out research to advance, adapt, and integrate technology(ies) into a specified, human-centered smart service system. The selected service system should function as a technology test bed.
Partnership projects are unrestricted as to domain knowledge and application areas and should be in the translational, pre-commercialization space, building on fundamental research discoveries with the objective of creating or transforming a "smart(er)" service system that has the potential for significant social and economic impact.
We are seeking an organization that has experience in working in local languages and working with vernacular journalists, and especially organizations or institutions with linkages to India and specifically South India. The grantee would need to work with local partners in each of the three states in our district to develop online materials and coursework for vernacular journalists.
