The Miami Initiative for Advancing, Mentoring and Investing in Women (M.I.A.M.I. WOMEN) awarded nearly $104,000 in Giving Circle grants to students and faculty during the annual Leadership Symposium on April 12, 2018. Finalists pitched their projects the previous evening at the inaugural Hawk Tank event. This grant fund is open again for the 2018-2019 cycle.

VentureWell Faculty Grants provide up to $30,000 to help fund and support faculty with innovative ideas to create new or transform existing courses and programs to help students develop novel, STEM-based inventions and gain the necessary entrepreneurial skills needed to bring these ideas to market. We will be seeking proposals for areas that will support the emerging generation of inventors and innovators and the i&e ecosystems critical to their success. Successful grant proposals include: - A focus on technology entrepreneurship - Experiential learning by doing, and creative approaches to solving real world problems, - The formation of student teams focused on technology inventions with positive social and/or environmental impact - A supportive entrepreneurial ecosystem for student teams to pursue commercialization - A plan for continuation of the course or program after VentureWell funding

The Public Affairs Section of the U.S. Embassy South Africa of the U.S. Department of State announces an open competition for organizations to submit applications to carry out a training program in collaboration with the U.S. Department of State and The University of Arizona. Funding will be made available from the U.S. Embassy in Pretoria. The Academy for Women Entrepreneurs (AWE) is an educational opportunity for potential women entrepreneurs that uses a facilitated Massive Open Online Course (MOOC) called DreamBuilder as the core training curriculum. AWE participants will engage in facilitated lessons on business management and network with like-minded entrepreneurs and mentors from their regions and the United States. Led by an in-person course facilitator, participants will learn how to create business plans, hire staff, and research the market for their product or service. Participants will gather in person to view each DreamBuilder session (ten in total) and/or to discuss the topic after each participant views the session online. Facilitators selected in collaboration with the U.S. Embassy or Consulate will lead the in-person discussions and serve as mentors for the participants. The implementing partner will also be expected to organize a pre-launch training program for facilitators throughout South Africa, to occur in Johannesburg. The Public Affairs Section of the U.S. Embassy in Pretoria seeks an implementing partner to establish and manage the training program and to design a follow-on engagement strategy for participants. The primary objective of the RCDG program is to improve the economic condition of rural areas by assisting individuals or entities in the startup, expansion or operational improvement of rural cooperatives and other business entities. Grants are awarded competitively on an annual basis to Rural Cooperative Development Centers who in turn provide technical assistance to individuals and entities.

The purpose of the Request for Service ("RFS") is to solicit responses for consulting services to evaluate internal controls and procedures for the Treasurer's Office. These services include an evaluation of the controls and operating procedures within the Treasurer's Office, the creation of written documents with recommendations to assist the Treasurer's Office in the optimization of its internal controls and procedures, and a formal project plan and schedule for ongoing control assessments.

NIO-PAS seeks proposals for a project entitled "Supporting Her Empowerment via Digital Tools." Based on funding availability, this project will build capacity of women artisans by harnessing their entrepreneurial and innovative spirits and empowering them with digital tools to grow further. Under this program, the grantee will organize and implement three 2-day workshops on "Digital Strategies for Business" in Lucknow, Uttar Pradesh; Jaipur, Rajasthan; and Ludhiana, Punjab for a minimum of ten and a maximum of 15 CSO/NGO representatives in each program city. The workshops should include hands-on training that will teach participants in each city how to use commercially-available technology to sell art and/or related products online. The workshops should also include a "train-the-trainer" teaching methodology to allow participants to share their new skills with women artisans from far-flung and rural areas, and within their communities. Each participant must produce an initial idea to execute by the end of the workshops.

This notice requests applications for special projects and programs aligned with the Minority Business Development Agency's (MBDA) strategic plans and mission goals for businesses within the American Indian, Alaska Native, and Native Hawaiian communities. This notice also provides the public with information and guidelines on how MBDA will select proposals and administer discretionary Federal assistance under this Broad Agency Announcement (BAA).

The Robert Wood Johnson Foundation, the nation's largest philanthropy dedicated solely to health, has issued a call for proposals for research on the ways that for-profit anchors advance health and well-being in the communities where they are located. Funded studies are expected to include rigorous empirical research that can inform the business case for why and how more companies serve as anchor institutions in their immediate surrounding geographies. Studies should also inform future RWJF strategies to motivate companies to act in a way that promotes health and well-being. Potential research questions might include: What factors facilitate or hinder anchor businesses from addressing health equity or social determinants of health? What are the motivations and incentives of anchor businesses across a range of sectors? What kind of equity-promoting narrative and framing resonates with the leaders of corporate anchor institutions? What interventions (led or co-led by corporate anchors) appear to be effective or show promise? What tools and resources would most help leaders of anchor businesses who are committed to community health improvement?

This report will take an in-depth look at the AbilityOne program and NCD's concerns pertaining to 14(c) certificates. NCD released a white paper in February 2019 which was a cursory look at the AbilityOne program (https://NCD.gov/publications/2019/cursory-look-abilityone). This report will pick up where the white paper ended and will include an in-depth review of how AbilityOne functions and interacts with its Central Nonprofit Agencies(CNAs) and Nonprofit Agencies (NPAs). NCD expects any proposal submitted in response to the solicitation to include how it will obtain data needed to determine the prevalence of 14(c) certificate holders among AbilityOne providers; how it will set up a partnership with the Department of Labor Office of Disability Employment and Policy (ODEP) to gather and provide concrete data showing the impact of varying scenariosPertaining to persons with disabilities and employers; and what methods will be used to examine each CNA individually. NCD also expects the final report developed by the contractor to examine what has been done to improve transparency since the 898 Advisory Panel Subcommittee to Eliminate Waste Fraud and Abuse called for improved transparency of the AbilityOne Program in July 2018. The contractor will develop recommendations and promising practices for federal agencies, state and local municipalities with the goal of improving employment outcomes for people with disabilities.

The Farm Business Management and Benchmarking (FBMB) Competitive Grants Program provides funds for improving the farm management knowledge and skills of agricultural producers by maintaining and expanding a national, publicly available farm financial management database to support improved farm management.

New Connections: Increasing Diversity of RWJF Programming is celebrating its 10th year of supporting research grants and career development opportunities for a network of more than 830 researchers from diverse, underrepresented and disadvantaged backgrounds. The program aims to expand the diversity of perspectives that inform RWJF programming and introduce new researchers to the Foundation to help address research and evaluation needs. New Connections is a career development program for early career researchers. Through grantmaking, mentorship, career development and networking, New Connections enhances the research capacity of its grantees and network members. The researchers in this program transcend disciplines (health; health care; social sciences; business; urban planning; architecture and engineering); work to build the case for a Culture of Health with strong qualitative and quantitative research skills; and produce and translate timely research results.

The Decision, Risk and Management Sciences program supports scientific research directed at increasing the understanding and effectiveness of decision making by individuals, groups, organizations, and society. Disciplinary and interdisciplinary research, doctoral dissertation research, and workshops are funded in the areas of judgment and decision making; decision analysis and decision aids; risk analysis, perception, and communication; societal and public policy decision making; management science and organizational design. The program also supports small grants that are time-critical (Rapid Response Research - RAPID)and small grants that are high-risk and of a potentially transformative nature (EArly-Concept Grants for Exploratory Research - EAGER).

The Board of Regents is seeking high quality, focused cooperative education and internship program proposals from Ohio institutions of higher education and their partners. This program has been funded  through one-time casino licensing fees; it is expected that the funds will be awarded to build systems to sustain co-ops and internships beyond the direct investment from the State and to ensure these workbased learning opportunities are relevant to the needs of students and businesses. Funds will be awarded to build the capability and capacity of programs to engage more students, more businesses,  and more faculty members in co-op and internship programs. The programs should address the talent needs of JobsOhio key industries.

The purpose of this Program Announcement is to invite proposals from Public and Private Institutions interested in obtaining funding for continuation of the VWISE National Entrepreneurship Training Program designed to train female veterans and transitioning service personnel interested in starting new small businesses, and current spouses or companions of veteran small business owners interested in expanding/diversifying existing firms.
