Media@McGill offers Postdoctoral Fellowships to promising scholars engaging in media-related research, as defined in Media@McGill's mission statement.
Fellows are provided with a workspace, and are expected to take an active role in the research activities and academic life of Media@McGill (participation in conferences, seminars, etc.). They may also have the possibility of teaching a course within the Department of Art History and Communication Studies at McGill.
Eligibility: The Media@McGill Postdoctoral Fellowship is open to both national and international scholars who completed their doctoral degrees in a university other than McGill no earlier than June 1, 2010. Candidates must have received their PhD by May 1, 2014. Fluency in English is essential; working knowledge of French is an asset.
Value and Duration: The stipend for the Media@McGill Postdoctoral Fellowship is $45,000 CAD for 12 months (this includes a travel research stipend) beginning in the first week of September 2014.
Indiana University's African Studies Program invites applications for a short-term residency to conduct research in IU's Libraries/African Studies Collections. Indiana University's African Studies Collection ranks among the top tier of such collections in the U.S. It comprises more than 150,000 volumes of monographs and over 700 serial subscriptions as well as materials in other formats (e.g. posters, slides, film/video, audio tapes, etc). The focus of the collection is on the humanities and social sciences, supporting a wide range of students and faculty in such departments as history, anthropology, fine arts, theatre & drama, literature, folklore, ethnomusicology, communication and culture, linguistics, religious studies, education, political science, business, economics, journalism, and applied health science.
This residency is intended for faculty members at Historically Black Colleges and Universities, or at other U.S. colleges / universities with limited Africa collections, to conduct research in Indiana University's libraries and special collections in support of curriculum development or publications. The successful applicant will receive an award that covers domestic travel, accommodations in Bloomington, and a modest per diem for up to two weeks of research. The award will cover expenses up to a maximum of $2,000 and must be used before August 01, 2014. The recipient is expected to reside in Bloomington during the period of her/his award.

The DAAD/AICGS Research Fellowship Program, funded by a generous grant from the Deutscher Akademischer Austauschdienst (DAAD), is designed to bring scholars and specialists working on Germany, Europe, and/or transatlantic relations to AICGS for research stays of two months each. Fellowships include a monthly stipend of up to $4,725, depending on the seniority of the applicant; transportation to and from Washington; and office space at the Institute.
Please note that the DAAD/AICGS Research Fellowship supports fellows conducting research at AICGS in Washington DC. We are unable to support research in Germany/Europe.
DAAD/AICGS Research Fellows will be expected to produce a short analytical essay that will be published on the AICGS website and distributed via the Institute's targeted analysis newsletter, The AICGS Advisor. For fellows producing research output of exceptional quality and interest, AICGS will provide opportunities for public presentations to the broader Washington policy community.

Robert M. Kingdon, a distinguished historian of early modern Europe, generously donated funds for one to two external Kingdon Fellowships year to scholars outside UW-Madison scholarly research in historical, literary, and philosophical studies of the Judeo-Christian religious tradition and its role in society from antiquity to the present. Projects may focus on any period from antiquity to the present, on any part of the world, and in any field(s) in the humanities; can range widely or focus on a particular issue; and can explore various forms of Jewish and/or Christian traditions; the interaction of one or both of these religious traditions with other religious traditions; and/or the relationship of one or both of these religious traditions to other aspects of society such as power, politics, culture, experience, and creativity.
ARIT / National Endowment for the Humanities Advanced Fellowships for Research in Turkey, 2014-2015. ARIT/NEH Advanced Fellowships cover all fields of the humanities, including prehistory, history, art, archaeology, literature, and linguistics as well as interdisciplinary aspects of cultural history for applicants who have completed their academic training. The fellowships may be held for terms ranging from four months to a full year. Stipends range from $16,800 to 50,400.
ARIT Fellowships for Research in Turkey, 2014-2015. ARIT Fellowships are offered for research in ancient, medieval, or modern times, in any field of the humanities and social sciences. Post-doctoral and advanced doctoral fellowships may be held for various terms, for terms from one to three months up to one academic year. Stipends range from $4,000 to $16,000.
Applications for ARIT fellowships must be submitted to ARIT before November 1, 2013. The fellowship committee will notify applicants by late January, 2014.

The Botstiber Institute for Austrian-American Studies (BIAAS) seeks grant proposals for projects aimed at promoting an understanding of the historic relationship between the United States and Austria in the fields of history, politics, economics, law and cultural studies. Grants may include support for related lectures, seminars, workshops, conferences, and documentaries. Grants for salary replacement will not be considered.
Grants will not exceed $25,000 unless a compelling case is made for a larger grant.

The Battelle Memorial Institute-Ohio State partnership fosters programs that examine the complex relationship between science and technology and broader social and cultural issues. Strong emphasis is placed on educational and public service projects rather than pure research. Interdisciplinary collaborations within the university and collaborations with other institutions are especially encouraged. Projects that address engineering-related topics or feature collaborations between engineering and the social sciences or arts/humanities are particularly welcomed.
UTSAM invites applications for up to nine-month Doctoral Residency Fellowship starting in a mutually decided time after securing the founding. We are interested in proposals that involve comparative perspectives and methods of understanding security (conceptual and practical), Islamphobia and rising far right in general, and terrorism in particular. UTSAM is an interdisciplinary forum for innovative research on socio-economic, political, and cultural explanations and analysis of security in global perspective, with a focus on the Middle East and Europe. The main goal of the UTSAM is to encourage research on security in a comparative perspective.
The Preservation Technology and Training (PTT) Grants program provides funding for innovative research that develops new technologies or adapts existing technologies to preserve cultural resources. NCPTT does not fund "Bricks and Mortar" grants.
The Jazz & Heritage Fellowships are intended for people who have demonstrated a remarkable capacity to document the art and culture of Louisiana, and to present their findings in public events, publications, exhibitions and the like.
Each year, the Friends of the Princeton University Library offer short-term Library Research Grants to promote scholarly use of the research collections. The Program in Hellenic Studies with the support of the Stanley J. Seeger Fund also supports a limited number of library fellowships in Hellenic studies, and the Cotsen Children's Library supports research in its collection on aspects of children's books. The Maxwell Fund supports research on materials dealing with Portuguese-speaking cultures. In addition, awards will be made from the Sid Lapidus '59 Research Fund for Studies of the Age of Revolution and the Enlightenment in the Atlantic World. This award covers work using materials pertinent to this topic donated by Mr. Lapidus as well as other also relevant materials in the collections.
These Library Research Grants, which have a value of up to $3,500 each, are meant to help defray expenses incurred in traveling to and residing in Princeton during the tenure of the grant. The length of the grant will depend on the applicant's research proposal, but is ordinarily up to one month. Library Research Grants awarded in this academic year are tenable from May 2014 to April 2015, and the deadline for applications is January 15, 2014 .
The Furthermore program is concerned with nonfiction book publishing about the city; natural and historic resources; art, architecture, and design; cultural history; and civil liberties and other public issues of the day. Our grants apply to writing, research, editing, design, indexing, photography, illustration, and printing and binding.
These grants support faculty development programs in the humanities for school teachers and for college and university teachers. NEH Summer Seminars and Institutes may be as short as two weeks or as long as five weeks. NEH Summer Seminars and Institutes ¿ extend and deepen knowledge and understanding of the humanities by focusing on significant topics and texts; ¿ contribute to the intellectual vitality and professional development of participants; ¿ build communities of inquiry and provide models of civility and excellent scholarship and teaching; and ¿ link teaching and research in the humanities. An NEH Summer Seminar or Institute may be hosted by a college, university, learned society, center for advanced study, library or other repository, cultural or professional organization, or school or school system. The host site must be suitable for the project, providing facilities for scholarship and collegial interaction. These programs are designed for a national audience of teachers. Program formats ¿ Seminar for school teachers¿sixteen participants (NEH Summer Scholars): A seminar enables sixteen participants (of whom two may be full-time graduate students who intend to pursue a K-12 teaching career) to examine an important text, study works of well-known authors, or review scholarship on a significant historical period or event. The principal goals are to deepen teachers¿ understanding of the subject at hand through reading, discussion, reflection, and writing, and to sustain their intellectual commitment to teaching.
The Center for the Study of Humanities, Culture, and Society at the University of Massachusetts Boston invites applications for a 3-4 week short-term visiting fellowship for Spring 2015. The CHCS Flaherty Visiting Fellow will pursue a research project pertaining in some way to the study of public education. The Center is particularly interested in the work of scholars exploring the evolving meaning of "public"--whether in the arena of "real" life or on the representational level (or both). Preference will be given to projects that will have special resonance for the University of Massachusetts Boston community on the occasion of the 50th anniversary of the institution, and which take a truly interdisciplinary approach to the subject matter.
Preservation and Access Research and Development grants support projects that address major challenges in preserving or providing access to humanities collections and resources. These challenges include the need to find better ways to preserve materials of critical importance to the nation¿s cultural heritage¿from fragile artifacts and manuscripts to analog recordings and digital assets subject to technological obsolescence¿and to develop advanced modes of searching, discovering, and using such materials. Applicants should define a specific problem, devise procedures and potential solutions, and explain how they would evaluate their projects and disseminate their findings. Project results must serve the needs of a significant number of humanists.
