NIFA requests applications for the REACH for fiscal year (FY) 2017 to provide high-quality resources for the U.S. Department of Defense (DoD) in the form of research and professional development tools across the spectrum of family support, resilience, and readiness.

Through this announcement, the Administration for Children and Families solicits applications from public or private non-profit organizations, including community-based and faith-based organizations, or for-profit agencies within a community that wish to compete for funds that are available to provide Head Start and/or Early Head Start services to children and families residing in the Municipalities of Anasco, Las Marias, Maricao, and Mayaguez, Puerto Rico. Funds in the amount of $7,854,600 annually will be available to provide Head Start and/or Early Head Start program services to eligible children and their families. The purpose of this program, which is consistent with language contained in the Joint Explanatory Statement to the Consolidated Appropriations Act of FY 2017, is to fund a study focused on improving child health through a statewide system of early childhood developmental screenings and interventions. This includes improving population level early childhood developmental health outcomes in a state with significant risk factors for poor child health status such as high rates of poverty among children under age 5, high rates of low birthweight infants, and low rates of early childhood developmental screenings. This goal will be achieved through the implementation of a high quality statewide early childhood developmental health system, an evaluative study on best practices, polices and innovations that can serve as a model for other states with high needs, and the development and utilization of an early childhood cross-systems workforce program.

This funding opportunity announcement (FOA) invites applications from U.S. institutions to support Research Units (RUs) within the Global Network for Women's and Children's Health Research at NICHD.  RUs will consist of U.S.-based research centers applying in partnership with research centers in low income countries as defined by the World Bank.  The RUs within the Global Network will participate in addressing the major causes of maternal, neonatal, infant, and early childhood morbidity and mortality through the conduct of clinical research.  The grantees will become part of a cooperative network in scientific partnership with the NIH to conduct multi-enter observational studies and randomized clinical trials evaluating disease process, health and wellness outcomes, and results from interventions in resource-poor settings.      

Through its Grief Reach program, NAGC will award Community Expansion and Capacity Building grants of up to $100,000 to nonprofit organizations for programs designed to have a direct impact on children. Fifty percent of the children served must be from low-income families, or 50 percent of the children must be from minority communities.

The Embassy of the United States in London invites eligible organizations to submit proposals to develop and implement 14-day exchange program in the United States for eight 16 year-old youth participants (age as of July 1st, 2018) from the United Kingdom, to be selected by our UK government partners. The program will provide both a brief touring component designed to provide a well-rounded introduction to a range of cybersecurity challenges and exploration of U.S. public and private sector approaches, as well as a residential 'summer camp' component with a focus on practical training and collaborative skill building activities.

The purpose of the Adolescent and Young Adult Health National Capacity Building Program (AYAH-NCBP) is to improve the health of adolescents and young adults (ages 10-25) (AYAs) by strengthening the capacity of state maternal and child health (MCH) programs and their clinical partners to address the needs of these population groups. Within the unique needs of this population, this program includes a focus on behavioral health.

NIJ is interested in supporting research on the criminal justice system's responses to intimate partner violence, teen dating violence, sexual violence, and stalking, generally, and related to violence against American Indian and Alaska Native women.

The Public Affairs Section of the U.S. Embassy in New Delhi (PAS New Delhi) seeks proposals for a project entitled "Leadership through Sports for Jammu and Kashmir." The project, a week-long workshop for local community leaders in the sports field from Jammu and Kashmir, will share best practices on how to build sports and leadership programs in underserved communities. The grantee will identify five American sports mentors/coaches (three female and two male) and bring them to New Delhi to implement the week-long program for 20 local coaches, school administrators, sports association leaders and sports administrators, at least half of whom are female. The American sports mentors/coaches should have experience working with disadvantaged/underserved populations on sports programs, and will focus on building capacity in sports and leadership program development. Upon completion of the week-long workshop, the grantee will organize and oversee a six-month virtual mentoring program between the American sports mentors/coaches and the participants. The Office of English Language Programs of the Bureau of Educational and Cultural Affairs (ECA/A/L) announces an open competition to administer the English Access Microscholarship Program (Access), which provides a foundation of English language skills to bright, economically disadvantaged students in their home countries. Access programs introduce students, primarily aged 13 to 20, to U.S. culture and democratic values, improve the students' potential to fully contribute to the socio-economic development of their countries, and increase their ability to compete for and participate in U.S. exchange and study programs.

This notice solicits applications for the Severe Combined Immunodeficiency (SCID) Screening and Education program. The purpose of this program is to: 1) increase awareness and knowledge about SCID and newborn screening for SCID among parents, families, health care providers, public health professionals, and the public; 2) provide education, training, and support for newborn screening programs; 3) educate families with children diagnosed with SCID and link them to clinical and other services, especially those in rural and medically underserved areas; and 4) improve clinical care through education and training for providers caring for individuals with SCID.

The purpose of the FICDRP is to reduce fetal, infant, and child deaths by improving the quality of fatality reviews and providing evidence-based prevention strategies. Currently, there are approximately 1,350 Child Death Review (CDR) teams and 175 Fetal Infant Mortality Review (FIMR) programs in the United States. This cooperative agreement will provide two categories of funding to improve and strengthen state and local capacity of the FIMR programs and CDR teams to perform complete and accurate fetal, infant, and child death reviews.

The annual program aims to promote innovative research that directly supports the autism community by expanding the body of knowledge related to autism intervention and treatment, producing practical and objective results, and providing outcomes that enhance the quality of life for persons with autism and their families. Preference will be given to the analysis, evaluation, or comparison of current models of assessment, intervention, or systems of service delivery, including policy analysis; applied aspects of educational, behavioral, or social/communicative intervention; effective intervention across the lifespan for individuals considered to be severely impacted by autism; adult issues such as continuing education, employment, residential supports, sexuality instruction, quality-of-life determinants, and "later intervention"; and issues related to family support, social and community integration, assessment and intervention with challenging behavior, and the use of technology in support of learners with ASD.

The purpose of this funding opportunity announcement (FOA) is to support hypothesis-driven research of prenatal and pediatric hydrocephalus. This FOA intends to support hydrocephalus research projects that examine the developmental etiology (intrinsic factors including genetics) and acquired etiology (extrinsic factors including hemorrhage and infection) of prenatal and/or pediatric hydrocephalus. Studies should focus on understanding the molecular, cellular and developmental mechanisms involved in the pathogenesis of prenatal and/or pediatric hydrocephalus.

The purpose of this program is to fund a national entity to support state efforts to implement evidence-based and promising early childhood vision screening, follow-up, and surveillance protocols by providing technical assistance, tools, training, and opportunities for information sharing and learning. Recipients will, in partnership with families and caregivers, provide state entities expert and peer guidance to support the development and replication of strategies that are adapted to meet the unique needs of underserved communities, and address systemic barriers to implementing comprehensive systems for delivering vision screening services to young children.

The Lalor Foundation is accepting applications for programs designed to educate young women about human reproduction in order to broaden and enhance their options in life. Through its Anna Lalor Burdick Program, the foundation seeks to empower young women through education about healthy reproduction. The program focuses in particular on young women who have inadequate access to information regarding sexual and reproductive health, including comprehensive and unbiased information on contraception and pregnancy termination. Grants of up to $35,000 will be awarded in support of programs for young women, particularly those who are disadvantaged by poverty, discrimination, geographic isolation, lack of specific sex education, hostile public policy, or other factors leading to inadequate reproductive health. Areas of interest include programs that include a comprehensive approach to sexual and reproductive health education; novel ideas, including innovative methods of delivering information; and programs that incorporate advocacy or policy change.
