TIME is a website dedicated to helping educators integrate technology into their classrooms. Though the site is education generic, there are a great number of articles pertaining to music education. TIME and NAfME recently joined forces to present a music and technology session at the NAfME convention this year, dedicated specifically to the music technology space.

This is a great website for teaching beginning composition!

This composition site through Classics for Kids gives two levels of composing- beginner and advanced. A great variety of notes to be used (there are dotted rhythms in the advanced level), and students can drag the notes/rests easily to where they'd like to on the staff. This site is great for teaching composition, beats, time signature, treble clef staff and notes.

TI:ME is a wonderful resource to learn about how to implement technology into music teaching and learning. Users can browse blogs, new stories, and articles that demonstrate technology's use in the music classroom.

A great resource for teachers who want to either implement or improve upon technology in their classroom.

TI:ME is a great place for professional development resources dealing exclusively with teaching music through technology.

This list of podcasts has the TED talks that focus on education. While not all of them deal with music education, they have some great insights on general pedagogy, creativity, and teaching.

The NAMM Foundation website has many great articles about advocacy, building a great program, and various pedagogical resources.

This is a page on the Music Matters Blog reviewing the InTune App available on iTunes. This app operates on a game platform and has students distinguish which pitch is higher or lower. Pitches get progressively closer as the level increases.

The Making Most of Music practice: Research-Based strategies to Motivate and Empower Students will be used to inform my parents about a valid concern. I teach the steel drum and most students do not have a personal instrument. Therefore, practice time at the pan yard seems as if it takes too much of the students time. If parents are enlightened with this information they may have more of an understanding and appreciation for the amount of practice time spent in the pan yard.

This is another site that not only has free sheet music but information about making the steel pans, history of the pan, how to play and many other educational features. Once again students can access these resources for free as well.

Brandon Haskett's Music Education Blog is a new resource for me to be able to get steel pan music that is scored. Even my students can go on the site and get the lead sheets. This site good also because it is free.

On this PDF, there are many links that connect to music sites that students can use. All of the programs are "in the cloud". Students can access these from any computer, at home, school or on the road. All sites are included to facilitate musical creativity.

This is a document that is a resource for creativity and technology for music learning put together by Dr. William Bauer for the FETC in Orlando, Florida on January 31, 2014. This page is an excellent resource to develop ideas for learning with technology in the classroom. Many of the programs are free, easy to use and applicable to many educational ideas.  

Musical Creativity in the Cloud is a Google Doc by Dr. William I. Bauer. It is a list of resources to integrate technology into the music classroom and encourage creative thinking. Each item on the list will facilitate organization, creativity, or music learning. Dr. Bauer comprised a list of fifty resources to integrate technology into the music classroom including notation software, cloud-based libraries, media players, and organizational tools.

Pandora can be used for my students to listen to songs the orchestra is presently learning or planning to learn in the future. This always comes in as an asset because of our rote style teaching method and performing from memory. If the basic melody, bass line and chord progression is familiar; it makes the music easier to learn.

Sometimes all people need is a word of encouragement to keep doing well. As teachers, it is difficult to find ways to keep our students engaged and motivated. We can become so absorbed with getting our students to do well that we may forget to actually tell them when they do well. It may seem small, but simply acknowledging when a student does what is asked of them can keep them motivated to keep doing it.

This is a great interactive and multimedia resource for teachers from the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame and Museum's website.  The beta Digital Classroom begins with the 1950s.  Different artists are highlighted from the 1950s, each with a bio, authentic performance video, "why it matters" section and lesson objectives that highlight important musical aspects of the artist.

Rock Hall provides lessons and interactive elements that help teach the story of rock and roll. They also offer classes you can register for about the history of the genre.

Theta Music Trainer offers a variety of games and activities for ear training practice. The first three levels of each game (out of 20) are available for free.

I feel this website would be great for acquiring new ideas to pass on to my students about ways to practice effectively.

Follow this to the second video (the first doesn't play), and teachers will be inspired to keep working with singers who initially may appear hopeless. 

Excellent articles on how to work with adolescent voices are on this site, including much insight on helping boys deal with changing voices.
