This funding partnership between the National Science Foundation (NSF) and the National Endowment for the Humanities (NEH) supports projects to develop and advance knowledge concerning dynamic language infrastructure in the context of endangered human languages-languages that are both understudied and at risk of falling out of use. Made urgent by the imminent loss of roughly half of the approximately 7000 currently used languages, this effort aims to exploit advances in information technology to build computational infrastructure for endangered language research. The program supports projects that contribute to data management and archiving, and to the development of the next generation of researchers. Funding can support fieldwork and other activities relevant to the digital recording, documentation and analysis, and archiving of endangered language data, including the preparation of lexicons, grammars, text samples, and databases. Funding will be available in the form of one- to three-year senior research grants, fellowships from six to twelve months, and conference proposals. Note: a conference proposal should generally be submitted at least a year in advance of the scheduled date of the conference. Europeana Research has allocated a budget of EUR 25,000 for events, such as conferences, workshops, series of seminars, summer schools. The aim is to facilate the dialogue between researchers and cultural heritage professionals around the theme: Digital Cultural Heritage for Open Science. The main organising institution must be based in the European Union, but you can also apply as a network.

The National Endowment for the Humanities (NEH) Division of Research Programs is currently accepting applications for its Scholarly Editions and Scholarly Translations program. This program supports the preparation of editions and translations of pre-existing texts that are foundational to humanities learning and research, but are currently inaccessible to the larger scholarly community and general audiences, or available only in inadequate editions or translations. Typically, the texts are significant literary, philosophical, and historical materials, but other types of work, such as musical notation, may also be included.

The campaign will focus on a priority population of low-income, African American adults who use tobacco in Greater Cincinnati's urban core. The ultimate goal is to encourage members of the priority population to reduce tobacco use or quit completely, offering substitutes for tobacco use and celebrating those who reduce or quit tobacco.  The marketing and community relations campaign will need to employ both traditional media tactics (i.e. radio, bus advertising, social media ads) and nontraditional tactics (i.e. public art and built environment installations, events, community relations). Interact for Health is open to two models: A sole organization to cover the entire scope of the campaign. One lead organization, working with partners, to cover the entire scope of the campaign. Applicants should note that the Request for Applications for an external evaluator for the marketing and community relations campaign is happening simultaneously.

Interact for Health seeks applications from an experienced external evaluator to design and implement a multi-year evaluation that will assess the short-term and intermediate impact of the tobacco marketing and community relations campaign. The evaluation will focus on examining the impact of the campaign on changes in social norms, attitudes, knowledge and behavior of the priority population: low-income, African American adults who use tobacco and live in Greater Cincinnati's urban core. The Marguerite Casey Foundation is accepting applications for its 2019 Journalism Fellowships and Scholarships on Poverty program. Through the program, the foundation aims to support journalistic work that helps the public and policy makers understand how families are working for solutions to poverty and equity in communities across the United States. In the richest country in the world, tens of millions of Americans still live in poverty. The foundation believes that no family should live in poverty and works to support change for and by families. The foundation is particularly interested in stories about poverty, families, and solutions (such as policy, community and grassroots) in Alabama, Arizona, Arkansas, California, Florida, Georgia, Illinois, Kentucky, Louisiana, Mississippi, New Mexico, Tennessee, and Texas.

The Harry Ransom Center fellowship program at the University of Texas at Austin was established in 1989 under the directorship of Thomas F. Staley to encourage and facilitate use of the center's collections for scholarly inquiry. The program enables scholars from around the world to visit the center and conduct on-site research in its extensive collections of manuscripts, rare books, photographs, artworks, and other materials documenting America's cultural history and the creative process In 2020-21, the center will award ten dissertation fellowships and up to fifty postdoctoral fellowships for projects that require substantial on-site use of the center's collections. The collections support research in all areas of the humanities, including literature, photography, film, art, the performing arts, music, and cultural history. Through the program, recipients receive $3,500 per month for one to three months. Travel stipends and dissertation fellowships provide stipends of $2,000. International fellows will receive an additional $500 to offset visa and travel costs. 

Through the program, up to eight fellowship grants of $52,000 will be awarded to scholars for research projects focused on any aspect of fabrication. As described by the society, fabrication is bound up with fiction, language, and storytelling -- from spinning a yarn and weaving a tale, to embellishment, to lying and falsehood. Raising the relation between the high and low arts, the artist and the worker, the poet and rhetorician, as well as the gendering of production and reproduction, fabrication lies at heart of the art and humanities.

The Karma for Cara Foundation was established by 21-year-old Cara Becker and her family while Cara was being treated for leukemia. Created in Cara's hospital room, what began as a couple of blood drives grew quickly, and the foundation now supports young citizen leaders nationwide. To that end, the foundation is inviting applications for its micro-grant program. Through the program, grants of up to $1,000 will be awarded to students 18 years of age and under to complete a project that benefits their communities. Grants are intended to serve as a bridge between ideas and action, helping young citizen leaders execute and magnify their initiatives to help repair the world. Examples of fundable projects include transforming a vacant lot into a community garden, rebuilding a school playground, or helping senior citizens ready their home for winter. The foundation requests that applicants applying on behalf of an entire class or student group designate a maximum of three student leaders to be the main points of contact for the project. The MEWT Program is designed to foster collaboration amongst MSIs, MBEs, DOE program offices, industry, state and local government agencies and other federal agencies to increase engagement and capabilities of underserved communities within STEM and energy fields.

Over the last several years, the Theology Program has increasingly sought to advance public understanding of religion and theology by funding university-based projects at research institutions. Through competitively-awarded grants, the program aims to support collaborative, experimental, and field-shaping initiatives that enliven the practice of public scholarship.

The GKV Foundation supports individual development and related community impact through the use of a range of artistic media, including the visual arts, music, and dance. The goal is that with GKV first-year funding enough measurable results will be achieved to attract sustaining funding from other sources. Priority is given to established nonprofits with a big idea that has great potential but that has yet to be funded and therefore is untested. In order to be considered for funding, interested organizations must first submit a Letter of Interest. If the LOI is of interest to the foundation and is selected for further consideration, the organization will be contacted via email and invited to submit a more comprehensive proposal.

This project fulfills the Middle East Partnership Initiative's (MEPI) strategic framework objectives in a) providing economically disadvantaged individuals opportunities to build leadership skills and effectively engage with civil society, the private sector, and/or government actors; and b) increasing workforce employability, and improving access to higher value opportunities through demand-driven professional training and targeted, localized job placement, primarily in the private sector. This project contributes to Bureau Goal 3 in the Department's Joint Regional Strategy for the Middle East and North Africa: Promote Inclusive Economic Growth, Socio-economic Development, Open Markets, and Increased U.S. Exports.

The U.S. Embassy Bucharest/Bureau of Public Affairs of the U.S. Department of State announces an open competition for non-profit Romanian organizations and institutions with experience in adult education, language teaching to adults, civic engagement, and with no political affiliations, to apply for a grant of up to $25,000 to conduct English language teaching programs for young to middle-aged adults (ages 20 - 45) from rural areas of Vaslui, Braila, Ialomita, Gorj and Olt counties, in order to help them acquire new skills and enhance their competitiveness on the labor market.

The SERMEISS Academic Book Prize recognizes outstanding scholarship in Middle Eastern Studies in any academic discipline in the social sciences or humanities from any time period. Submitted books should be peer-reviewed nonfiction, published in English, and exhibit original empirical and theoretical contributions. Books published within the last three years (2016, 2017, 2018) will be considered. Edited volumes, handbooks, and novels are not eligible for the book award. Located on the former country estate of architect Howard Van Doren Shaw in Lake Forest, Illinois, Ragdale, a nonprofit artists community, offers nearly two hundred residencies and fellowships annually to creative professionals of all types. During each residency session, thirteen artists-in-residence enjoy uninterrupted time for work, a supportive environment, dynamic arts exchanges, fifty acres of idyllic prairie, and a family-style dinner each evening.
