The purpose of the website is to share ideas and concepts that the author has used in her classroom. There is a wealth of information available specifically on recruitment for middle school performing arts teachers (band, orchestra, and choir). Visitors have access to materials that the author has shared that coincide with the blogs on the website. There is also a list of recommended websites that the author recommends for visitors to check out associated with music education.

This site advocates for music edcuation. It provides information through blogs, articles, and research. The topics of discussion include arts as a core subject, formal teacher evaluation procedure for arts classes, engaging students in music classes, and the importance of providing an arts education to every student. A nice aspect of this site is that it provides information not only in the form of text, but also graphs and charts. This makes the information presented easy to comprehend for a larger audience. Teachers can use the informaion from these research studies and blogs to ensure that their music program is genuinely helping all of the students and to educate themselves on the importance of music education/its place in todays changing views on the arts as a core subject.

It's easy to teach and celebrate the classic composers: Bach, Beethoven, Mozart, etc., but this article discusses ways to incorporate the composers that are still alive today that are still creating new media in our art form.

Band Ed Tool Shed is a blog ran by a band director named Roger Whaley who is aiming to work smarter in his music classroom. He also outlines issues he encounters in his system and how he overcomes them. Great resource for directors to use for ideas on how to adapt to changing conditions and create new resources for their classrooms.
