Through NEH-Mellon Fellowships for Digital Publication, the National Endowment for the Humanities and The Andrew W. Mellon Foundation jointly support individual scholars pursuing research projects that require digital expression and digital publication. To be eligible for this special opportunity, an applicant's plans for digital publication must be essential to the project's research goals. That is, the project must be conceived as digital because the nature of the research and the topics being addressed demand presentation beyond traditional print publication. Successful projects will likely incorporate visual, audio, and/or other multimedia materials or flexible reading pathways that could not be included in traditionally published books.

The Arts Envoy Program annually enables approximately 200 American artists and cultural experts (known as Arts Envoys) to travel abroad for individual programs or as part of an ensemble or group to engage and consult with key foreign audiences through performances, workshops, meetings, seminars, and appearances in foreign media. By addressing topics identified and developed by U.S. Missions (generally U.S. Embassies and Consulates) worldwide in cooperation with ECA, the program promotes an understanding of U.S. policies and institutions, and the political, economic, social, and cultural context from which they arise. Arts Envoy individuals and groups are programmed in one or more countries with a variety of audiences from a wide range of disciplines in the cultural arena, including in the performing and visual arts, and in arts management, as well as with museum professionals and other cultural experts. The Native Arts and Cultures Foundation has issued a call for applications to established American Indian and Alaska Native artists to mentor an emerging American Indian and Alaska Native artist apprentice through its for its NACF Mentor Artist Fellowship program. Through the program, mentors will develop lesson plans intended to increase their apprentice's skill level, and provide an experience of intergenerational exchange of cultural knowledge within the apprentice's traditional arts or contemporary visual arts practice. To assist in developing lesson plans, awarded mentors and their apprentices are required to attend a training session before the mentorship begins. The training date will be announced upon notification of the awards. The fellowship provides a monetary award of $30,000 total - $20,000 for the mentor, $5,000 for the joint art project, and $5,000 for the apprentice's expenses.

The GKV Foundation supports individual development and related community impact through the use of a range of artistic media, including the visual arts, music, and dance. The goal is that with GKV first-year funding enough measurable results will be achieved to attract sustaining funding from other sources. Priority is given to established nonprofits with a big idea that has great potential but that has yet to be funded and therefore is untested. In order to be considered for funding, interested organizations must first submit a Letter of Interest. If the LOI is of interest to the foundation and is selected for further consideration, the organization will be contacted via email and invited to submit a more comprehensive proposal.

The Programme's objectives are achieved principally by awarding grants to applicants to locate relevant endangered archival collections, where possible to arrange their transfer to a suitable local archival home, and to deposit copies with local institutions and the British Library. Pilot projects are particularly welcomed, to investigate the survival of archival collections on a particular subject, in a discrete region, or in a specific format, and the feasibility of their recovery. To be considered for funding under the Programme, the archival material should relate to a 'pre-modern' period of a society's history. There is no prescriptive definition of this, but it may typically mean, for instance, any period before industrialisation. The relevant time period will therefore vary according to the society. For the purposes of the Programme, the term 'archival material' is interpreted widely to include rare printed books, newspapers and periodicals, audio and audio-visual materials, photographs and manuscripts.

The British Council is organizing a 11-days training programme on Human Rights Film Making, partnership with Cinema Human Rights and Advocacy (CHRA), scheduled for November 12 to 22 in Myitkyina. The programme offers a combination of lectures, screenings, working groups, group tutoring sessions and technical exercises (shooting on DSLR cameras and editing on Adobe Premiere Pro CC) focussing on the production of a short advocacy film on human rights and/or environmental issues.

Founded in 1956, the Chicago-based Graham Foundation for Advanced Studies in the Fine Arts provides project-based grants to individuals and organizations and produces public programs to foster the development and exchange of diverse and challenging ideas about architecture and its role in the arts, culture, and society. Projects may be drawn from the various fields of inquiry supported by the foundation, including architectural history, theory, and criticism; design; engineering; landscape architecture; urban planning; urban studies; the visual arts; and other related fields. The foundation offers Carter Manny awards in two categories, including a research award for a student at the research stage of the doctoral dissertation and a writing award for a student at the writing stage of the doctoral dissertation. The research award is acknowledged with up to $15,000 and the writing award is acknowledged with up to $20,000. Ph.D. students who are presently candidates for a doctoral degree are eligible to apply. Students must be nominated by their department to apply for the Carter Manny Award. The award is open to students officially enrolled in schools in the U.S. and Canada, regardless of citizenship. The foundation will begin accepting applications on September 15, 2017. Applications must be received no later than November 15, 2017.

Founded in 1979 in honor of LIFE Magazine photographer W. Eugene Smith, the W. Eugene Smith Memorial Fund seeks to honor and support documentary photographers who embrace the ideology of the fund's namesake and whose work eschews conventional, mass media-driven work in order to spur dialogue and reveal the multifaceted nature and tenacity of the human spirit.  To that end, the fund is accepting applications for the W. Eugene Smith Grant in Humanistic Photography, the W. Eugene Smith Grant for Student Photographers, and the Howard Chapnick Grant. W. Eugene Smith Grant -  Grants of up to $35,000 will be awarded to photographers whose proposed project uses compelling photojournalism to express an issue of concern reflective of the human condition. The W. Eugene Smith Grant for Student Photographers has similar parameters but is designated for current students. A grant of up to $4,000 will be awarded through the program. Howard Chapnick Grant - A grant of up to $5,000 will be awarded to an individual who is not a photographer but instead works in a related field that reinforces the impact of photojournalism (e.g., research, education, photo editing). The program supports costs related to the artistic and professional development of the recipient.

The colony currently is accepting applications from emerging and established artists for its fall fellowship program in the following disciplines: architecture, film/video arts, interdisciplinary arts, literature, music composition, theater, and visual arts. The fellowship includes exclusive use of a private studio, accommodations, and three prepared meals a day for a period of two weeks to two months.

The College Art Association is accepting applications to its Millard Meiss Publication Fund. The program supports book-length scholarly manuscripts in the history of art, visual studies, and related subjects that have been accepted by a publisher on their merits but cannot be published in the most desirable form without a subsidy. Commercial, university, and museum publishers of all nations are encouraged to apply. Applicant authors and presses must be institutional CAA member, however.

The Radcliffe Institute for Advanced Study at Harvard University is accepting applications for its 2019-2020 Fellowship Program Through the program, stipends of up to $77,500 for one year with additional funds for project expenses will be awarded to individuals working in the creative arts, humanities, social sciences, natural sciences, and mathematics to pursue projects within their fields. In addition, some support for relocation expenses is provided where relevant. In addition to the stipend, fellows receive office or studio space and access to libraries and other resources of Harvard University during the fellowship year, which runs from early September 2019 through May 31, 2020. Visual, film, and video artists may apply for either one or two semesters. In the event that they come for one semester, the stipend is $38,750. Radcliffe Fellows are expected to devote themselves full time to the work outlined in their proposal. Since this is a residential fellowship, fellows are expected to reside in the Boston area during the fellowship period and to have their primary office at the institute to participate fully in the life of the community. The deadline for individual applications in the creative arts, humanities, and social sciences is September 13, 2018. For applications in the natural sciences and mathematics, the deadline is October 4, 2018.

Fellows are chosen from the disciplines of architecture, design, historic preservation and conservation, landscape architecture, literature, musical composition, visual arts, ancient studies, medieval studies, Renaissance and Early Modern studies, and Modern Italian studies.

The foundation created its Grants Program nearly thirty years ago to support still photographers. It recognizes that the profession more and more calls for a diverse range of story forms. Therefore, while submissions must include a set of still photographs, they should also include other story forms (e.g., audio, video, VR, or any other visual format).

The Archaeological and Ethnographic Field Research program makes awards to institutions and organizations conducting empirical field research to answer significant questions in the humanities. Archaeology and ethnography are important methodologies utilized by many disciplines across the humanities and social sciences that provide observational and experiential data on human history and culture. Archaeological methods may include field survey and field-based remote sensing, documentation or visualization, and/or excavations in support of answering research questions in all aspects of the human past, including but not limited to ancient studies, anthropology, art history, classical studies, regional studies, epigraphy, and other related disciplines. Ethnographic methods may include participant observation, surveys and interviews, and documentation or recording in pursuit of research questions in anthropology, ethnolinguistics, oral history, ethnomusicology, performance studies, folklore studies, and related disciplines.

The Hodder Fellowship will be given to artists and writers of exceptional promise to pursue independent projects at Princeton University during the academic year. Potential Hodder Fellows are composers, choreographers, performance artists, visual artists, writers or other kinds of artists or humanists who have "much more than ordinary intellectual and literary gifts"; they are selected more "for promise than for performance." Given the strength of the applicant pool, most successful Fellows have published a first book or have similar achievements in their own fields; the Hodder is designed to provide Fellows with the "studious leisure" to undertake significant new work.

Projects funded by the OHC must demonstrate a humanities focus - drawing on topics and themes from the humanities fields, including Archaeology, Comparative Religion, Ethics, History, Languages & Linguistics, Literature, Jurisprudence, Philosophy, the History, Theory, and Criticism of the Arts, and certain aspects of the Social Sciences which use historical or philosophical approaches - as well as humanities scholar involvement, public benefit, balanced viewpoints, effective program formats and sponsor cost-share.

he $1,000 CORST Essay Prize recognizes the best essay on psychoanalytically informed research in the biobehavioral sciences, social sciences, arts, and humanities. The winning essay will be presented at the APsaA National Meeting and will be reviewed for publication by The Journal of the American Psychoanalytic Association.
