The DOE Isotope Program (IP), managed by SC Nuclear Physics (NP), hereby announces its interest in receiving applications for Research and Development (R&D) on novel methods to produce or improve production radioactive or enriched stable isotopes needed for a wide variety of research and applications. This announcement is administered under the NP Isotope Development & Production for Research and Applications (IDPRA) Sub-Program. The proposed R&D should generate data relevant to isotope production or lead to new and innovative technologies, or improvements to existing technologies to foster enhanced production of isotopes. Successful proposals will clearly describe how the outcome of the proposed work would support and enhance the production of isotopes used for research and applications in medicine, homeland security, the physical sciences, biological and geological sciences, energy, industry, etc. Applications incorporating effective ways to train personnel with essential knowledge and skills related to the production, processing, purification, and distribution of enriched stable and radioactive isotopes are strongly encouraged. With this solicitation, NIJ seeks applications for funding of multidisciplinary research projects addressing three topics: 1) The impact of fatigue and stress on officer performance. 2) Enhancing strategies for officer interaction with mentally ill individuals. 3) Advancing Resiliency for the Forensic Workforce- Understanding the Impact and Management of Stress, Burnout, and Vicarious Trauma. This solicitation supports the U.S. Department of Justice’s priority of protecting officers and other public safety personnel. This solicitation also supports the following five objectives of the NIJ Safety, Health, and Wellness Strategic Research Plan 2016-2021 (August 2016): 1) Objective I.2: Support development, and promote strategies, policies, practices, and technologies that enhance the safety of criminal justice personnel. 2) Objective I.4: Develop policies, strategies, and technologies to promote safety in criminal justice interactions with the public. 3) Objective II.1: Promote research to improve the physical and mental health of individuals working in the criminal justice system. 4) Objective II.2: Study both trauma and suicide among criminal justice employees. 5) Objective II.4: Promote science-based tools and strategies to monitor physical and mental health.

The National Institute of Corrections (NIC) is soliciting proposals from organizations, groups, or individuals to enter into a cooperative agreement for a 12-month period to begin no later than September 15, 2013. Work under this cooperative agreement will involve the development of an instructional guide and assessment tool(s) that will help jail practitioners improve their assessment of inmate needs and management of inmate behavior. Needs are defined as the physical or psychological requirement for well-being. Inmates have a variety of needs that should be identified and managed during their stay in jail. This project will be a collaborative venture with the NIC Jails Division.

The objective of the Cybersecurity Innovation for Cyberinfrastructure (CICI) program is to develop, deploy and integrate security solutions that benefit the scientific community by ensuring the integrity, resilience and reliability of the end-to-end scientific workflow. CICI seeks three categories of projects: 1. Secure Scientific Cyberinfrastructure: These awards seek to secure the scientific workflow by encouraging novel and trustworthy architectural and design approaches, models and frameworks for the creation of a holistic, integrated security environment that spans the entire scientific CI ecosystem; 2. Collaborative Security Response Center: This single award targets the development of a community resource to provide security monitoring, analysis, expertise, and resources Research & Education (R&E) cyberinfrastructure staff, regardless of physical location or organization; and 3. Research Data Protection: These awards provide solutions that both ensure the provenance of research data and reduce the complexity of protecting research data sets regardless of funding source.

The most recent survey by the Moroccan High Commission for Planning, published in 2011, found that 62.8 percent of women aged 18 to 65 had experienced physical, psychological, sexual, or economic violence within the prior 12 months. Further, 55 percent of women surveyed reported domestic violence and 13.5 per cent reported family violence. Less than 3 percent of women who had experienced domestic violence had reported it to the authorities. Both national and international civil society reports indicate that of women who do report abuse to authorities, many do not receive the assistance required by existing Moroccan law and procedure. This has been attributed to a lack of a clear legal framework specific to gender-based violence (GBV) - draft law 103-13 on combatting violence against women remains pending - as well as social stigma, and limited awareness and implementation of existing GBV protections and reforms. The U.S. Department of State, Bureau of Democracy, Human Rights and Labor (DRL) announces an open competition for organizations interested in submitting applications for projects that help combat gender-based violence in Morocco. DRL's objective for this program is to enhance the ability of Moroccan government and civil society stakeholders engaging on GBV to advance survivor-centered protections. All proposals should include efforts that bring together key stakeholders, including justice and security sector actors, to promote effectiveness and accountability in gender-based violence prevention and response. The Network of International Corrections Experts (NICE) Program will assist foreign corrections partners increase their capacity to operate prisons that are safe, secure, humane, and transparent by identifying current and former U.S. corrections officials with specific, relevant technical expertise to mentor, advise, train, and deliver technical assistance to foreign corrections partners for overseas deployments. Expertise is needed in areas including, but not limited to: community corrections/probation and parole/alternatives to incarceration; electronic monitoring; managing juveniles; security operations; emergency management and response; classification; delivering corrections training programs, such as basic and executive management training; prison design and construction; prison industries; prison intelligence; prisoner transport; corrections in a high threat environment; managing and programming in female corrections facilities; and inmate mental and physical health care.
