The National Endowment for the Arts Literature Fellowships program offers $25,000 grants in prose (fiction and creative nonfiction) and poetry to published creative writers that enable the recipients to set aside time for writing, research, travel, and general career advancement. The National Endowment for the Arts Literature Fellowships program operates on a two-year cycle with fellowships in prose and poetry available in alternating years. These guidelines are for fellowships in poetry.

The College of Philology at the Westfälische Wilhelms-University in Münster is looking for interested and qualified international doctoral candidates in the area of Literary Studies starting October 1st 2015. In the Graduate School, 'Practices of Literature', you will have the opportunity to complete your doctorate degree within three years and to prepare yourself for an academic career in university or non-university professions. In the framework of the GSSP, two scholarships are to be awarded to international PhD-students, who will be financially supported up to three years, in case of emerging countries up to four years.

Projects must engage humanities scholarship to analyze significant themes in disciplines such as history, literature, ethics, and art history. NEH encourages projects that involve members of the public in collaboration with humanities scholars or that invite contributions from the community in the development and delivery of humanities programming. This program supports a variety of forms of audience engagement. Applications should follow the parameters set out below for one of the following three categories: * Community Conversations: This category supports three-month-long to two-year-long series of at least six in-person public programs that are centered on one or more significant humanities resources, such as historic artifacts, artworks, literature, musical compositions, or films. These resources should be chosen to engage a diverse public audience.

The Public Humanities Projects program supports projects that bring the ideas and insights of the humanities to life for general audiences through in-person programming. Projects must engage humanities scholarship to analyze significant themes in disciplines such as history, literature, ethics, and art history. NEH encourages projects that involve members of the public in collaboration with humanities scholars or that invite contributions from the community in the development and delivery of humanities programming. This program supports a variety of forms of audience engagement. Applications should follow the parameters set out below for one of the following three categories: * Humanities Discussions: This category supports three-month-long to two-year-long series of at least fifteen in-person public programs that engage audiences with significant humanities resources, such as historic artifacts, artworks, literature, musical compositions, or films. These resources should be chosen to engage a diverse public audience. The programs must be anchored through perspectives presented by humanities experts as speakers, panelists, or discussion leaders providing context and analysis of program themes. Projects may include, but are not limited to, community forums, panel symposiums, lecture series, reading and discussion programs, analytical discussions on museum collections or theater/musical performances, life-long learning programs, or other methods of face-to-face audience engagement or informal education.

Projects funded by the OHC must demonstrate a humanities focus - drawing on topics and themes from the humanities fields, including Archaeology, Comparative Religion, Ethics, History, Languages & Linguistics, Literature, Jurisprudence, Philosophy, the History, Theory, and Criticism of the Arts, and certain aspects of the Social Sciences which use historical or philosophical approaches - as well as humanities scholar involvement, public benefit, balanced viewpoints, effective program formats and sponsor cost-share.

The Ransom Center will award more than 50 fellowships for projects that require substantial on-site use of its collections during 2017-2018. The fellowships support research in all areas of the humanities, including literature, photography, film, art, the performing arts, music, and cultural history.

As a part of its current initiative, Standing Together: The Humanities and the Experience of War, the National Endowment for the Humanities offers the Dialogues on the Experience of War program. The program supports the study and discussion of important humanities sources about war, in the belief that these sources can help U.S. military veterans and others to think more deeply about the issues raised by war and military service. The humanities sources can be drawn from history, philosophy, literature, and film-and they may and should be supplemented by testimonials from those who have served. The discussions are intended to promote serious exploration of important questions about the nature of duty, heroism, suffering, loyalty, and patriotism.

The Media Projects program supports film, television, and radio projects that engage general audiences with humanities ideas in creative and appealing ways. All projects must be grounded in humanities scholarship in disciplines such as history, art history, film studies, literature, drama, religious studies, philosophy, or anthropology. Projects must also demonstrate an approach that is thoughtful, balanced, and analytical (rather than celebratory). The approach to the subject matter must go beyond the mere presentation of factual information to explore its larger significance and stimulate critical thinking. NEH is a national funding agency, so the projects that we support must demonstrate the potential to attract a broad general audience.

Indiana University's African Studies Program invites applications for a short-term residency to conduct research in IU's Libraries/African Studies Collections. Indiana University's African Studies Collection ranks among the top tier of such collections in the U.S. It comprises more than 150,000 volumes of monographs and over 700 serial subscriptions as well as materials in other formats (e.g. posters, slides, film/video, audio tapes, etc). The focus of the collection is on the humanities and social sciences, supporting a wide range of students and faculty in such departments as history, anthropology, fine arts, theatre & drama, literature, folklore, ethnomusicology, communication and culture, linguistics, religious studies, education, political science, business, economics, journalism, and applied health science. This residency is intended for faculty members at Historically Black Colleges and Universities, or at other U.S. colleges / universities with limited Africa collections, to conduct research in Indiana University's libraries and special collections in support of curriculum development or publications. The successful applicant will receive an award that covers domestic travel, accommodations in Bloomington, and a modest per diem for up to two weeks of research. The award will cover expenses up to a maximum of $2,000 and must be used before August 01, 2014. The recipient is expected to reside in Bloomington during the period of her/his award.

University College Cork invites applications for scholarships in the four-year structured PhD programme in Digital Arts and Humanities (DAH). Successful candidates will be registered with the full-time inter-disciplinary structured PhD programme co-ordinated with an all-Irish university consortium. Candidates will pursue their individual research agendas within the program, based on projects developed from proposals which they provide during the application process. ARIT / National Endowment for the Humanities Advanced Fellowships for Research in Turkey, 2014-2015. ARIT/NEH Advanced Fellowships cover all fields of the humanities, including prehistory, history, art, archaeology, literature, and linguistics as well as interdisciplinary aspects of cultural history for applicants who have completed their academic training. The fellowships may be held for terms ranging from four months to a full year. Stipends range from $16,800 to 50,400. ARIT Fellowships for Research in Turkey, 2014-2015. ARIT Fellowships are offered for research in ancient, medieval, or modern times, in any field of the humanities and social sciences. Post-doctoral and advanced doctoral fellowships may be held for various terms, for terms from one to three months up to one academic year. Stipends range from $4,000 to $16,000. Applications for ARIT fellowships must be submitted to ARIT before November 1, 2013. The fellowship committee will notify applicants by late January, 2014. ARIT LANGUAGE FELLOWSHIP PROGRAMS 2014. ARIT - Princeton Summer Fellowships for Intensive Advanced Turkish Language at Bogazici University, Istanbul, summer 2014. The program supports intensive study of advanced Turkish language at Bogazici University in Istanbul, Turkey, including air fare, tuition, and stipend. The application deadline is February 1.

The Study of the U.S. Branch, Office of Academic Exchange Programs, Bureau of Educational and Cultural Affairs (ECA), invites proposal submissions for the design and implementation of five different Study of the U.S. Institutes for Scholars and Secondary Educators to take place over the course of five to six weeks beginning in June 2014, pending the availability of funds. These Institutes should provide multinational groups of experienced foreign university educators, scholars, teachers, and other professionals with a deeper understanding of U.S. society, culture, values, and institutions. Three of these Institutes will be for groups of 18 foreign university level faculty, focusing on the themes of Contemporary American Literature, Religious Pluralism in the United States, and U.S. Political Thought, and with a total duration of six weeks each. Two additional Institutes will be five-week general survey courses on the United States for a group of 20 foreign secondary educators.

EES offers residential research scholar grants to scholars working on policy relevant projects on the following countries: Albania, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Bulgaria, Croatia, Czech Republic, Estonia, Hungary, Kosovo, Latvia, Lithuania, Macedonia, Montenegro, Poland, Romania, Serbia, Slovakia, and Slovenia. The colony currently is accepting applications from emerging and established artists for its fall fellowship program in the following disciplines: architecture, film/video arts, interdisciplinary arts, literature, music composition, theater, and visual arts. The fellowship includes exclusive use of a private studio, accommodations, and three prepared meals a day for a period of two weeks to two months.

Fellows are chosen from the disciplines of architecture, design, historic preservation and conservation, landscape architecture, literature, musical composition, visual arts, ancient studies, medieval studies, Renaissance and Early Modern studies, and Modern Italian studies.

In support of its mission, the foundation is inviting applications for its U.S. Venetian Research Program. Through the program, travel grants are awarded to individual scholars to support historical research on Venice and the former Venetian empire and/or for the study of contemporary Venetian society and culture. Disciplines of the humanities and social sciences are eligible areas of study, including but not limited to archaeology, architecture, art, bibliography, economics, history, history of science, law, literature, music, political science, religion, and theater.
