The Administration for Children and Families (ACF), Administration for Native Americans (ANA) announces the availability of Fiscal Year (FY) 2018 funds for the Social and Economic Development Strategies (SEDS) program. This program is focused on community-driven projects designed to grow local economies, strengthen Native American families, including the preservation of Native American cultures, and decrease the high rate of current challenges caused by the lack of community-based businesses, and social and economic infrastructure in Native American communities. Native American communities include American Indian tribes (federally-recognized and non-federally recognized), Native Hawaiians, Alaskan Natives, and Native American Pacific Islanders.

The American Film Showcase (AFS) is the State Department's flagship film exchange program and is implemented by the University of Southern California's (USC) School of Cinematic Arts. AFS supports the exchange of U.S. films, filmmakers, and film experts in support of foreign policy priorities. The Public Affairs Section of the U.S. Embassy South Africa announces an open competition for organizations to submit applications to support the 2020 American Film Showcase in South Africa, with a specific focus on the use of documentary film for conveying human rights messages. Concept notes are requested from organizations that have the necessary capacity, experience, and knowledge to support the implementation of the AFS 2020 program in South Africa. Logistical and financial management capabilities, linkages with existing film events and programs, and a focus on innovative approaches will be critical components of a successful proposal. AFS brings award-winning contemporary American documentaries, independent films, and filmmaking know-how to audiences around the world, offering a view of American society and culture as seen by independent filmmakers. Funded by a grant from the State Department's Bureau of Educational and Cultural Affairs (ECA) and produced by the USC School of Cinematic Arts (SCA), the Showcase highlights the value of film in fostering understanding and cooperation, dialogue, and debate. AFS will include a visit from American documentary filmmakers to engage with local audiences, as well as a film collection for use in related activities. The Association for Jewish Studies is pleased to announce the Berman Foundation Dissertation Fellowships in Support of Research in the Social Scientific Study of the Contemporary American Jewish Community. The Berman Fellowships - two awards of $16,000 each for the 2014-15 academic year -aim to support the development and expansion of the field of the social scientific study of Jewish Americans and the contemporary Jewish-American experience; enhance funding opportunities for up-and-coming scholars in the midst of institutional cutbacks in higher education; and encourage graduate students in sociology, social psychology, social anthropology, demography, social work, economics, and political science to expand their research to include the study of North American Jewry. Fellowships will be awarded for one academic year, with the possibility of renewal for a second year. Preference will be given to applicants seeking support for doctoral research, but requests for funding to support the writing phase of the dissertation will also be considered. The Landmarks of American History and Culture program supports a series of one-week workshops for K-12 educators across the nation that enhance and strengthen humanities teaching at the K-12 level. The program defines a landmark as a site of historic importance within the United States and its territories that offers educators a unique and compelling opportunity to deepen and expand their knowledge of the diverse histories, cultures, traditions, languages, and perspectives of the American people. Projects employ a place-based approach, teaching historic sites through critical interpretation in order to explore central themes in American history and government, as well as in literature, art, music, and related humanities subjects. Each workshop must accommodate thirty-six participants (NEH Summer Scholars) and must be offered twice during the summer (for a total of seventy-two participants). The content, presenters, site visits, activities, and readings should be substantially the same in each week. Workshops may be hosted by institutions such as community colleges, universities, four-year colleges, learned societies, libraries or other repositories, centers for advanced study, cultural organizations, professional associations, and schools or school systems. Host institutions provide facilities and arrange for accommodations for participants, who receive a stipend. NEH expects host institutions to furnish facilities conducive to scholarly engagement with topics and sites.

The goal of the FY 2018 Native American Library Services Basic Grants Program is to support existing library operations and maintain core library services. Effective for this FY 2018 Native American Library Services Basic Grants Program, there is no separate Education/Assessment Option. Funding for tribal library staff to: attend library-related continuing education courses or training workshops; attend or give presentations at conferences related to library services; and/or hire a consultant for an onsite professional library assessment should be included in the Library Services Plan and the Budget. No more than $3,000 of the total $10,000 may be allotted for education/assessment activities or travel. For this FY 2018 Native American Library Services Basic Grants Program, Basic Grants are only available for a one year period.

The SAA Foundation Board awards grants that meet the mission and goals of the Foundation and/or the strategic planning priorities of the Society of American Archivists. Applicants must make direct and substantive reference to the way(s) in which an award of funds will advance one or more of the strategic goals of the SAA Foundation and/or the Society of American Archivists. The Office of Citizen Exchanges of the Bureau of Educational and Cultural Affairs (ECA) announces an open competition for a cooperative agreement to support the exchanges and building of lasting ties between high school students from countries with significant Muslim populations and the people of the United States. The agreement will also fund exchanges for American youth that will immerse them in the cultures of several selected countries with significant Muslim populations while living and attending high schools abroad. Public and private non-profit organizations meeting the provisions described in Internal Revenue Code section 26 USC 501(c)(3) and public institutions may submit proposals for the Kennedy-Lugar Youth Exchange and Study Overseas Components to: (1) recruit and select international students from designated countries (referred to herein as "inbound" participants) and American students (referred to herein as "outbound" or "YES Abroad" participants); (2) identify host families and schools and provide programs and support to American participants in approximately thirteen countries overseas; (3) provide orientations to all groups; (4) coordinate travel and logistics; (5) liaise with U.S. embassies and natural families; and (6) provide follow-on alumni programs that promote civil society, leadership, and mutual understanding. Pending the availability of funds, ECA intends to award one cooperative agreement for approximately $17,250,000.

The Palestinian American Research Center (PARC) is pleased to announce our fellowship competitions for 2014-2015. Included in these opportunities are doctoral and post-doctoral research fellowships for American citizen as well as post-doctoral research fellowships in the Humanities for US citizens and those living in the US for the last 3 consecutive years. In addition, PARC has a competition for a travel seminar to Palestine for American faculty members at US institutions.

The Council of American Overseas Research Centers is pleased to announce a new focused regional fellowship program enabling pre- and early post-doctoral scholars to carry out research in the humanities and related social sciences in countries bordering the Mediterranean and served by American overseas research centers. The Botstiber Institute for Austrian-American Studies (BIAAS) is accepting applications for the Botstiber Fellowship in Austrian-American Studies. The fellowship will be awarded to a scholar or professional who seeks funds for a project that promotes an understanding of the historic relationship between Austria and the United States. A grant of up to $30,000 will be considered for support for salary, travel, or other necessary expenses. Grants from the National Trust for Historic Preservation's African American Cultural Heritage Action Fund are designed to advance ongoing preservation activities for historic places such as sites, museums, and landscapes representing African American cultural heritage. The fund supports work in four primary areas: Capital Projects, Organizational Capacity Building, Project Planning, and Programming and Interpretation.
