The Cleveland Orchestra's Education & Community website includes learning/teaching opportunities for families, educators, and adults, and has performance opportunities for youth. This is a well-developed webpage that engages youth to adults.

Beginning Band Engagement (band director chat room): I utilize this resource very frequently to connect with other music educators. With this resource, band directors can get extremely helpful advice from a pool of thousands of fellow band teachers.

Yousician is a great resource for learning the guitar, bass, ukelele, or piano. Students can watch video tutorials and move up when they pass levels while playing songs with fun background music. The program/app provides instant feedback on pitch and rhythm. Teachers can use Yousician with a class on a Smart Board. In a group setting, Yousician cannot provide feedback, but it does provide lesson plans and even has a SongCreator. It is free to use with time limits on feedback, or can be upgraded to premium for $9.99/person with unlimited feedback. Students can sign up for their own account and teachers can track their progress through a Teacher account. It is fun, engaging, and provides a well rounded education in these instruments. There are knowledge tracks for each instrument which cover music theory and ear training.

Children all around the world engage in musical play. This website contains authentic video performances of singing games from around the world. Jules Oosterwegel was inspired to capture and gather these musical performances during his travels, believing in the importance of sharing these songs and games with others.

The topics of discussion include arts as a core subject, formal teacher evaluation procedure for arts classes, engaging students in music classes, and the importance of providing an arts education to every student. A nice aspect of this site is that it provides information not only in the form of text, but also graphs and charts. This makes the information presented easy to comprehend for a larger audience. Teachers can use the informaion from these research studies and blogs to ensure that their music program is genuinely helping all of the students and to educate themselves on the importance of music education/its place in todays changing views on the arts as a core subject.

This website focuses on jazz history and music. Activities are designed for ages 8-13 or 12-15. Each famous jazz musician or historical page includes the story behind the composition, recordings, and suggested activities that engage students in the listening selection.

This is a list and explanation of several rhythm games for use in the elementary classroom. Some of the games are, Poison Rhythm, Pass the Ball, and "I have, Who Has". There are also suggestions on how to use heart charts, boomwhackers, and how to include children when playing a game where someone is "out".

This is a great site to help students practice sight reading. There are many sight reading examples and the program is very user friendly and helps engage the kids.

There are interactive lessons that would be great for centers work or to engage students in learning more about a specific music theory concept. It could be useful if students are working in with a music notation software, for instance, and forget a concept.

Music Learning Community is a site for music educators and music students that includes a great deal of information on computer-based learning. Included are games and activities that teach theory and build aural skills. There is a free trial but the site requires a membership fee.

Designed to make learning musical concepts and take-home assignments more fun and engaging, these games are broken down into various levels for students. Lower levels can be effective for early elementary students, and higher levels can be effective for students in high school. Games are colorful and entertaining, and they list certain scores that students should strive to achieve. Most games have a lesson version, a practice version, and a quiz version.
