Human Performance Enhancement - The Collider Project (Dayton, OH) - Meetup - 0 views

    On September 13, WBI will be hosting its 3rd OEA Collider Event, this time on the topic of Human Performance Enhancement. Please block your calendars from 1:30 till 3:30 and plan to join us to learn more about the opportunities within this massive market space. For the purposes of this project, we're defining Human Performance Enhancement like this: As the world becomes more complex, the demands on human performance continue to increase. Athletic endeavors, military requirements, continuing independence into one's later years are all examples of market-driven needs for human performance enhancement. Strength, speed, endurance, vigilance, multi-tasking, mental-acuity, and recovery are all enhancement opportunities of interest. Formal evaluation of blue papers will begin on approximately 17 October 2016. Wright Brothers Institute continues to work diligently on our pilot project to refine a commercialization process for regional innovators. In March we had an OEA Collider event focused on the Precision Agriculture market which has resulted in 8 Blue Paper submissions and 2 on-going projects to commercialize several of the concepts explained in those blue papers. We're making significant progress toward providing real market solutions with a combination of several innovative technologies!

    This Funding Opportunity Announcement (FOA) invites an application from the Program Directors/Principal Investigators of the Coordination and Evaluation Center (CEC), which is currently supporting the research being performed for the Enhancing the Diversity of the NIH-Funded Workforce Program. This program, known as the Diversity Program Consortium (DPC), consists of three integrated initiatives: Building Infrastructure Leading to Diversity (BUILD), the National Research Mentoring Network (NRMN) and the CEC. The CEC will continue to organize the activities required for the attainment of program-wide goals and to measure the agreed upon hallmarks of success at the student, faculty, and institutional level. The CEC will employ and refine the processes developed in the previous funding period to assess the impact of BUILD and NRMN activities on attainment of the hallmarks. The CEC will coordinate the collection of data from the DPC, assess the data in an ongoing way, provide feedback, and facilitate an iterative process of program adjustment to maximize the research of BUILD and NRMN. The CEC should also focus on the dissemination of effective strategies for enhancing the diversity of the biomedical research workforce and for transitioning into a sustainable model for evaluating diversity enhancing programs beyond the funding cycle.

BUILD is part of the Enhancing the Diversity of the NIH-Funded Workforce Program, also known as the Diversity Program Consortium (DPC), consists of three integrated initiatives: BUILD, the National Research Mentoring Network (NRMN) and the Coordination and Evaluation Center (CEC). The purpose of the funding is to allow BUILD sites to continue to implement and evaluate the multi-pronged student, faculty, and institutional interventions to enhance diversity in the NIH biomedical research workforce. In preparation for the second phase of the BUILD initiative, the applicants are expected to provide plans to transition into sustainable models for enhancing diversity in the biomedical research fields at their institutions.     This initiative aims to: (1) enhance our understanding of the multi-level factors that influence HIV prevention strategy use among adolescent girls and young women (AGYW) in sub-Saharan Africa and (2) develop and test novel interventions to address these factors and enhance the uptake and adherence to HIV prevention strategies among AGYW in sub-Saharan Africa.  The goal of this initiative is to look at the multiple levels of influence on AGYW's behavior from the individual level, to her partners, family members and peers as well as cultural, social norms and structural factors that may influence uptake and adherence to prevention strategies.
