    The OCRP Investigator-Initiated Research Award is intended to support meritorious basic and clinically oriented research in ovarian cancer; clinical trials will not be supported by this award mechanism. Research projects may focus on any phase of research from basic laboratory research through translational research. The rationale for a research idea may be derived from a laboratory discovery, population-based studies, a clinician's first-hand knowledge of patients, or anecdotal data. The application must demonstrate logical reasoning and a sound scientific rationale established through a critical review and analysis of the literature for the application to be competitive. Applications must include preliminary data that are relevant to ovarian cancer and support the proposed research project.

    The overarching goal of the Breast Cancer and the Environment Research Program (BCERP) is to support integrated scientific research to enhance our understanding of environmental and genetic factors underlying breast cancer risk. This funding opportunity will support a Coordinating Center, which together with a group of individual transdisciplinary projects investigating the influence of environmental exposures during specific time windows on breast cancer risk, will form the BCERP Consortium. The BCERP Coordinating Center will provide intellectual leadership as well as logistic support for the BCERP Consortium.     The Damon Runyon-Rachleff Innovation Award is designed to provide support for the next generation of exceptionally creative thinkers with "high-risk/high-reward" ideas that have the potential to significantly impact our understanding of and/or approaches to the prevention, diagnosis or treatment of cancer. The Innovation Award is specifically designed to provide funding to extraordinary early career researchers who have an innovative new idea but lack sufficient preliminary data to obtain traditional funding.     The intent of the Breakthrough Award is to support promising research that has high potential to lead to or make breakthroughs in breast cancer. The critical components of this award mechanism are: Impact: Research supported by the Breakthrough Award will have the potential for a major impact and accelerate progress toward ending breast cancer. The impact may be near-term or long-term, but must be significant and move beyond an incremental advancement. Applications must articulate the pathway to making a clinical impact for individuals with, or at risk for, breast cancer, even if clinical impact is not an immediate outcome. Research Scope: Research proposed under this award mechanism may be small- to large-scale projects, at different stages of idea and research development. Two different funding levels, based on the scope of the research, are available under this Program Announcement/Funding Opportunity. An additional funding level, Funding Level 3, is available under a different Program Announcement (W81XWH-15-BCRP-BREAKTHROUGH2_FL3). It is the responsibility of the Principal Investigator (PI) to select the funding level that is most appropriate for the research proposed.     Through this limited competition Funding Opportunity Announcement (FOA), the National Cancer Institute (NCI) solicits a single application for the continuation of the AIDS and Cancer Specimen Resource (ACSR). The eligible applicant institutions (which are the two current NCI-supported ACSR lead institutions) are expected to maintain the cooperative group structure and the activities of the ACSR. The primary objective of the ACSR will be to acquire, store, and equitably distribute tumor tissues, biological fluids, and associated demographic data from patients with human immunodeficiency virus (HIV)-associated malignancies. In addition to serving acquired immunodeficiency syndrome (AIDS) and cancer researchers at large, the ACSR will specifically provide biorepository functions for another NCI supported initiative, the AIDS Malignancy Consortium (AMC). The AMC performs clinical trials research in the treatment and prevention of HIV-associated malignancies in the United States and Sub-Saharan Africa. As the AMC is currently expanding its agenda to include Latin America, it is expected that the ACSR will collaborate with the AMC to develop regional biorepository support for AMC activities in Latin American countries. The continuing ACSR must have appropriate strategies and capabilities to address several high priority areas of specimen acquisition including specific types of cancer (AIDS-defining as well as non-AIDS defining), types of biospecimens and accompanying clinical data, and biospecimens from geographic areas of interest.

    The purpose of this Funding Opportunity Announcement (FOA) is to support the planning and development of translational research programs focused upon cancer health disparities research. The P20 grants supported by this FOA are expected to expand into comprehensive translational research programs focused upon cancer health disparities and ultimately compete for P50 awards under the umbrella of the National Cancer Institute (NCI) "Specialized Programs of Research Excellence (SPOREs)". Each P20 Program proposed must include the following components: Research Program (at least two translational research projects are required); Administrative Core; Shared Resource Facility (Biospecimen/Pathology Core is required); and Developmental Research Program. The research supported through the P20 Program must be translational in nature and must focus upon knowledge of human biology with a translational human endpoint proposed. The proposed research theme for the P20 Program must be focused on addressing disparities in cancer incidence, prevalence, mortality, survivorship, and/or burden of cancer, or related health conditions, that are well documented among racial/ethnic minority populations. Projects may focus on a wide range of research areas including prevention, early detection, diagnosis, treatment, epidemiology and/or cancer control, and are expected to have clear translational potential to advance research findings to applications relevant for clinical practice and/or healthcare settings.

    The FY19 PRCRP Translational Team Science Award (TTSA) supports hypothesis-driven translational studies. These studies should be associated with a clinical trial. The proposed project should focus on research for the next-phase clinical trial or future clinical application. The TTSA is intended to support advanced translational studies that are based on results from clinical investigations. While funding for clinical trials is allowed, the TTSA is intended to support multi-investigator, multidisciplinary teams to perform clinical research studies and not only to fund a clinical trial.
