The purpose of this supplemental funding opportunity aims to promote quality and safe Public Health Laboratory (PHL) practice; improve PHL infrastructure; strengthen the PHL system and develop a well-trained PHL workforce. Activities conducted will use science-based knowledge to identify best practices that will improve PHL effectiveness, capabilities and sustainability. Public Health laboratories will become a much stronger component of the public health and healthcare systems as a result of the activities undertaken.

The American Congress of Obstetricians and Gynecologists is accepting applications for the 2018 Warren H. Pearse Women's Health Policy Research Award. The annual award provides a single grant of $10,000 to support research that explores an aspect of healthcare policy that assists, defines, or restricts the ability of a physician to deliver health care to women in the general population or in a specific area. The FDA Center for Drug Evaluation and Research seeks to support efforts to research, identify key issues, and convene appropriate subject matter experts to help advance regulatory science to promote the increased availability of safe and effective drugs to the public. This effort will inform regulatory science by advancing the scientific discussion of key research topics of interest to both FDA and external stakeholders such as the pharmaceutical industry, healthcare professionals, patients, and academic researchers. FDA seeks support to address research needs identified in the 2018 reauthorization of the Prescription Drug User Fee Act (PDUFA VI) and requirements under the 21st Century Cures Act. The purpose of the Health Workforce Improvement Program (HWIP) is to address critical human resources challenges in Ethiopia's health sector. The program will build on the work carried out under the Strengthening Human Resources for Health (HRH) Cooperative Agreement (AID-663-A-12-00008) that was awarded to Jhpiego in 2012. The Health Workforce Improvement Program will work with the Ministry of Health (MOH) and Ministry of Science and Higher Education (MOSHE) at the national level and their respective structures at the sub-national levels (regional, zonal and woreda levels), Higher Education Institutes (HEIs) levels that provide healthcare education at national and sub-national, and targeted health worker professional associations to improve the quality of Ethiopia's health workforce. The focus areas of this Activity are: 1. Institutional and individual capacity building to improve the quality of pre-service education for priority clinical cadres to improve the competency of clinical health workers, 2. Improve the human resource for health management and regulation capacity of national and sub-national entities. The program will target program managers at MOH, Regional Health Bureau (RHB) and District Health Office; and faculty at HEIs, building their leadership, management and governance capacity for human resource development and management. 3. The CRRP seeks to enhance medical capabilities at the point of greatest need in order to save the most lives in future combat scenarios, which may be complicated by limited resources, austere conditions, and/or mass casualty events. The intent of the FY19 CRRP RDTRA is to support research that will accelerate the movement of promising ideas into clinical applications, including healthcare products, technologies, and/or practice guidelines. Applicants may leverage existing resources in translational research to address high-impact research ideas or unmet needs in delivering lifesaving care to the Warfighter during prolonged and en route care in austere and combat environments. Research of interest may include knowledge products, "knowledge resulting from research with the potential to improve individual or public health,"2 and solutions that can accelerate the introduction of military-relevant health products or technologies into clinical and/or operational use. This notice announces the opportunity to apply for funding under the National Rural Health Information Clearinghouse Program. The purpose of this program is to serve as a national clearinghouse for information on rural health to support access to healthcare and improve population health in rural communities. A successful program will continue to build upon the federally funded resources that currently exist and serve as a primary resource for information, opportunities, and tools related to rural health.

The purpose of this NOFO is to reduce the overall burden of selected parasitic infections in the United States through public health practice and disease control activities. There are two components in the NOFO that address different parasitic infections, they are: Chagas disease and soil-transmitted helminths. This NOFO will continue the work of the Division of Parasitic Diseases and Malaria in CDC's Center for Global Health to strengthen health care providers' understanding, identification, treatment and prevention of parasitic infections in the U.S. One component of this NOFO will focus on using existing data to develop and disseminate strategies, educational tools, materials, and guidelines related to Chagas disease diagnosis and management in the United States to: improve healthcare provider knowledge and practices, increase testing and improve management of persons with or at risk of infection with the parasite that causes Chagas disease, increase awareness, availability and use of best practices, education training tools and materials. The purpose of this Funding Opportunity Announcement (FOA) is to support research projects that examine real-world data (RWD), real-world evidence (RWE), and related issues such as data analytics, the use of digital health tools, and innovative trial designs utilizing healthcare settings.

The objectives of this research are to 1. Define and quantify the health and safety issues facing public transit workers. These include, but are not limited to, behaviors that affect health and safety (sleep, exercise, diet, smoking, seat belt use, alcohol use), chronic diseases (diabetes, cardio-vascular disease, hearing loss), communicable diseases, labor environment, organizational issues (safety climate, organizational programs, policies and procedures, support at work), organization of work (shiftwork, job discretion, job demands), and access to health-promoting activities and healthcare; 2. Using existing information resources, estimate the costs associated with employee health issues; and characterize to the degree possible how these costs are distributed to individuals, transit agencies, and society; 3. Identify and describe scalable and sustainable strategies successfully implemented in transit agencies; and 4. Identify and evaluate potential methods for measuring cost-benefits and cost-effectiveness of these programs to individuals, transit agencies, and society.

For the purpose of this FOA, integrated care/treatment is defined as the organized delivery and/or coordination of medical (including the use of Food and Drug Administration (FDA)-approved drugs [buprenorphine, methadone, extended release injectable naltrexone] for addiction), behavioral, social, peer, and other recovery support services provided to individual patients who have multiple healthcare needs in order to produce better overall health outcomes.

Program Description: In recent years, the National Endowment for the Arts' research agenda has focused on yielding new knowledge about the value and impact of the arts. Through the National Endowment for the Arts Research Labs (NEA Research Labs), we seek to extend this agenda and its impact by cultivating a series of transdisciplinary research partnerships, grounded in the social and behavioral sciences, to produce and report empirical insights about the arts for the benefit of arts and non-arts sectors alike. The AABC Foundation, was established in 1994 by American Association of Birth Centers to advance public knowledge and understanding of issues related to family-centered childbirth. The foundation raises funds to support the advancement of the AABC birth center model as the standard to improve maternity and women's health care. Based on wellness model of pregnancy and birth, the birth center is a homelike facility, operating with a healthcare system. Birth centers are guided by principles of prevention of complication, sensitivity to the needs of the individual family, safety for both mother and baby, appropriate use of medical intervention, and cost effective care. Birth centers provide family-centered care for healthy women before, during, and after normal pregnancy, labor, and birth. To advance its mission, the foundation will award grants of up to $5,000 to support research projects on issues related to the birth center model of care. The program is open to individuals or organizations and nonprofit status or sponsorship is not required. However, applicants must demonstrate capacity and a plan to complete the research in accordance with the project's timeline.

The key element of the national HIV/AIDS program is ART scale up contributing towards strategic goals of treatment cascade. This project will build on the successful creation of a HIV medical information system through the ACCESS project by scaling up implementation of the MIS to treatment sites in all 12 PEPFAR focus oblasts, including capacity building of healthcare workers, improving information management, analysis and use. The project will also develop and implement a laboratory information system module. In addition, the project will work with the treatment sites to implement quality improvement and facility index testing activities in coordination with other PEPFAR and Global Fund supported activities. The major expected project results are 1) functional HIV MIS is operated by a GOU affiliated Operator at treatment sites in the 12 PEPFAR priority regions and Vinnitsa; 2) MIS data used by sites, GoU, PEPFAR , and other stakeholders; 3) laboratory module implemented; 3) quality improvement activities are implemented at all supported treatment sites; 4) high coverage facility index testing is performed at supported sites.
