This AU$3 million challenge calls for innovators, entrepreneurs, designers, NGOs and academics to rethink advances in aquaculture to provide solutions that ensure both sustainable development and environmental sustainability.

Three types of research project are solicited. Projects 1 and 2: Congress has provided funding that will allow HUD to evaluate the efficacy of its resilience expenditures. HUD is soliciting proposals to conduct two distinct, but related, research studies: (1) a cost-effectiveness evaluation that investigates long- and short-term benefits and costs of expenditures designed to reduce risk to people and property from flood hazards and increase resilience to flood impacts, with explicit focus on impacts to vulnerable populations, and (2) an assessment of implementation of flood resilience strategies, with a goal of identifying those implementation practices that have the greatest chance of being successful across a range of communities. Following on each study - the cost-effectiveness analysis and the implementation study - the respective research organization(s) will produce guidance tools for communities carrying out flood resilience strategies. The cost-effectiveness guidance will include practical methods of project assessment that can be deployed by local communities and states with varying levels of capacity for assessing the benefits of resilience expenditures. Implementation guidance will include assessment of common implementation challenges and solutions and best practices for conceiving, planning, funding, and implementing flood resilience strategies, especially how to improve community participation and support of such strategies. For Project 3, HUD is funding co-operative agreements for pre-competitive research in homebuilding technologies that provide the homebuilding industry with new, innovative construction products or practices that lead to more affordable, energy efficient, resilient (in this sense, durable, disaster resistant, adaptable for future requirements, and maintainable), and healthier housing.

This Funding Opportunity Announcement (FOA) is issued to announce the availability of a Cooperative Agreement designed to assist the FDA in developing, implementing, and improving a nationally consistent system of support which facilitates the implementation of state and territorial produce safety regulatory programs that are modernized and aligned with the standards set forth in the FDA's Regulation: "Standards for the Growing, Harvesting, Packing, and Holding of Produce for Human Consumption" (commonly referred to as the Produce Safety Rule). This goal shall be accomplished in partnership with the FDA by identifying, generating, sharing, and leveraging resources and information which aid in the development and implementation of national, state, and territorial produce safety regulatory programs that are nationally uniform and consistent with the Produce Safety Rule, and which improve their effectiveness and enhance their capabilities.

The goal for this project is to develop and deliver a pilot nutrition paraprofessional training project for FDPIR staff working at local program sites. The training tools and resources developed under this grant should support the efforts of FDPIR local staff in conducting nutrition education activities for FDPIR participants who receive USDA foods.

This funding opportunity announcement (FOA) seeks US domestic research projects that address how food insecurity effects HIV comorbidities, coinfections, and complications (CCCs) within the mission of the National Institute of Diabetes and Digestive and Kidney Diseases (NIDDK). The approaches may address the pathways linking food insecurity and the development or exacerbation of CCCs; or they may evaluate the mechanisms whereby interventions that alleviate food insecurity improve CCCs. These mechanisms could be related to nutritional inadequacies or patient health-related behaviors.

This cooperative agreement funding opportunity is a continuation towards the development of the Integrated Food Safety System (IFSS) National Curriculum Standard (NCS) for the various jobs within the human food, animal food, and laboratory regulatory programs (retail food, human manufactured food, animal food, produce, milk, lab, and shellfish) with the ability to expand into other program areas as directed (pharmaceuticals, medical devices, radiological health, imports, bioresearch monitoring, tobacco, leadership and management or other training programs OTED, is or becomes responsible for); continuation of conducting course deliveries, researching and assessing stakeholder training needs; researching the effectiveness of current training models; development of a curriculum tracking database; and the design, development and/or evaluation of new or existing web and classroom courses, materials, and job aids for classroom or field training as directed.

The U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) is soliciting applications from eligible organizations to manage a cooperative agreement to help educate the medical community on how to recognize and treat pesticide-related health conditions. The long-term goal of the project is to achieve improved health for communities at risk for overexposure to pesticides through outreach, technical assistance and training to increase knowledge and awareness of environmental and occupational health risks. This is a national environmental and occupational health effort solicited by doctors, clinicians, and state health departments. With this award, EPA seeks to build on the progress of previous project titled "From the Fields to the Exam Room: Integrating the Recognition, Management and Prevention of Pesticide Poisonings into the Primary Care Setting." The publication "Recognition and Management of Pesticide Poisoning" was an earlier product of the initiative. EPA is seeking applications to (1) provide continuing education, training and technical assistance to relevant audiences; (2) update existing, and/or develop new materials and resource tools; (3) conduct outreach to existing and new audiences to use materials and tools; and (4) develop partnerships and a sustainable network of stakeholders. EPA expects to provide an estimated $500,000 annually, depending on the Agency's budget, for a total of up to $2,500,000 for five years (2017 through 2022).

The SBIR program, as established by law, is intended to meet the following goals: stimulate technological innovation in the private sector; strengthen the role of small business in meeting Federal research or research and development (R/R&D) needs; increase the commercial application of Federally-supported research results; foster and encourage participation by socially and economically disadvantaged small business concerns and women-owned business concerns in the SBIR program; and improve the return on investment from Federally-funded research for economic and social benefits to the Nation.

The Food and Drug Administration announces its intention to accept and consider a single source application for award to the World Health Organization (WHO) for the Building Research Capacity in Global Tobacco Product Regulation Program. The purpose of the Program is to identify, support, develop, conduct, and coordinate research efforts relating to tobacco control laws and rules in foreign countries that will directly inform and support FDA's exercise of its authority to regulate the manufacture, distribution, marketing and sale of tobacco products in the United States. The Program will advance FDA's Center for Tobacco Products' (CTP's) mission by utilizing the World Health Organization's (WHO) Member States' expertise and extensive international contacts in global tobacco control, as well as WHO's own programmatic expertise, to inform and support adequate manufacture, distribution and market regulations of tobacco products for the protection of public health in the United States. The Program will also provide a universal public benefit by creating opportunities for collaboration and research development globally, thereby resulting in better-informed and effective tobacco product regulation around the world, and increased knowledge in the public sphere regarding tobacco use and its harms globally.

The United States Agency for International Development (USAID), Bureau for Food Security (BFS), Office of Strategic Planning and Program Management (SPPM), Monitoring and Evaluation Division (MEL), invites applications for funding from qualified U.S. and non-U.S., non-profit or for-profit non-governmental organizations (NGOs) and international organizations to carry out activities that develop, test or apply innovative methods for monitoring or evaluating Feed the Future/Global Food Security Strategy activities or programs. An APS is issued when USAID intends to support a variety of creative approaches towards developing methodologies to assess and implement development objective activities.
