Fame is Infamy | A Poetic Matter - 1 views

I so agree about your view on Christian art. For years, it has irritated me that Christian music seems to copy the world-just wait, soon (it may have already happened) a Christian label will sign a Justin Bieber clone. :) Thanks for your refreshing remarks! I'm not a metal-head, but your post makes me want to read the book, anyway. Welcome to The High Calling network, by the way. We're glad to have you on board and hope you find a group of like-minded believers there. I know I have!

What Does Successful Christianity Look Like? | carlamaclachlan.com - 0 views

Yes, Carla! I love it: "In the supernatural realm, however, personal obedience to God is what produces success." So often we as Christians get swept away by what the WORLD says is success. It's easy to do, isn't it? I pray that we as believers can see the difference between worldly and godly success and follow our Lord into whatever realm He asks us to go. We're glad YOU felt led to join us in the High Calling blog network. Welcome!

Towery Along the Way: Patriotism Is Not Enough - 0 views

Wow. Thanks for this reminder that we serve a higher calling than country! I so agree with what you're saying. Too often, I fear we in America have equated conservative politics with good Christianity. But living out our faith requires sooo much more. BTW, welcome to the HCB network. I for one am thrilled to have yoU! :)

Ric, I'm one of The High Calling welcome editors and just wanted to say that I'm really glad you've reached out to us. This is a great post, and I love this part: "A church on a mission is what happens when you and I replace the "come to us" invitations with a "go to them" life." Wow! So true…and convicting. I use to live in the Hill Country of TX and now am in Amarillo. Good to see another Texan in the HC network. Welcome aboard! I look forward to getting to know you better online.

The quote about Kirk Cameron made me laugh out loud. Thanks for that! :) And thanks for your insights on this subject. I heartily agree that Christians can (and should) do better. I did like Soul Surfer, however. The fact that it was based on a true story helped the believability to me. But I did think that they glossed over the struggle that the surfer-girl went through. It was more a dark minute of the soul. :) Welcome to The High Calling. I can't wait for you to dig in and become acquainted with our wonderful community. I hope you'll do that soon.
