The Public Affairs Section of the U.S. Embassy in New Delhi (PAS New Delhi) seeks proposals for a project entitled "Workshops on Confronting Air Pollution at its Source." Through this project, a grantee will implement a series of workshops at the American Center for non-governmental organizations/actors who activities are contributing to the NCR's air quality problem, offering them guidance on how similar activities are conducted in the United States with considerably lower emissions of fine-particulate matter. After the three workshops are completed, the grantee will prepare a report for distribution to all participants at a final session in which the participants can also share any activities (and any results) arising from the workshops. The grantee should organize a total of three two-day workshops at the American Center in New Delhi. Each workshop should focus on one of the following themes - construction dust, crop rotation and vehicular movement (including road dust). Each workshop should have a minimum of 15 participants, and they should be selected based on their involvement in the activities that cause air pollution and who have leadership positions in their sectors, either de jure or de facto (e.g., large construction companies, head of farmer cooperatives, municipal agencies). The participants should be from the NCR region, except for the crop rotation workshop, which will be populated by agriculture sector leaders from Punjab and Haryana. The grantee will be responsible for recruiting and securing participation of American experts and resources persons - at least one for each workshop. PAS New Delhi will provide final approval of the American speakers.

The U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) is soliciting applications from eligible applicants to provide training workshop support activities for states and other practitioners implementing the State Revolving Fund (SRF) programs, the Clean Water SRF program and the Drinking Water SRF programs. The training workshop support will include planning, preparing, and providing technical support for four annual National SRF Infrastructure Financing and Training Workshops. The workshops will target SRF program officials and other interested stakeholders. Funds awarded under this announcement may be used by recipients to promote participation and to support the travel expenses of non-federal personnel to attend the workshops.

Travel bursaries are available to participate in this project, which uses Rachel Carson's 'Silent Spring' to explore the relationship between arts and science research through two workshops at the University of York and Birkbeck, London in 2013, the first at York on Friday 1st March 2013. We can offer a limited amount of bursaries for up to £50 (on provision of receipts) to post-graduates and early career researchers for travel to York. We welcome applications from students across the Humanities and Sciences and hope this will be a lively day full of discussion, inviting participants to share an informal five-minute summary of their work in a final roundtable. NRCS, an agency under the USDA, in the Missouri State Office, is seeking to partner with, and support the efforts of, natural resource conservation partners and to promote public awareness and implementation of Farm Bill activities including, but not limited to, conducting conservation outreach workshops, conferences, and training, that will help educate Missouri's farm community, private landowners, conservation organizations, cooperating agencies, and general citizenry. The purpose of this Dear Colleague Letter is to advise you about funding opportunities at the National Science Foundation for the research community to propose research projects or workshops that will gather data on the implementation and impacts of recent science policy initiatives including, but not limited to those noted earlier.  Especially encouraged are proposals that will: Develop new, or improve existing, analytical frameworks for evaluating the impacts of federal science policy initiatives; Explore different agencies' approaches to the implementation of particular policies to examine how variations in approach affect the achievement of intended policy outcomes; Collect case-study or quantitative data that facilitate identification of best practices in science and innovation policy implementation.

The solar and heliospheric research communities are dedicated to promoting enhanced understanding of, and predictive capabilities for, solar disturbances that propagate to the Earth. Broad-based, grass-roots associations such as SHINE have developed to focus community effort on these scientific questions. The Public Communications Award is presented by the Society of Toxicology to recognize an individual who has made a major contribution to broadening the awareness of the general public on toxicological issues through any aspect of public communications. The award should reflect accomplishments over a significant period of time. Examples of qualifying media in which the nominated communication may appear include books, brochures, continuing education courses, data bases, extension bulletins, magazines, newspapers (local or national), public presentations, public forums, radio and television scripts, and workshops.

The purpose of the Colgate-Palmolive Award for Student Research Training in Alternative Methods is to enhance graduate student research training using in vitro methods or alternative techniques to reduce, replace or refine use of animals in toxicological research. The training may include, but is not limited to, use of in vitro and ex vivo procedures, nonmammalian animal models, computer modeling, and structure-activity relationships. Graduate students may propose to develop expertise in relevant methodologies 1) at a laboratory away from their home institution, 2) at a laboratory at their home institution that would not be available to them otherwise, or 3) at approved workshops, symposia or continuing education programs where hands-on training will be received. The training should help toxicology graduate students enhance their thesis or dissertation research. The overall goal is to support the replacement, reduction, or refinement of currently used animal models in toxicology research and testing. The proposal will include a budget of up to $3,750 to defray travel, per diem, training expenses, and research costs.

The goal of this project is to address conservation needs to prepare museum collections for public exhibit and access for research, through providing an educational work experience opportunities for undergraduate and post graduate students interested in Art and Artifact Conservation. B. Project Objectives Include: â¿¢ Pack and transport museum collections to the conservation lab â¿¢ Treat over 750 objects in preparation for exhibits in parks â¿¢ Survey approximately 3,000 items to document stability and report on conservation needs â¿¢ Design and build storage and exhibit supports for 1,720 items â¿¢ Develop training materials and implement workshop for park staff â¿¢ Conduct research to improve conservation treatment methods for paleontology collections

The purpose of this Federal Funding Opportunity (FFO) is to build capacity for environmental literacy in support of National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA) mission goals through a cooperative agreement with a non-profit organization. In order to further the efforts of the external community that supports NOAA's environmental literacy-related priorities, NOAA is seeking a partnership with a nonprofit organization with a mission of environmental education and/or conservation to work with NOAA to implement formal and informal education efforts, outreach, and professional development in support of environmental literacy. The successful applicant will be supported through a 5-year cooperative agreement with NOAA and should have significant experience supporting environmental literacy, as well as capacity to convene meetings and workshops, manage small-scale grants, and support program evaluation. Experience facilitating partnerships, developing education and outreach materials, and implementing educator professional development is also preferred. Specific activities will be determined collaboratively with NOAA and will further the efforts of the external community to build environmental literacy through informal and formal education. Projects will support NOAA's mission in the areas of ocean, coastal, Great Lakes, weather, and climate sciences and stewardship as defined by the goals of the NOAA Education Strategic Plan 2015-2035

NIFA's Agriculture in the Classroom Program (AITC) serves nearly 5 million students and 60,000 teachers annually through workshops, conferences, field trips, farm tours, and other educational activities. AITC programs include working with state AITC activities engaged in a variety of issues relating to agricultural literacy. Other programs emphasized by the NIFA AITC office include:*Science literacy*Agricultural careers*Nutrition*Pre-service and professional develop opportunities for teachers.The disciplines of agriculture and education have been related for much of our nation's history. When most Americans lived on farms or in small towns, students often did farm chores before and after school. Old schoolbooks have numerous agricultural references. As the farming population began to decline, agricultural emphasis decreased in educational materials as well.A core group of educators and agriculturalists pushed for more youth education about agriculture. They recognized the interlocking role of farming and food and fiber production with environmental quality, which included wildlife habitat, clean water, and the preservation of forests. This group went on to promote the national effort of AITC. Today AITC continues to help students gain a greater awareness of the role of agriculture in the economy and society so they will become citizens who support wise agricultural policies.

Rare, Conservation International, National Geographic, The Nature Conservancy, The United Nations Development Programme, and the World Wildlife Fund have teamed up to launch The Solution Search Contest: Climate Change Needs Behavior Change. This contest is designed to reward successful strategies for helping consumers reduce their carbon footprint through behavior change. The contest is open to all organizations worldwide who have a proven solution in working with people to adopt climate-friendly behaviors. The focus is on sustainable solutions that could be replicated by other communities and can continue into the future. Two grand prizes of $25,000 will be awarded, in addition to a prize of $5,000 given to the best entry received by June 1, 2018. Finalists will also receive support to attend a capacity building workshop and the awards ceremony in Washington, DC. To strengthen local capacity to monitor air quality and expand awareness of air quality issues among decision makers and the general public in at least two Southeast Asian countries. The project will target key host government entities, universities, and NGOs to develop and enhance air quality monitoring capacity with low or medium cost sensors, educational materials on AQI PM2.5 and or PM10, formal expert workshops, and through the services of a professional monitoring and evaluation expert to develop and design a monitoring and evaluation plan to be used by key agencies.
