Activating Community Opportunities Using Museums / Libraries as Assets - A National Lea... - 0 views

    National Leadership Grants for Libraries (NLG-Libraries) and National Leadership Grants for Museums (NLG-Museums), under which this special initiative falls, support projects that address challenges faced by the library and museum fields and that have the potential to advance practice in those fields. Successful projects will generate results such as new tools, research findings, models, services, practices, or alliances that can be widely used, adapted, scaled, or replicated to extend the benefits of federal investment. What is this special initiative? Activating Community Opportunities Using Museums/Libraries as Assets is part of a special Community Catalyst initiative under the National Leadership Grant programs. For this special initiative, the Institute of Museum and Library Services (IMLS) is interested in supporting projects that address significant challenges and opportunities facing the library, archive, and museum (LAM) fields and that have the potential to advance theory and practice. This joint Libraries and Museums special call for proposals invites projects that will help LAMs and their communities learn together how to build upon the unique abilities of LAMs to achieve positive change. Successful projects will exemplify how LAMs can provide trusted spaces for ongoing community dialog and exploration of the intersections between individual narratives. In addition, successful projects will demonstrate the viability of using and adapting existing approaches gleaned from the collective impact, social well-being, and community development arenas. A range of approaches are currently being employed in these fields that could be helpful as potential applicants consider their proposed projects.

Tomorrow's Leaders College-to-Work Pipeline Pilot - 0 views

    This project fulfills the Middle East Partnership Initiative's (MEPI) strategic framework objectives in a) providing economically disadvantaged individuals opportunities to build leadership skills and effectively engage with civil society, the private sector, and/or government actors; and b) increasing workforce employability, and improving access to higher value opportunities through demand-driven professional training and targeted, localized job placement, primarily in the private sector. This project contributes to Bureau Goal 3 in the Department's Joint Regional Strategy for the Middle East and North Africa: Promote Inclusive Economic Growth, Socio-economic Development, Open Markets, and Increased U.S. Exports.

    The Office of Citizen Exchanges of the Bureau of Educational and Cultural Affairs (ECA) announces an open competition for a cooperative agreement to support the exchanges and building of lasting ties between high school students from countries with significant Muslim populations and the people of the United States. The agreement will also fund exchanges for American youth that will immerse them in the cultures of several selected countries with significant Muslim populations while living and attending high schools abroad. Public and private non-profit organizations meeting the provisions described in Internal Revenue Code section 26 USC 501(c)(3) and public institutions may submit proposals for the Kennedy-Lugar Youth Exchange and Study Overseas Components to: (1) recruit and select international students from designated countries (referred to herein as "inbound" participants) and American students (referred to herein as "outbound" or "YES Abroad" participants); (2) identify host families and schools and provide programs and support to American participants in approximately thirteen countries overseas; (3) provide orientations to all groups; (4) coordinate travel and logistics; (5) liaise with U.S. embassies and natural families; and (6) provide follow-on alumni programs that promote civil society, leadership, and mutual understanding. Pending the availability of funds, ECA intends to award one cooperative agreement for approximately $17,250,000.

M.I.A.M.I WOMEN Grant Application 2018-2019 - Formstack - 0 views

    The Miami Initiative for Advancing, Mentoring and Investing in Women (M.I.A.M.I. WOMEN) awarded nearly $104,000 in Giving Circle grants to students and faculty during the annual Leadership Symposium on April 12, 2018. Finalists pitched their projects the previous evening at the inaugural Hawk Tank event. This grant fund is open again for the 2018-2019 cycle.

    In 2016, the National Science Foundation (NSF) unveiled a set of "Big Ideas," 10 bold, long-term research and process ideas that identify areas for future investment at the frontiers of science and engineering (seehttps://www.nsf.gov/news/special_reports/big_ideas/index.jsp). The Big Ideas represent unique opportunities to position our Nation at the cutting edge of global science and engineering leadership by bringing together diverse disciplinary perspectives to support convergence research. As such, when responding to this solicitation, even though proposals must be submitted tothe Division of Emerging Frontiers in the Directorate for Biological Sciences (BIO/EF),once received, the proposals will be managed by a cross-disciplinary team of NSF Program Directors. The purpose of the Understanding the Rules of Life: Epigenetics (URoL:Epigenetics) program is to enable innovative research and to promote multidisciplinary education and workforce training in the broad area of epigenetics. The URoL:Epigenetics program is a widecollaborationacross Directorates/Offices within the National Science Foundation with a focus on understanding the relationship between epigenetic mechanisms associated with environmental change, the resultant phenotypes of organisms, and how these mechanisms lead to robustness and adaptability of organisms and populations. Understanding the Rules of Life (URoL): PredictingPhenotypeis one of NSF's 10 Big Ideasand is focused on predicting the set of observable characteristics (phenotype) from the genetic makeup of the individual and the nature of its environment.

    Through this project entitled, Country Health Information Systems and Data Use (CHISU), USAID seeks to award a cooperative agreement to strengthen health information systems in low and middle income countries (LMIC) supported by USAID health programming. The overall goal of CHISU is to strengthen country capacity and leadership to manage and use health information systems to improve evidence-based decisions. The project will focus on enhancing host-country capacity to produce high-quality health information, to optimally manage this information and to institutionalize evidence-based decision making. It will align activities, priorities and systems with host-country strategic health objectives and contribute to a country's own development journey. This project will build upon USAID's Global Health Bureau's (GH) long-history promoting the use of data for decision making and enhancing health information systems in collaboration with host country counterparts.
