    Really outstanding but lengthy session on how to use a wiki in teaching. Within the first 20 minutes he talks about using a wiki for his own course notes--he can access from any computer when he has a thought; an example, he says, of "cloud computing." He also explains how he started using a wiki for student note-taking. None of his students were taking notes because his lecture was "making sense." Instructor's (Richard Buckland) worry was that maybe later it WOULDN'T make sense. He tried handing out notes to studetns, each student taking turns keeping notes, and others. One student suggested a wiki and he says it's worked fantastically! COLLABORATIVE LECTURE NOTES. Now when he lectures he displays a brief outline of his notes which students then mark-up for themselves. Students now own their notes! He reviews at night and sees where students have trouble. He does NOT change the notes. He waits because often students will comes back to fix. But if he sees the error persists by the next lecture, then he knows he needs to correct a misconception.

    I tried Jing only a couple of weeks back and I have already made over 40 videos for use in my classes.

    I was referred to this product by a colleague and it is really easy to use. I use it to record video solutions for my math review. Jing also works with Camtasia, which allows you to edit your Jing videos, as well as convert them into other media types such as mp4.

It is unlikely that cheating will be eradicated in online or in f2f classes but every effort towards its reduction is an effort that enhances the value of a certification from the institute.

    Abstract In something of a landmark for education Knowles (1970) suggested an important change in the way in which educational experiences for adults should be designed. The approach, known as andragogy, contrasts quite sharply with pedagogy which is the teaching of children. This paper suggests there is benefit in moving from andragogy towards truly self-determined learning. The concept of truly self-determined learning, called heutagogy, builds on humanistic theory and approaches to learning described in the 1950s. It is suggested that heutagogy is appropriate to the needs of learners in the twenty-first century, particularly in the development of individual capability.
