The project should achieve the following outcomes: (1) Improved capacity of civil society to identify and document accurate, independent, and objective information on the nature and scope of child labor and/or forced labor, and violations of acceptable conditions of work in a sector and/or supply chain; (2) Improved capacity of civil society to raise awareness for the protection of workers from child labor and/or forced labor abuses, and violations of acceptable conditions of work; and (3) Improved capacity of civil society to implement initiatives to address child labor and/or forced labor and violations of acceptable conditions of work, including facilitated access to grievance mechanisms and/or remedy for victims of labor exploitation. The duration of the project will be a maximum of 4 years (48 months) from the effective date of the award.

Applicants must propose a country covered in the DOL's Findings on the Worst Forms of Child Labor in accordance with the Trade and Development Act of 2000 or on the List of Goods Produced by Child Labor or Forced Labor as mandated by Trafficking Victims Protection Reauthorization Act of 2005. Proposals for working in the fisheries sector in the Asia-Pacific region will not be considered. In each country, the project should achieve the following outcomes: * Improved understanding of indicators of forced labor and labor trafficking * Improved monitoring of working conditions by labor stakeholders to identify and address indicators and incidents of forced labor and labor trafficking * Strengthened capacity of the labor inspectorate to address forced labor and labor trafficking. The duration of the project will be a maximum of 4 years (48 months) from the effective date of the award. Applicants may apply separately for cooperative agreements serving one or more of the countries listed above, up to a maximum of three applications, but may not combine proposals for more than one country in a single application. Each application should request no more than $2 million total costs in funding. For this FOA, DOL will make no more than one award per country.

Each cooperative agreement will fund a project in one of the following countries in the Latin America/Caribbean region, where DOL's List of Goods Produced by Child Labor or Forced Labor (TVPRA List) documents child labor and/or forced labor concerns: Colombia, Costa Rica, El Salvador, Guatemala, Honduras, or Nicaragua. Project outcomes include: 1) Adoption of a robust and sustainable social compliance system by private sector stakeholders in coffee supply chains; 2) Strengthened capacity of private sector stakeholders to implement a robust and sustainable social compliance system in coffee supply chains; and 3) New social compliance tools on child labor, forced labor, and acceptable conditions of work piloted in the coffee supply chain. The duration of the project will be a maximum of 4 years (48 months) from the effective date of the award. Applicants may apply for one or two of the cooperative agreements listed above. No more than two applications per applicant will be accepted. If applying for two cooperative agreements, applicants should not combine countries in a single application, but must submit separate applications for each country. Each application should request no more than $2 million total costs in funding.
CHADD (Children and Adults with Attention Deficit Disorder) is now taking applications for its Young Scientist Research Fund Awards, a program to recognize new researchers making contributions to the understanding of ADHD. CHADD will support two ADHD researchers with:
~ an unrestricted cash award of $5,000 each;
~ recognition at CHADD's Annual International Conference on ADHD
~ an allowance to cover most Conference-related expenses
~ a one-year CHADD professional membership.
Applicants must be in the process of completing a doctoral degree or have completed one within the last three years with the doctoral degree awarded no earlier than January 2010. They must be involved in conducting research addressing an area of ADHD that will further understanding of the disorder. The research may address any area relevant to ADHD, including, but not limited to:

The foundation is focused on making grants to support environmental, human services and other causes although our interests are fairly diverse and may lead us into other areas on an occasional basis. We make both program and operating grants and do not have any geographic restrictions on our grants. The purpose of this funding opportunity announcement (FOA) is to award one cooperative agreement to develop a state-of-the-art foster/adoptive parent training program to include intensive preparation and development components that reflect the capacities required of successful foster/adoptive parents. This is intended to be a product that could be utilized by all states, tribes, and territories and consistently applied wherever implemented. Development of this program would include research on the common characteristics of individuals and their foster/adoptive families that have succeeded in terms of well-being and stability. Common characteristics of families that are more likely to foster and/or adopt harder to place children/youth and are successful and remain committed to the relationship will be identified and integrated into the program. The program would be inclusive of development, training, and capacity needs of individuals/families that are interested in becoming foster parents, as well as those who are interested in fostering with the intention to eventually adopt; therefore many concepts would be in common for foster and adoptive parents. There would be particular focus for foster parents on working on reunification efforts with birth parents and for adoption there would be particular focus on the common adoption issues pertinent to all types of adoption, i.e., child welfare, private domestic, and international. The initial year would entail an extensive review of all current training and preparation programs and include new intervention strategies that foster/adoptive parents should be skilled in as they develop as foster and adoptive parents. The initial year would also involve the basic development of the new intensive training modules.
CHADD is now accepting applications for the 2014 Young Scientist Research Fund Awards. The program recognizes researchers new to the ADHD field who are making contributions to the understanding of ADHD. Through the Fund, CHADD supports researchers with:

Together with University Advancement, the Office for the Advancement of Research & Scholarship (OARS) is rolling out an new crowdfunding platform called HawksNest. Through HawksNest, alumni, family, and friends of the university can directly support the research, scholarship, and service projects of Miami University students, faculty, and staff.
This is how HawksNest works:
* Any Miami University student, faculty, or staff member may complete an online application to have a project considered for funding.
* An internal review team assesses applications and posts approved projects on HawksNest for a maximum of 45 days.
* Potential donors visit the site to learn about and pledge funds to approved projects.
* Once a funding goal has been met, the project can begin!

The Family Violence Prevention and Services Act (FVPSA) Discretionary Grant Program seeks one grantee to enhance and expand the capacity of FVPSA formula grantees - state FVPSA administrators and state/territory domestic violence coalitions. For this grant program, one grantee will be expected to provide 1) topic-specific training and technical assistance at a national level and 2) intensive training and technical assistance at the state or territory level. The national training and technical assistance topics, and the identified formula grantee recipients of the intensive technical assistance, will be identified through: formula grantee needs assessments; program monitoring by FVPSA staff; and the selected grantee's internal processes for identifying needed topics and selected grantees. The training and technical assistance will focus on programmatic and administrative functions to build the capacity of FVPSA formula grantees, such as dissemination of FVPSA regulations and guidance, understanding roles and responsibilities of programmatic monitoring of local programs, incorporation of best practices, building the management capacity of organizations, and building partnerships within the state or territory which includes culturally-specific organizations and tribes.
