The purpose of the SCRI program is to address the critical needs of the specialty crop industry (as defined in Part VIII, D of the RFA) by awarding grants to support research and extension that address key challenges of national, regional, and multi-state importance in sustaining all components of food and agriculture, including conventional and organic food production systems.

The Noble Research Institute is accepting applications for its 2019 Lloyd Noble Scholars in Agriculture program, which provides students with the opportunity to work alongside agricultural professionals at one of the nation's foremost agricultural research organizations. The Noble Research Institute offers opportunities in its core areas of expertise: animal science and livestock management (emphasis on forage-based ruminant systems), agricultural economics, agronomy, horticulture, range management, soils and crops, and wildlife and fisheries. Scholars work alongside agricultural researchers and consultants who assist farmers, ranchers, and other land owners operating in the cattle belt of the Southern Great Plains to attain financial, production, and quality-of-life goals. Scholars will develop valuable applied agriculture skills, interact with and assist in identifying solutions to real-world issues encountered by producers, and further enhance communication and leadership skills necessary to be effective advocates for agriculture. The objective of the scholar experience is to provide participants a competitive advantage in the development of a career in a leading agricultural field of study, thus enabling them to positively impact the agriculture industry of tomorrow. At the conclusion of the summer program, scholars present their findings to the Noble Research Institute agriculture and research community.

The Mohamed bin Zayed Species Conservation Fund was established to provide grants to individual species conservation initiatives, recognize leaders in the field, and elevate the importance of species in the broader conservation debate. To that end, grants of up to $25,000 will be awarded in support of plant, animal and fungi species conservation efforts without restriction on the basis of region or species. Priority will be given to in situ species conservation work, but the fund will consider an ex situ project where it is demonstrated to be critical to the survival of the species concerned. Section 18 of the Richard B. Russell National School Lunch Act (NSLA) established a Farm to School program in order to assist eligible entities, (schools, school districts, agricultural producers, Indian tribal organizations, nonprofit organizations, state agencies and local agencies), through grants and technical assistance, in implementing farm to school programs that improve access to local foods in eligible schools.

The Marine Turtle Conservation Fund (MTCA) is soliciting proposals for the conservation of marine turtles (Chelonia mydas, Caretta caretta, Dermochelys coriacea, Eretmochelys imbricata, Lepidochelys olivacea, Lepidochelys kempii) throughout their range outside of the United States and its territories. The U.S. Government enacted the Marine Turtle Conservation Act of 2004 in response to the decline of many marine turtle populations worldwide and the serious threats to their long-term survival. The primary purpose of the Act is to provide financial support for projects that conserve nesting populations and habitat and address other threats to the survival of marine turtles in foreign countries.

The United States Agency for International Development (USAID) is seeking concept notes for a cooperative agreement from qualified U.S. organizations to fund a program entitled Feed the Future Innovation Lab for Food Security Policy Research, Capacity, and Influence. Eligibility for this award is restricted to Title XII institutions. See Section C of this RFA for eligibility requirements. Subject to the availability of funds, an award will be made to the responsible applicant(s) whose application(s) best meets the objectives of this funding opportunity and the selection criteria contained herein. While one award is anticipated as a result of this request for applications (RFA), USAID reserves the right to fund any or none of the applications submitted. This RFA will have two phases. Phase I will consist of submission of concept notes. USAID will then request a full application from selected concept note(s). DO NOT SUBMIT APPLICATIONS THROUGH GRANTS.GOV. The purpose of the Native Agriculture and Food Systems Scholarship Program is to encourage more Native American college students to enter these fields so that they can better assist Native communities with their efforts. First Nations will award five $1,000 scholarships for the 2018-19 academic school year to Native American college students majoring in agriculture and agriculture-related fields, including but not limited to agribusiness management, agriscience technologies, agronomy, animal husbandry, aquaponics, environmental studies, fisheries and wildlife, food production and safety, food-related policy and legislation, food science and technology, horticulture, irrigation science, nutrition education, and sustainable agriculture or food systems.

We invite entrepreneurs, researchers, and advocates to submit their business, research, or policy proposals for funding consideration. Submissions will be reviewed by experts who will provide issuespecific insights and vet applications for boldness, viability, and impact. Best-in-class candidates will be selected to receive equity and debt financing for their businesses. A cash prize will be awarded to Soil GroundBreakers - rising stars working in research, social enterprise, or advocacy. GroundBreaker nominations will be accepted from FoodShot's diverse community of partners and aligned organizations, including a range of food system innovators, investors, and thought leaders.

This funding opportunity announcement from the National Institute for Occupational Safety and Health (NIOSH) invites applications for a National Center of Excellence for the Prevention of Childhood Agricultural Injury. Applicants are expected to propose multi-disciplinary approaches to develop partnerships for implementing prevention and intervention activities and to serve as a leader in research translation and research-to-practice for the protection of children in agricultural environments throughout the United States. Applicants must describe the occupational health and safety burden(s) addressed in their proposals. In addition, they must link the need for the proposed research and related activities to the planned outputs and outcomes that will help address or alleviate the burdens described. Applicants should also describe the anticipated impacts and potential outcomes of the proposed research and related activities that will occur during the 5-year project period and beyond.

Develop cooperative relationships for managing invasive plants and noxious weeds at the landscape scale to set common goals and pool resources to effectively manage invasive plants and noxious weeds across Wyoming.

The National Land Imaging (NLI) Program of the U.S. Geological Survey (USGS) Land Resources (LR) mission area is soliciting applications from qualified Educational Institutions, State and Local Governments, and Non-profit Organizations (NPOs) to develop a U.S. national consortium to expand the science of remote sensing through education, outreach and research / applications development for environmental monitoring to include the effects of land use and land cover change on water quality, quantity and utility; societal adaptation and phenology; public health-related issues to include identification of potential indicators relating to vector-borne diseases and harmful algal blooms; natural resource management, agricultural applications, disaster risk reduction, and other land surface and surface water monitoring applications.

These unknown factors are: 1) How many individuals are on the landscape (quality science-based estimate); and 2) what are the impacts of livestock grazing and trampling to individuals and the population as a whole? This announcement provides an opportunity for an organization with scientific expertise through a reputable third party to assist with both the design and carrying out of appropriate monitoring and sampling to answer questions regarding population extent, numbers, and trend, and the effects of livestock grazing.

Consumers the world over have embraced a variety of high-protein foods, such as Greek-style yogurt and beef jerky style meat products. Unfortunately, that increased level of protein in the product can negatively impact consumer perceptions by adversely impacting texture, taste, color, etc.

The National Academy of Education advances high-quality education research and its use in policy formation and practice. Founded in 1965, the academy comprises United States members and foreign associates who are elected on the basis of outstanding scholarship related to education. Since its establishment, NAEd has undertaken research studies that address pressing issues in education typically conducted by members and other scholars with relevant expertise.

The Bureau of International Labor Affairs (ILAB), U.S. Department of Labor (USDOL, or the Department), announces the availability of approximately $2,500,000 total costs (pending availability of Federal funds) for one cooperative agreement to fund a technical assistance project in Argentina to increase action by labor and agriculture stakeholders to address child labor in agricultural areas in Argentina. Project outcomes include: 1) increased common understanding of the challenges and opportunities for addressing child labor in agriculture, and 2) increased capacity of labor and agriculture stakeholders to address child labor in agriculture.

Air Force Personal Financial Readiness Program Evaluation Development (PFRP) for fiscal year (FY) 2018 is to develop and complete a comprehensive program evaluation of Personal Financial Readiness Program (PFRP) within the Air Force Personal Financial Readiness Programs supporting Air Force members and their families.

The Food and Agriculture Defense Initiative was authorized through section 1472 of the National Agricultural Research, Extension, and Teaching Policy Act of 1977 (NARETPA), 7 U.S.C. 3318; and Homeland Security (Cooperative Agreements), section 1484 of NARETPA, 7 U.S.C 3351. Using this authority available to the Secretary, the Secretary shall use funds made available to carry out agricultural research, education, and extension activities for continuation of partnerships with institutions of higher education and other institutions to help form stable, long-term programs to enhance the biosecurity of the U.S.

In response, Organic Valley devised a way for farmers to pool their exemptions into an organic-focused granting fund as a way to promote and advance organic farming. Funded entirely by annual, voluntary contributions from Organic Valley farmers, FAFO is the largest farmer-funded grant program in the United States and one of the few focused solely on organic food and farming.
